As China's steel production accounts for an increasing share of the world's output, the intelligent transformation of the steel industry is becoming increasingly urgent. To address issues such as low levels of mobile informationization in steel enterprises and the lack of an industry-specific mobile application platform, it is of great significance to establish a shared mobile application platform for the steel industry. In this paper, the requirements of the platform were analyzed, and the platform's functions were designed. The software design of the platform was then carried out, and the entire mobile application sharing platform was developed, effectively improving the production management efficiency of steel enterprises. The results indicate that the platform can effectively meet the needs of steel enterprises and has significant engineering significance. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of Automation.

Real-time temperature information is crucial for optimizing cooling processes during steel strip rolling, ensuring the attainment of desired microstructural properties and surface quality at an optimal cooling rate. Infrared line scanners emerge as the preferred choice for temperature measurement in highspeed rolling operations, delivering temperature readings with high resolution and enabling the capture of detailed temperature profiles. By analyzing these profiles, cooling systems can be finely adjusted and precisely controlled to optimize the rolling operation. However, developing effective cooling strategies becomes challenging when dealing with temperature profiles comprising numerous discrete data points, often numbering in the thousands per profile. This study presents an innovative approach that integrates the detection of steel strip boundaries within temperature profiles and subsequent temperature pattern characterization using polynomial fitting. A significant advantage is demonstrated by leveraging the coefficients of Legendre polynomials, which provide a concise description of temperature profile shapes, facilitating straightforward approaches to cooling strategies. By integrating boundary detection with temperature characterization, the system enhances its ability to predict tailored cooling patterns, optimizing cooling efficiency, and enhancing product quality in the manufacturing process. Rigorous testing using both synthetic data and real-world applications in cold and hot rolling validates the proposed system's practical utility and reliability. These results underscore its potential to enhance efficiency and quality in industrial steel manufacturing operations.

Changes in coal seam hardness cause fluctuations in the feed resistance at the drill bit during the drilling process, leading to unstable feeding speed. This paper proposes a robust dynamic output feedback controller to suppress disturbances caused by the variations in coal seam hardness in the feed system. Firstly, an unknown parameter measuring coal seam hardness is introduced, and an uncertain model of the feeding system is established based on the finite element model of the drill string. By designing weighted functions based on industrial field requirements and constructing a generalized plant, the controller achieves loop shaping, reducing the low-frequency impact of coal seam hardness variations on the feed system and suppressing the systems resonance peak. Simulation results demonstrate that the controller effectively suppresses parameter variations and external disturbances caused by changes in coal seam hardness, achieving stable control of the drilling speed.

Fruit harvesting poses a significant labor and financial burden on the fruit industry, which underscore the urgent need for advancements in robotic harvesting solutions. Despite considerable progress in leveraging deep learning and machine learning techniques for fruit detection, a common shortfall is the inability to swiftly extend the developed models across different orchards and/or various fruit species. Additionally, the limited availability of pertinent data further compounds these challenges. In this work, we introduce MetaFruit, the largest publicly available multi-class fruit dataset, comprising 4,248 images and 248,015 manually labeled instances across diverse U.S. orchards. Furthermore, this study proposes an innovative open-set fruit detection system leveraging advanced Vision Foundation Models (VFMs) for fruit detection that can adeptly identify a wide array of fruit types under varying orchard conditions. This system not only demonstrates remarkable adaptability in learning from minimal data through few-shot learning but also shows the ability to interpret human instructions for subtle detection tasks. The performance of the developed foundation model is comprehensively evaluated across several metrics, outperforming existing state-of-the-art algorithms in our MetaFruit, thereby setting a new benchmark in the field of agricultural technology and robotic harvesting. The MetaFruit dataset (https://***/datasets/jiajiali/metafruit) and detection framework (https://***/JiajiaLi04/FMFruit) are open-sourced to foster future research in vision-based fruit harvesting, marking a significant stride toward addressing the urgent needs of the agricultural sector. © 2024 ASABE Annual International Meeting. Engineered common environmental effects on multitransistor systems

In this paper, we analyze the impact of physically large baths used in terminals of thermal multitransistor systems formed using two-level systems (TLSs). In particular, we simulate the effects of a two-transistor system introduced as a thermal Darlington pair (DP). The size and proximity of the baths can cause multiple interactions with the transistor terminals represented by the TLS, not just the TLS directly connected to them. Such interactions can ultimately suppress the heat flows or impair the transistor action. However, we demonstrate that the DP model can achieve more than a 50% increase in heat flows. Using the engineered interactions leading to the correlated TLS-thermal bath interactions, we establish an incoherent (no quantum coherence in the density matrix at the steady state) yet correlated (joint excitation of two TLSs due to bath interaction) heat transfer model to a two-transistor arrangement in a substrate. This model helps us to interpret the environmental effects on the device by treating the common environment as separate thermal baths and all the transitions in the system as independent. We also show that this model can be mapped to contain dark-states. These dark-states can provide an external channel for transistor switching. We use this knowledge to design thermal counterparts of electronic AND and OR gates, and to study their switching time and operation, paving the way to realizing thermal logic gates.

In this paper, we introduce a systematic design of an end-to-end cyber-secure monitoring and safe operation framework for solar photovoltaic (PV)-rich microgrids, by focusing on the use of on-line attack detector for defending against potential cyber-physical attacks and sensor measurement data processing for operational safety. The proposed approach is based on: 1) identifying component models using their input and output measurements; 2) dynamic watermarking (DW) methodology for on-line cyber-attack detection and its timing; and 3) an adaptive event-driven safe shutdown procedure after attack detection. It is shown how these three components interactive steps jointly to ensure safe operation under both normal operational scenarios and compromised operational scenarios with some malicious sensors caused by cyber-attacks on solar PV microgrids. Through this on-line integration, the proposed framework dynamically adapts to varying solar irradiance, load demands, operating conditions, and potential cyber-physical attacks. This forms a cyber-physical system which can pro-actively detect and mitigate potential cyber-physical attacks on solar PV microgrids. We describe its proof-of-concept implementation using real-world industrial solar farm data provided by the CenterPoint Energy. This study contributes to enhancing the cyber-security and safe operation of solar PVrich power systems, offering a scalable solution to other types of emerging renewable-rich energy distribution systems.

While monotone operator theory is often studied on Hilbert spaces, many interesting problems in machine learning and optimization arise naturally in finite-dimensional vector spaces endowed with non-Euclidean norms, such as diagonally-weighted ℓ1 or ℓ1 norms. This paper provides a natural generalization of monotone operator theory to finitedimensional non-Euclidean spaces. The key tools are weak pairings and logarithmic norms. We show that the resolvent and reected resolvent operators of non-Euclidean monotone mappings exhibit similar properties to their counterparts in Hilbert spaces. Furthermore, classical iterative methods and splitting methods for finding zeros of monotone operators are shown to converge in the non-Euclidean case. We apply our theory to equilibrium computation and Lipschitz constant estimation of recurrent neural networks, obtaining novel iterations and tighter upper bounds via forward-backward splitting.

The asymptotic implausibility problem is introduced from the perspective of an adversary that seeks to drive the belief of a recursive Bayesian estimator away from a particular set of parameter values. It is assumed that the adversary controls all sensors informing the estimator, and can transmit false measurements stochastically according to a fixed distribution of its choice. First, we outline a method for verifying whether a given distribution solves the problem. We then consider the class of spoofing attacks, and show that the asymptotic implausibility problem has a solution if and only if it can be solved by a spoofing attack. Attention is restricted to finite parameter and observation spaces.

This paper introduces an innovative approach for determining the dynamic stability margin of a power system. The method employs a Genetic Algorithm (GA) to optimize the parameters of a Conventional Power System Stabilizer (CPSS) linked with the Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) in a multi-machine power system. The objective is to tune the stabilizers in a way that effectively shifts the lightly damped and undamped electromechanical modes of all plants to a specified region in the s-plane. To achieve this, a multiobjective problem is formulated, optimizing a composite set of objective functions that include the damping factor of the lightly damped electromechanical modes. The dynamic behavior of the system is assessed using small signal stability analysis, while the stability of the system is evaluated by monitoring the variations of eigenvalues under line-to-ground (LG) fault conditions. The proposed method is then demonstrated on a 3-machine 9-bus system, and the effectiveness and robustness of the suggested Power System Stabilizers (PSSs) are showcased by incorporating them into a conventional AVR-PSS model. This allows the proposed approach to efficiently damp low-frequency oscillations in the power system.
