This paper presents the study and implementation approaches of microcontroller-based system dynamics emulator for Mechanical system and Electrical system. The main goals of this research are to prove that fixed-point microcontrollers can be used for system dynamics emulator, to study numerical approximation methods for system dynamics modeling and to make a microcontroller working as a system dynamics. Both systems, mechanical and electrical are modeled by Ordinary differential equation method (ODE). The numerical approximation techniques based on Euler's method are studied and used as implementation approaches. The obtained second-order differential equations are then applied by the Reduction of order technique to convert them to first-order differential equations that can be solved by the first-order Euler's methods. The final version of the system equations are finally implemented on a microcontroller and examined thoroughly. The microcontroller that works as a system dynamics connects to a computer through internet network using a standard 802.11b/g Wi-Fi module. Therefore, we can interact with the system running on the microcontroller directly from a web-browser. Web-applications running on a web-browser are used to control and visualize all of system parameters. We closely analyze the experimental results by comparing them with the results obtained by reliable computer software tools, Matlab and Octave. The experimental results show that the proposed approach acquires many desired requirement of system dynamics modeling and it obviously shows that many fixed-point microcontrollers can be properly used for system dynamics emulator.

We demonstrated that the regular behavior-based architecture can be used to control decentralized multiple robots on a tightly-coupled task. With carefully designed behaviors, the robots can work cooperatively and effectively. We divided the behaviors into two types: individual behaviors and group behaviors. Group behaviors, embedded as layers in the behavior-based architecture, act as a mechanism to induce coordination and synchronization among robots. The tightly-coupled task that we use as our testbed is the cooperative overhead transportation of a box, in which two robots have to carry a box over their tops. Little movement error will result in a fall of the box. The result illustrated the validity of the proposed method. The robots can move the box to a goal without falling down with a success rate of 80%.

In this work, we built the hydroponic farm to collect data for creating mathematical models such as transfer functions, state space and ARX models. After that, we create a plant model and design 3 controllers including PID, MPC and adaptive MPC (AMPC). In addition, we create a disturbance model with a transfer function from individual data. Afterward, we defined 2 scenarios for the experiment, including a nominal system and a system with noise and disturbance scenarios. In order to evaluate these performances of controller, we consider integral of absolute error (IAE), integral of square error (ISE), integral of absolute control input (IACI) and integral of square control input (ISCI) score.

In the disk drive industry, head gimbal assemblies (HGAs) may be individually tested prior installation in a disk drive. While performing a test, a false negative result may be created because of external air turbulence caused by the rotation of the test disk. The objective of this paper is to find a model of the servo system in HGA testing system so that we know how to adjust the command to get rid of the effect of disturbance. The technique so called Transfer Function Determination Code (TFDC) is proposed to model the system in the frequency domain. In addition, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) is used to adjust the weights in TFDC algorithm in each frequency. The simulation results show a comparison of different inertia weight adjustments for the models.

The problem of solving a system of logical functions that occurs in the analysis and synthesis of intelligent control systems for nonlinear dynamic plants is considered. The arithmetic of logical functions is proposed by using the Zhegalkin basis and the evolutionary solution of the system of logical functions by means of a genetic algorithm. Holographic 3D display is highly desirable for numerous applications ranging from medical treatments to military ***,it is challenging to simultaneously achieve large viewing angle and high-fidelity color reconstruction due to the intractable constraints of existing ***,we conceptually propose and experimentally demonstrate a simple and feasible pathway of using a well-designed color liquid crystal grating to overcome the inevitable chromatic aberration and enlarge the holographic viewing angle,thus enabling large-viewing-angle and color holographic 3D *** use of color liquid crystal grating allows performing secondary diffraction modulation on red,green and blue reproduced images simultaneously and extending the viewing angle in the holographic 3D display *** principle,a chromatic aberration-free hologram generation mechanism in combination with the color liquid crystal grating is proposed to pave the way for on such a superior holographic 3D *** proposed system shows a color viewing angle of~50.12°,which is about 7 times that of the traditional system with a single spatial light *** work presents a paradigm for achieving desirable holographic 3D display,and is expected to provide a new way for the wide application of holographic display.

As China increasingly interconnecting power system, more and more factors are interfering with the stable operation of the power system. Due to the lack of system reactive power and the overload, resulting in the increasingly problem of low voltage amplitude. Voltage is a measure of whether the power system operation is basically normal index, the voltage level of the power network determines whether the whole power system is stable or not. The dispatcher and operator need to answer any specific challenges to solve the under-voltage in training simulator. In this paper, based on the analytical sensitivity method, the basic principle of the low voltage problem is solved by the method of load shedding and reactive power compensation. Then the low voltage control method is optimized from two aspects of the load shedding load and reactive power compensation. The reactive power compensation with high sensitivity is presented. If the voltage of the compensation is not returned to the allowable range of the state, cutting the load operation according to the magnitude of the load-shedding sensitivity. Using power system simulation software to build a low voltage model of the IEEE-39 classic power system for the sensitivity index and the low voltage optimization control methods are analyzed and verified. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

In most industrial automation systems, all machines and equipment must operate smoothly and continuously to maintain the system performance. Therefore, all kinds of unexpected failures of the system cannot be accepted. For this reason, the maintenance processes are the essential operations performed periodically to avoid system failures. Of course, this operation takes time and resources, but it cannot be avoided. It is known that most automation systems compose of electrical motors. They are the core devices for robots and other movable machines. Each motor produces meaningful parameters such as temperature, vibration, speed, noise, and power consumption. This paper presents the design and development techniques of the IoT-based embedded device that can be used for real-time monitoring and analysis of the unexpected operations of motors. The proposed device continuously senses and analyzes motor parameters to monitor and predict unexpected operations. We focus on temperature and unbalanced phenomenal measurement of the motors. The unbalanced parameter is implicitly measured from the speed changes using the time measurement of the sensing signals. The proposed device also supports wireless real-time data exchange to the server. The device and server exchange their data using the WebSockets protocol. The data sent to the server can be used for storage, processing, and monitoring. In this work, we also develop a web-based application that allows users to control and monitor the parameters of motors in real-time. The experimental results show that the proposed method can detect the unbalance operations and temperature of the motors at different operations. Therefore, the proposed system can be used in real-world applications that require abnormality detection, abnormal condition warning, and prediction of mechanical devices.

This paper investigates the stochastic stability problem of genetic regulatory networks (GRNs) with multiple time-varying delays. Most of the results on the stability of GRNs with delays are based on a model in which the delays of the transcription and translation processes for each gene product take the same value. In this paper, we generalized the model to a differential equation with multiple time-varying delays. Sufficient conditions for the stochastic stability of the GRNs with stochastic noise are obtained. Finally, a simulation example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed results. © 2012 Intl Jrnal Advanced Mech.
