Weak feedback self-mixing interference fringe slope discrimination method based on deep learning

In order to identify the tilt direction of the self-mixing interference (SMI) signals under weak feedback regime interfered by noise， a deep learning method is proposed. The one-dimensional U-Net (1D U-Net) neural network can discriminate the direction of self-mixing fringes accurately and quickly. For experimental SMI signals， the 1D U-Net can be used for discriminant direction after a one-step normalization. Simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method is suitable for SMI signals with noise within the whole weak feedback regime， and can maintain a high discrimination accuracy for signals interfered by 5dB noise. Combined with fringe counting method， accurate and rapid SMI signal displacement reconstruction can be realized.

An advantage of bio-inspired robots is the versatility of their locomotion on a wide range of terrains that conventional robots are not able to traverse. The snake-like robot, which is a mechanism designed to move in the manner of a biological snake, is an example of a bio-inspired platform. This paper aims to implement and validate, using real and simulation tests on flat terrain, a snake-like endoskeleton robot that permits serpentine movement with adaptive control capabilities. The prototype mechatronic robot was comprised of eleven segments that were 3D printed sequentially. A simulation using Matlab’s Multibody Mechanics tool determines the necessary torques for each motor. In this simulation, a parameterized virtual model of the robot is created, where rectilinear gaits are programmed. In accordance with simulation and experimental results, the robot undertakes different times to reach the goal trajectory or end points depending on the frequency, angular position, and wave length (duty cycle). As a result, there is a high degree of similarity between the simulation tests and those conducted with the prototype endoskeleton. Furthermore, the robot is equipped with machine vision capabilities that allow it to detect faults within oil and gas pipes for the purpose of inspection and maintenance. Furthermore, a Model Reference Adaptive control (MRAC) method based on Lyapunov stability analysis and MIT rules is proposed. The theoretical analysis and numerical simulation show that the designed trajectory tracking control law can make the multi-joint snake-like robot track the trajectory of the front joint when the robot encounters disturbances and stabilize the angular position and velocity of the first two head joints when disturbances occur. © 2024 IEEE.

Decomposition offers the potential to reduce the complexity of model-based optimization, prediction, control and diagnosis by accounting for the structure and sparsity of the describing model. Motivated by this fact, a rich and powerful collection of decomposition methods are available for model based diagnosis of large-scale complex dynamic systems, too. At the same time, one usually does not have enough information about a large-scale complex dynamic system to construct its precise enough model, so a kind of qualitative dynamic model is often used for the diagnosis [1]. Two structural decomposition based qualitative diagnostic methods are presented in this lecture, together with their component-driven system decomposition ***, a model-based diagnostic method is described that is able to detect and isolate non-technical losses (illegal loads) in low voltage electrical grids of one transformer area [2]. As a preliminary off-line step of the diagnosis, a powerful electrical decomposition method is proposed, which breaks down the overall network to subsystems with one feeder layout enabling to make the necessary computations efficient. The diagnostic method is based on analyzing the differences between the measured and model-predicted voltages. The uncertainty in the model parameters together with the measurement uncertainties are also taken into account to make the approach applicable in real-world cases. The proposed method is able to detect and localize multiple illegal loads, and the amount of the illegal consumption can also be *** a second case study, a high level decomposition approach for process system fault diagnosis using event traces is given [3], [4]. Using a simple component graph model behind the process system and the measured trace applied for the diagnosis, the method can find the root cause(s) of propagating failures between separate components. In this work, a Voronoi-TCAD co-simulation framework is developed to investigate the impact of intrinsic and extrinsic variation sources on the performance and variability of 2D-layered TFTs. It is found that : i) High trap density exacerbates device variability by amplifying localized energy barriers and enhancing barrier interference;ii) The device variability reaches peak value for intermediate numbers of grains, while increased numbers of grains reduce overall variability due to statistical averaging effects, highlighting the importance of considering both the quantity of grain boundaries and their spatial distribution as key variability sources;iii) interlayer interactions in multilayer structures further exaggerate the device variability, particularly for the on-current. This demands precise control of grain alignment and distribution. These findings emphasize the importance of grain engineering strategies, such as optimizing grain size, reducing defect density, and improving interlayer uniformity, to suppress variability and enhance device performance in large-scale 2D-layered TFT applications. © 2025 IEEE.

This study addresses linear attacks on remote state estimation within the context of a constrained alarm rate. Smart sensors, which are equipped with local Kalman filters, transmit innovations instead of raw measurements through a wireless communication network. This transmission is vulnerable to malicious data interception and manipulation by attackers. The aim of this research is to identify the optimal attack strategy that degrades the system performance while adhering to stealthiness constraints. A notable innovation of this paper is the direct association of the attack's stealthiness with the alarm rate, diverging from traditional approaches that rely on the covariance of the innovation or the Kullback-Leibler divergence, which are conventional metrics that have been extensively explored in previous studies. Our findings reveal that the optimal attack strategy exhibits some structural characteristics in systems of low dimensions. The performance of the proposed attack strategy is demonstrated through numerical examples. © 2024 IEEE.

Water is a crucial resource that has been experiencing a continuous decline in quality over the years. Therefore, treating water has become a top priority, and the need to respect it has been recognized since ancient times. UV-c technology is an excellent solution that addresses both of these requirements effectively. The concept of UV bactericidal treatment involves the generation of ultraviolet rays inside a treatment chamber containing water. To ensure the effectiveness of UV-c disinfection, it is crucial to provide a reliable power supply to the low-pressure mercury-argon discharge lamps. In this research, the main objective is to determine the most optimal power source. To achieve this goal, the discharge lamp-electronic ballast system will be powered by three different types of converters. The first power supply utilizes a conventional converter, consisting of a half-bridge rectifier and inverter with PWM control. The second power supply employs a 4-cell serial multicell converter, which adopts a control strategy that modulates duty cycles. The third power supply is based on a single-phase matrix converter. In order to achieve the desired amplitude and frequency, a linear adjustment of the current is applied using a PI regulator. This approach aims to improve the quality of the current waveform and reduce total harmonic distortion (THD). The simulations for these power supply configurations were conducted using Matlab/Simpower system. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper investigates the stabilization of underactuated vehicles moving in a three-dimensional vector *** vehicle’s model is established on the matrix Lie group SE(3),which describes the configuration of rigid bodies globally and *** focus on the kinematic model of the underactuated vehicle,which features an underactuation form that has no sway and heave *** compensate for the lack of these two velocities,we construct additional rotation matrices to generate a motion of rotation coupled with ***,the state feedback is designed with the help of the logarithmic map,and we prove that the proposed control law can exponentially stabilize the underactuated vehicle to the identity group element with an almost global domain of ***,the presented control strategy is extended to set-point stabilization in the sense that the underactuated vehicle can be stabilized to an arbitrary desired configuration specified in ***,simulation examples are provided to verify the effectiveness of the stabilization controller.

In this work, a tube-based nearly optimal solution to motion planning in unknown workspaces is presented. The advantages of reactive motion planning are combined with a Policy Iteration Reinforcement Learning scheme to yield a novel solution for unknown workspaces that inherits provable safety, convergence and optimality. Moreover, in simply-connected workspaces, our method is proven to asymptotically provide the globally optimal path. Our method is compared against a provably asymptotically optimal RRT ⋆ method, as well as a relevant reactive method and provides satisfactory performance, closely matching or outperforming the former.
