Stereo image sand removal is crucial to improve the perceptual quality for autonomous driving perception. Existing methods often fall short in accurately estimating the uncertainty inherent in degraded images, leading to suboptimal outcomes. To address this, we introduce a novel framework named Decoupling While Coupling(DWC). DWC pioneers the integration of inter-view uncertainty estimation, cross-view uncertainty-aware interaction and block-wise uncertainty representation for superior stereo image sand removal. For cross-view information interaction, we propose an Uncertainty-aware Cross-view Attentive Interaction module(UCAI) to cope with the lack of uncertainty estimation ability in the existing cross-view information interaction mechanism. For the uncertainty perception and information interaction within the inter-view, we propose a Distribution Modeling Coupling Block(DMCB), which transmits the representation of uncertainty between each backbone module. For block-wise uncertainty estimation, we use our proposed Uncertainty-aware Distribution Feature Modulator(UDFM) as the backbone of DWC to modulate the uncertainty inside the neural network itself. Extensive experimental validations on our proposed stereo image sand removal dataset SandST confirm the efficacy of DWC. Our method not only achieves higher PSNR and SSIM, but also exhibits enhanced robustness against various sand degrees and patterns. © 2025 IEEE.

This paper introduces a new variational Gaussian filtering approach for estimating the state of a nonlinear dynamic system. We first assume that the predictive distribution of the state is Gaussian and derive an iterative method for updating the state posterior in the natural parameter space through KullbackLeibler divergence minimization. The obtained update rule is the same as that of the conjugate-computation variational inference technique in Bayesian learning. The derivation here is simpler and more insightful. We then impose a Wishart prior on the inverse of the state prediction covariance to take into account the impact of approximating the state predictive distribution using a Gaussian density on the state posterior estimation. The prediction covariance is identified jointly with the state using variational inference and the established state posterior update rule to achieve the desired Gaussian filtering. Simulation study examines the performance of the proposed filtering framework in target tracking based on bearing and range measurements. © 2024 ISIF.

Inspired by the current practice where mixed data is the norm instead of exceptions and the privacy concerns on data management, we propose a differentially private mixed data clustering (DPMC) algorithm considering the cluster analysis on both numerical and categorical data. First, we design an adaptive privacy budget allocation method to analyze the loss due to added noise, thus determining the number of iterations and the privacy budget given accuracy and dataset characteristics. Next, we develop an optimization method based on consistency inference for categorical attributes, in order to improve the clustering performance. Finally, comparative experiments have been carried out using four real-world datasets. This paper constructs a non-cooperative/cooperative stochasticdifferential game model to prove that the optimal strategies trajectory ofagents in a system with a topological configuration of a Multi-Local-Worldgraph would converge into a certain attractor if the system’s configuration isfixed. Due to the economics and management property, almost all systems aredivided into several independent Local-Worlds, and the interaction betweenagents in the system is more complex. The interaction between agents inthe same Local-World is defined as a stochastic differential cooperativegame;conversely, the interaction between agents in different Local-Worldsis defined as a stochastic differential non-cooperative game. We construct anon-cooperative/cooperative stochastic differential game model to describethe interaction between agents. The solutions of the cooperative and noncooperativegames are obtained by invoking corresponding theories, and thena nonlinear operator is constructed to couple these two solutions *** last, the optimal strategies trajectory of agents in the system is proven toconverge into a certain attractor, which means that strategies trajectory arecertainty as time tends to infinity or a large positive integer. It is concluded thatthe optimal strategy trajectory with a nonlinear operator of cooperative/noncooperativestochastic differential game between agents can make agentsin a certain Local-World coordinate and make the Local-World paymentmaximize, and can make the all Local-Worlds equilibrated;furthermore, theoptimal strategy of the coupled game can converge into a particular attractorthat decides the optimal property.

A conceptual ontological model of Digital Crime has been developed, consisting of five non-empty classes. Identification and classification were carried out according to the experience of domestic and foreign experts. The central place of the model is occupied by objects of the Digital Crime class, which have their own attributes and are connected by various links with other objects. Objects of some classes are filled in by users, others are formed by knowledge engineers. Based on the ontological analysis, SWRL-rules are constructed that automatically form links between objects of the custom classes Digital crime and Digital evidence with objects of the Type of crime and Criminal Liability classes. The last class contains articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine on criminal liability for digital crimes. The ontological model is developed taking into account possible requests to it. Such queries can be formed on the basis of direct relationships between human and automatic concepts. And also contain logical chains to concepts that do not contain an explicit link in the ontology. It is assumed that the model can be expanded and supplemented. The ontological model of Digital Crime can be used to share information, develop new systems and applications, improve information retrieval and ensure its accordance. © 2023 IEEE.

A Globally Convergent Method for Computing B-stationary Points of Mathematical Programs with Equilibrium Constraints

This paper introduces a method that globally converges to Bstationary points of mathematical programs with equilibrium constraints (MPECs) in a finite number of iterations. B-stationarity is necessary for optimality and means that no feasible first-order direction improves the objective. Given a feasible point of an MPEC, B-stationarity can be certified by solving a linear program with equilibrium constraints (LPEC) constructed at this point. The proposed method solves a sequence of LPECs, which either certify B-stationarity or provide an active-set estimate for the complementarity constraints, and nonlinear programs (NLPs) - referred to as branch NLPs (BNLPs) - obtained by fixing the active set in the MPEC. A BNLP is more regular than the MPEC, easier to solve, and with the correct active set, its solution coincides with the solution of the MPEC. The method has two phases: the first phase identifies a feasible BNLP or certifies local infeasibility, and the second phase solves a finite sequence of BNLPs until a B-stationary point of the MPECis found. The paper provides a detailed convergence analysis and discusses implementation details. In addition, extensive numerical experiments and an open-source software implementation are provided. By means of the linear parameter-varying (LPV) Fundamental Lemma, we derive novel data-driven predictive control (DPC) methods for LPV systems. In particular, we present output-feedback and state-feedback-based LPV-DPC methods with terminal ingredients, which guarantee exponential stability and recursive feasibility. We provide methods for the data-based computation of these terminal ingredients. Furthermore, an in-depth analysis of the application and implementation aspects of the LPV-DPC schemes is given, including application for nonlinear systems and handling noisy data. We compare and demonstrate the performance of the proposed methods in a detailed simulation example involving a nonlinear unbalanced disc system. © 2023, CC BY-NC-SA.

Small object detection aims to localize and classify small objects within images. With recent advances in large-scale vision-language pretraining, finetuning pretrained object detection models has emerged as a promising approach. However, finetuning large models is computationally and memory expensive. To address this issue, this paper introduces multi-point positional insertion (MPI) tuning, a parameter-efficient finetuning (PEFT) method for small object detection. Specifically, MPI incorporates multiple positional embeddings into a frozen pretrained model, enabling the efficient detection of small objects by providing precise positional information to latent features. Through experiments, we demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method on the SODA-D dataset. MPI performed comparably to conventional PEFT methods, including CoOp and VPT, while significantly reducing the number of parameters that need to be tuned.

Strong Stabilization of the Acrobot at the Down–Up Equilibrium Point ⋆

In this paper, the strong stabilization of the Acrobot at the Down-Up equilibrium point is addressed, with the first link being downward and the second link being upright. By converting the strong stabilization of the Acrobot at the Down–Up equilibrium point equivalently to the existence and design of a stable stabilizing controller for a fourth-order single-input single-output linear plant with adjustable zeros, a pair of poles on the imaginary axis, and a pair of real poles located symmetrically with respect to the origin, this paper has three main contributions. Firstly, the existence of a stable stabilizing controller for any Acrobot which is linearly controllable at the Down–Up equilibrium point is proved by showing the range of the adjustable zero via adjusting a parameter of the output signal. Secondly, a necessary and sufficient condition on the mechanical parameters of the Acrobot is provided to guarantee the existence of a second-order stable stabilizing controller for the Acrobot around its Down– Up equilibrium point. Thirdly, a direct method is presented to design a second-order stable controller, whose transfer function is preset with three parameters. By utilizing the Liénard– Chipart criterion for a fourth-order polynomial, the necessary and sufficient conditions on these parameters for achieving the strong stabilization are obtained, which are expressed in a cascade form for obtaining these parameters conveniently. A numerical example is presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

This paper proposes a novel approach to improving speech recognition performance by combining spectrogram images with extracted formant frequency data within a dual input neural network framework. While spectrograms are widely used in speech recognition due to their ability to capture time, frequency, and amplitude information, they may not always effectively highlight the subtle characteristics of formant patterns, especially in low resolution images. To address this, we introduce a hybrid model that integrates spectrogram images with formant parameters derived using the linear predictive coding method. The model utilizes parallel convolutional neural network processing spectrogram images and the other handling time series formant data. Outputs are then concatenated and further processed through fully connected layers. This double channel design enables the network to take advantage of complementary information from both spectral and parametric speech features, leading to improved recognition accuracy. The model is trained and evaluated using the Google Speech Commands dataset, achieving superior results compared to traditional KNN classifiers, formant-only models, and standard spectrogram-based CNNs. The proposed method achieves a 93% recognition accuracy, outperforming conventional approaches and demonstrating the potential of formant-augmented neural networks for more robust speech recognition tasks. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.
