This work demonstrates four grid service use cases using a service-oriented DER Management System within an Energy Grid of Things network. Imposed by a set of rules referred to as the Energy Service Interface, the DER Management System uses IEEE 2030.5 as its primary communication protocol. To simulate the efforts of Grid Operators, Grid Service Providers, and consumers to provide grid services, a co-simulation environment that leverages the GridAPPS-D simulation platform was developed. The results show that a service-oriented DER Management System provides a means of achieving reliable and impactful grid services while protecting customers' privacy and ensuring their agency over their Distributed Energy Resources.

As one of the most promising materials for two-dimensional transition metal chalcogenides(2D TMDs),molybdenum diselenide(MoSe_(2))has great potential in photodetectors due to its excellent properties like tunable bandgap,high carrier mobility,and excellent air *** 2D MoSe_(2)-based photodetectors have been reported to exhibit admired performance,the large-area 2D MoSe_(2)layers are difficult to be achieved via conventional synthesis methods,which severely impedes its future ***,we present the controllable growth of large-area 2D MoSe_(2)layers over 3.5-inch with excellent homogeneity by a simple post-selenization ***,a high-quality n-MoSe_(2)/p-Si van der Waals(vdW)heterojunction device is in-situ fabricated by directly growing 2D n-MoSe_(2)layers on the patterned p-Si substrate,which shows a self-driven broadband photoresponse ranging from ultraviolet to mid-wave infrared with an impressive responsivity of 720.5 mA·W^(−1),a high specific detectivity of 10^(13) Jones,and a fast response time to follow nanosecond pulsed optical *** addition,thanks to the inch-level 2D MoSe_(2)layers,a 4×4 integrated heterojunction device array is achieved,which has demonstrated good uniformity and satisfying imaging *** large-area 2D MoSe_(2)layer and its heterojunction device array have great promise for high-performance photodetection and imaging applications in integrated optoelectronic systems.

This paper proposed a passive fault tolerant control (FTC) approach for the class of linear parameter-varying systems to deal with faults and failures in the actuator channel. The method provided in this study combines the robustness feature of integral sliding mode control (ISMC) and control allocation (CA) obtained through singular value decomposition of the input matrix. The purpose is to effectively handle faults and failures along the entire operating spectrum, which involves various scheduling parameters. This technique is effective because the same baseline controller, initially developed for a nominal system, can deal with a wide range of faults and failures without acquiring fault information. The performance of ISM-FTC is tested on a longitudinal model of aircraft system. Numerical simulations indicate no noticeable difference in tracking performance between nominal and faulty conditions.

One type of wheeled mobile robot widely used in public transportation and for carrying high payloads is the tractor-Trailer wheeled robots (TTWRs). This study considers a differentially-driven tractor under pure rolling conditions, which is subject to nonholonomic constraints. controlling a TTWR in both backward and forward motion is challenging due to inherent instability. To address this issue and achieve trajectory tracking control for these systems, this paper employs dynamic feedback linearization (DFL) to overcome the limitations of static feedback linearization (SFL). The system's response will be examined under various trajectories and initial conditions for both forward and backward motion. © 2024 IEEE.

ChatBCI: A P300 Speller BCI Leveraging Large Language Models for Improved Sentence Composition in Realistic Scenarios

P300 speller brain computer interfaces (BCIs) allow users to compose sentences by selecting target keys on a graphical user interface (GUI) through the detection of P300 component in their electroencephalogram (EEG) signals following visual stimuli. Most existing P300 speller BCIs require users to spell all or the first few initial letters of the intended word, letter by letter. Consequently, a large number of keystrokes are required to write a sentence, which can be time consuming, increasing user’s cognitive load and fatigue. Therefore, there is a need for more efficient and user-friendly methods for faster, and practical sentence composition. In this work, we introduce ChatBCI, a P300 speller BCI that leverages the zero-shot learning capabilities of large language models (LLMs) to suggest words from user-spelled initial letters or predict the subsequent word(s), reducing keystrokes and accelerating sentence composition. ChatBCI retrieves word suggestions through remote queries to the GPT-3.5 API. A new GUI, displaying GPT-3.5 word suggestions as extra keys is designed. Stepwise linear discriminant analysis (SWLDA) is used for the P300 classification. Seven subjects completed two online spelling tasks: 1) copy-spelling a self-composed sentence using ChatBCI, and 2) improvising a sentence using ChatBCI’s word suggestions. Results demonstrate that in Task 1, on average, ChatBCI outperforms letter-by-letter BCI spellers, reducing time and keystrokes by 62.14% and 53.22%, respectively, and increasing information transfer rate by 198.96%. In Task 2, ChatBCI achieves 80.68% keystroke savings and a record 8.53 characters/min for typing speed. Overall, ChatBCI by employing remote LLM queries enhances sentence composition in realistic scenarios, significantly outperforming traditional spellers without requiring local model training or storage. microRNAs play an important role in post-transcriptional gene regulation. Recently, viral microRNAs have been discovered in several viruses, including Hepatitis B virus. This article deals with a series of six organic D-n-A molecules consisting of thiophene and carbazole. This series includes molecules with identical donor and acceptor groups, but different π-systems. We examined the effect of substituting thiophene (T) with phenylene (P), carbazole (C), fluorene (F) and anthracene (A) as π-systcms on the physical properties of these molecules. Using one-dimensional microelectronic and photonic structure analysis (AMPS-1D), we investigated and simulated the operational characteristics of orgnic heterojunction solar cells. These solar cells were constructed using the compound D1-B-Ed-B-D2-A as electron donor and [6], [6]-phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) as electron acceptor. The performance of organic photovoltaic cells has shown significant improvements on various parameters, such as open-circuit voltage (Voc), short-circuit current density (Jsc), fill factor (FF), power conversion efficiency (PCE), as well as series resistance (Rs) and shunt resistance (Rsh). In addition, devices based on P3-B-Ed-B-T3-A/PCBM and P3-B-Ed-B-T3-A/PCBM show power conversion efficiencies (PCE) of 8% and 9%, respectively. The introduction of a PEDOT layer between the indium-tin oxide (ITO) and the aluminum oxide layer significantly improved the performance of devices based on P3-B-Ed-B-T3-A/PCBM and P3-B-Ed-B-P3-A/PCBM, with PCEs of 14% and 15%, respectively.

Network programming is the act of writing computer codes for communications between programs or processes in different computers across networks. It is crucial for applications and services using networks, including e-commerce, gaming, and social media. However, university courses of educating it are very limited. As a result, it has become important to develop and offer IT tools to support self-studies of network programming by novices. In this paper, we present a study of two types of introductory exercise problems, namely, Grammar-concept Understanding Problem (GUP) and Comment Insertion Problem (CIP), for self-studies of five basic network protocols of TCP/IP, ARP, SMTP, POP3, and SSH with Python. A GUP instance requests to answer the keyword such as a library function in the given source code that corresponds to the grammar concept described in the question. A CIP instance requests to insert the comment at each blank of the code. String matching is adopted to mark any answer at the browser-based answer interface. Through solving them, it is expected to understand the meaning of important words and the code structure for network programming. As preliminary evaluations, we generated six GUP and CIP instances respectively, and assigned them to 10 students in Okayama University, Japan. The results confirmed that the proposal is proper for novices to learn network programming with Python. © 2023 ACM.

The topology selection plays a key role in minimizing the losses and improving the output waveform quality of an inverter. In addition, increasing the switching frequency of an inverter help to reduce the size of EMI filters resulting in power density improvement. Use of wide-bandgap device (like SiC devices) enables high switching frequency operation in power electronic converters. However, due to low gate charge and small junction capacitance of SiC devices, the SiC-based inverter is more likely to be influenced by side-effects of fast switching transition like undesired ringing, larger voltage overshoot and mistriggerig due to miller-effect. Parasitic inductances of multiple power loops and gate loops within the inverter leg play a key role in these undesired effects, however, a proper design of PCB-layout can reduce these effects. In this paper, a comparison is conducted between a T-type and 2-level inverter topologies for motor drive applications. Furthermore, a placement configuration of components along with the PCB layout are proposed for a T-type leg to improve its switching transition behavior by reducing the power and gate loop parasitic inductances. The parasitic inductances of proposed configuration are estimated using FEA simulation, and the estimated values are used to simulate the switching transition behavior of a T-type leg. Finally, a Double Pulse Test (DPT) is executed to demonstrate the accurate switching transition behaviour of a T-type leg which is designed with the proposed PCB layout and component placement.
