The paper deals with two nonlinear elliptic equations with (p, q)-Laplacian and the Dirichlet-Neumann-Dirichlet (DND) boundary conditions, and Dirichlet-Neumann-Neumann (DNN) boundary conditions, respectively. Under mild hypotheses, we prove the unique weak solvability of the elliptic mixed boundary value problems. Then, a comparison and a monotonicity results for the solutions of elliptic mixed boundary value problems are established. We examine a convergence result which shows that the solution of (DND) can be approached by the solution of (DNN). Moreover, two optimal control problems governed by (DND) and (DNN), respectively, are considered, and an existence result for optimal control problems is obtained. Rail transportation, especially, high-speed rails (HSR), is an important infrastructure for the development of national economy and the promotion of passenger experience. Due to the large bandwidth, millimeter wave (mmWave) communication is regarded as a promising technology to meet the demand of high data rates. However, since mmWave communication has the characteristic of high attenuation, mobile relay (MR) is considered in this paper. Also, full-duplex (FD) communications have been proposed to improve the spectral efficiency. However, because of the high speed, as well as the problem of penetration loss, passengers on the train have a poor quality of service. Consequently, an effective user association scheme for HSR in mmWave band is necessary. In this paper, we investigate the user association optimization problem in mmWave mobile relay systems where the MRs operate in the FD mode. To maximize the system capacity, we propose a cooperative user association approach based on coalition formation game, and develop a coalition formation algorithm to solve the challenging NP-hard problem. We also prove the convergence and Nash-stable property of the proposed algorithm. Extensive simulations are done to show the system performance of the proposed scheme under various network settings. It is demonstrated that the proposed distributed low complexity scheme achieves a near-optimal performance and outperforms two baseline schemes in terms of average system throughput. This paper describes the implementation of automatic generation control (AGC) and automatic voltage regulator (AVR) under generation rate constraint (GRC) and coupling between automatic generation control and automatic voltage regulator while considering generation rate constrain of two areas for improve and better performance characteristic of load frequency control (LFC) problem. our control aim has to normalize the area control error (ACE), frequency error and tie-line power error in spite of the presences of system uncertainties and external load disturbance, So that the required frequency and power interchange with adjacent structures are maintained in order to reduce the transient deviations and to provide zero steady state error in proper short time, the behavior of the planned is checked by MATLAB SIMULINK software.

In privacy-preserving machine learning, individual parties are reluctant to share their sensitive training data due to privacy concerns. Even the trained model parameters or prediction can pose serious privacy leakage. To address these problems, we demonstrate a generally applicable Distributed Privacy-Preserving Prediction (DPPP) framework, in which instead of sharing more sensitive data or model parameters, an untrusted aggregator combines only multiple models' predictions under provable privacy guarantee. Our framework integrates two main techniques to guarantee individual privacy. First, we introduce the improved Binomial Mechanism and Discrete Gaussian Mechanism to achieve distributed differential privacy. Second, we utilize homomorphic encryption to ensure that the aggregator learns nothing but the noisy aggregated prediction. Experimental results demonstrate that our framework has comparable performance to the non-private frameworks and delivers better results than the local differentially private framework and standalone framework.

Wind energy conversion system (WECS) is essentially a time-varying system with high nonlinear characteristics, which leads to the difficulty of guaranteeing the control performance in a wide-scale operating conditions for the conventional linear control strategies. In this paper, a linear-parameter-varying (LPV) gain-scheduled controller is proposed for variable-speed-variable-pitch wind turbines above rated wind speed, which improves both steady- and dynamic-response performances under wide-scale operating conditions. Firstly, the H2/H∞ technique is adopted to reduce the rated power tracking errors, while enhancing the robustness against high-frequency turbulence. Secondly, the regional pole placement technique is applied on WECS, which builds the connections to the dynamic response performance. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, the simulation is implemented on the NREL 5 MW wind turbine, which is compared with the conventional local linear control strategy with a full analysis on the related performances. © 2019 Institution of Engineering and Technology. In this paper, a sensitivity-analysis-based wind turbine optimization strategy is introduced to improve the power output stability while reducing the shaft and tower loads. Both generator torque and blade pitch are controlled coordinately to achieve the optimization. During the wind turbine control process, blade pitch and generator torque are controlled proportionally to the generator speed tracking error, which simplifies the controller structure, thus, the wind turbine performance can be evaluated with control variables sensitivities directly. The wind turbine performance is considered in output power stability, shaft bending moment and tower bending moment. Both load parameters are analysed in fatigue damage lifetime. A conflicting relationship is realized between the load-power characteristic during the optimization, and a global coordination solution is selected on the pareto optimal frontier. Essential, this work is an exploration for the quantitative analysis from the wind turbine load performance to the control variables sensitivities directly without the limitation of controller forms. Opacity is an important information-flow security property that captures the plausible deniability for some "secret" of a system. In this paper, we investigate the problem of synthesizing controllers that enforce opacity for labeled transition systems (LTS). Most of the existing works on synthesis of opacity-enforcing controllers are based on the original system model, which may contain a large number of states. To mitigate the complexity of the controller synthesis procedure, we propose an abstraction-based approach for controller synthesis. Specifically, we propose notion of opacity-preserving alternating (bi)simulation relation for the purpose of abstraction. We show that, if the abstract system is opacity-preserving alternatingly simulated by the original system which may be significantly smaller, then we can synthesize an opacity-enforcing controller based on the abstract system and then refine it back to a controller enforcing opacity of the original system. We investigate both initial-state opacity and infinite-step opacity. We also show the effectiveness of the proposed approach by a set of examples.

This paper investigates both the robust semi-global leaderless consensus problem and the robust semi-global containment control problem for a group of identical linear systems with imperfect actuators. The imperfect actuators are characterized by nonlinearities such as saturation and dead zone and there input output relationships are not precisely known. The dynamics of follower agents are also affected by the input additive disturbances. Low-and-high gain feedback consensus protocols are constructed to solve these problems. More specifically, it is shown that robust semi-global leaderless consensus can be achieved over a connected undirected graph and robust semi-global containment control can be achieved when each follower agent has access to the information of at least one leader agent. Numerical simulation illustrates the theoretical results.

As an important component of all-electric aircraft, the main propulsion machine is developing towards high energy density, high efficiency and high fault tolerance. In order to improve the energy density of main propulsion machine for all-electric aircraft, a novel approach, which can be used for excellent performance improvement of electric machine of all-electric aircraft, is reported in this paper. The analytical formula of energy density is put forward and the design method of high energy density permanent magnet machine is presented. A high energy density machine with rated power of 30kW is designed, and the electromagnetic field simulation analysis, strength and stress structure verification, temperature field simulation analysis and multi-physical field coupling analysis are obtained. A prototype is developed, the experiment platform is established, and experiments are performed. The energy density of main propulsion machine designed is up to 21kW·N·m/kg2, and the index is increased by 3.2 times. The optimal method based on the multi-physical field analysis can be also applied to other high energy density machines. © 2020, Politechnica University of Bucharest. All rights reserved.

Fabry-perot lasers as enablers for parallel reservoir computing

We introduce the use of Fabry-Perot (FP) lasers as potential neuromorphic computing machines with parallel processing capabilities. With the use of optical injection between a master FP laser and a slave FP laser under feedback we demonstrate the potential for scaling up the processing power at longitudinal mode granularity and perform real-time processing for signal equalization in 25 Gbaud intensity modulation direct detection optical communication systems. We demonstrate the improvement of classification performance as the number of nodes increases and the capability of simultaneous processing of arbitrary data streams. Extensive numerical simulations show that up to 8 longitudinal modes in typical Fabry-Perot lasers can be leveraged so as to enhance classification performance. Copyright © 2020, The Authors.
