Business intelligent connection between quality and evaluation methods: a case study

Nowadays, information and knowledge represent the fundamental wealth of an organisation. Enterprises try to utilise this wealth to gain advantage when making decisions such as a project’s acceptance. After a project finishes, a quality management plan defines its quality level. The business intelligence theories help the individual to evaluate the proposed plan in order to target the project’s results. But, do all the evaluation methods have the same reliability? We check the project’s quality by using paper and online questionnaire administration. Although the scope is the same, there are differences, giving different results. So, we intelligently investigated the quality of the university educational process. The results show that the administration method has a significant effect on overall results. Thus, the quality check of a project using questionnaires needs to have an attentive design, avoid points that introduce uncertainties and able to show the real opinion of the respondents. Evaluation is a process that compares the results with the target, an initial situation with the final one. ‘Evaluate’ means making an assessment based on some measure or information and referring to some criteria. The Formative evaluation is a process which is used by trainers and trainees and provides feedback on updating current teaching and learning methods in order to improve trainer’s achievement in relation of teaching goals. In this case study a research was carried out using the technique of formative evaluation in order to evaluate two thematic areas with the cooperation of the program’s leaders. The aim of the study was to extract conclusions and opinions about the program’s value, the achievement goals and the organisation implementation requirements and how all this results will been feed backed to program managers and policymakers with the appropriate information which are necessary to adopt appropriate corrective interventions for programs quality improvement. Driven by ubiquitous digitalization and cyberattacks on critical infrastructure, there is a high interest in research on the security of cyber-physical systems. If an attacker gains access to protected and sensitive information, such as the internal states of a control system, this is considered a breach of confidentiality. Access to sensitive information can be the first step in a larger cyber-attack scheme, such as a stealthy false data injection attack. Considering process and measurement noise in the plant, existing research investigated when an attacker equipped with a Kalman filter can perfectly estimate the internal controller states if the attacker has access to plant measurements and all model parameters. For this estimate to converge, the controller is required to have stable poles. In this paper, we show that if the attacker has access to the control inputs instead of the plant measurements, the controller needs to have stable zeros. Additionally, we demonstrate that an attacker equipped with an Unknown Input Observer, using tools from delayed system inversion, can get a delayed yet perfect estimate of the controller states from the control inputs without knowledge of the plant's parameters and noise characteristics. Lastly, we present simulation results from a three-tank system to showcase the differences in controller state estimation. © 2024 IEEE.

Warehouses are an important logistic component of various companies. Warehouses may have different layouts, equipment and their own features. Optimization of warehouse operations can decrease overhead costs and increase the economic efficiency of industry. The technological process of steel sheet production at a metallurgical company includes two major stages: casting of liquid steel into billets and rolling of these billets on a rolling mill. In order to coordinate the productivity of these two stages and to be able to fulfill orders promptly, a warehouse of slabs (billets) is used. Billets of different parties and steel grades are stored in stacks. The billets are moved to the warehouse for storage and from the warehouse to the rolling mill by bridge cranes. In this paper the problem of optimization of the process of continuous cast billets storage is solved to minimize the number of slab handling operations. The problem is decomposed into two subproblems SLAP (Storage Location Assignment Problem) and CSP (Crane Scheduling Problem). A modified genetic algorithm was applied to solve the problem. Using a simulation model of the warehouse, the efficiency of the algorithm was evaluated using different approaches to take the restrictions imposed on the process of slab handling into account. It is shown that the most effective is the algorithm in which there is no restriction on the placement of stacks of billets belonging to one melting. © 2024 IEEE.

The effect of the mixing of virtual and actual reality will directly affect the realism and immersion of the augmented assembly system. The correct occlusion relationship and collision interaction between virtual and real objects are crucial to the fusion effect. The existing virtual-real occlusion handling methods cannot be applied to the augmented assembly system with complex contours and changeable scenes. Therefore, an occlusion handling method based on "virtual avatar"of motor equipment is proposed, which has strong robustness and real-time performance. Aiming at the problem that the number of wrong matching pairs of feature points is too large in the 3D registration process, we combine the method of Cosine similarity measurement on the basis of ORB algorithm to improve the accuracy of feature point matching. The current virtual and real object collision detection methods have large computation and low detection accuracy. We propose an octree hierarchical collision detection optimization algorithm based on model surface voxelization representation and volume difference, which improves the detection accuracy on the basis of ensuring computational efficiency. The experimental results show that the proposed methods have high real-time performance and accuracy, and greatly improve the realism and immersion of the augmented assembly system. © 2023 ACM.

The method [K]control of Adaptive Multiple-timescale systems (KAMS) has been used as a method of adaptive control for systems with states that evolve at vastly different rates and with uncertain parameters. Prior research on KAMS has shown a relationship between the asymptotic behavior of the reference models and the behavior of the full-order closed-loop system. Poor reference model design can cause steady-state error or instability even if that reference model is acceptable in a single timescale context, due to adverse feedback between the reference models and the fast-state manifold. This paper simplifies KAMS control design and provides insight into multiple timescale reference models by identifying design considerations for the fast and slow reference models. For fast reference models, it is shown that the stability proofs used in KAMS control design necessarily require the manifold to be an asymptotically stable equilibrium of the fast reference model, despite prior work that allowed other possibilities. In the case of a slow reference model that is not asymptotically stable to its reference signal, it is common for the inner connection conditions to be dependent on the reference signal. This can cause the interconnection conditions to be ill-formatted for the application of the stability proofs used in KAMS control design. This paper addresses that case and proposes the use of Raffoul’s condition as a method to prove stability in the sense of Lyapunov. A linear quadrotor attitude stabilization problem is used as a framework for the slow reference model analysis. Results presented in the paper show that 1) the asymptotic stability of the fast reference model is a necessary condition for the KAMS stability proofs used in prior work and 2) Raffoul’s condition is a sufficient condition for Lyapunov sense stability even when the inner connection conditions are ill-formatted for the KAMS stability proofs used in prior work. © 2025, American Institute of Aeronautics
