Monocular 3D object detection encounters occlusion problems in many application scenarios, such as traffic monitoring, pedestrian monitoring, etc., which leads to serious false negatives. Multi-view object detection effectively solves this problem by combining data from different perspectives. However, due to label confusion and feature confusion, the orientation estimation of multi-view 3D object detection is intractable, which is important for object tracking and intention prediction. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-view 3D object detection method named MVM3Det which simultaneously estimates the 3D position and orientation of the object according to the multi-view monocular information. The method consists of two parts: 1) Position proposal network, which integrates the features from different perspectives into consistent global features through feature orthogonal transformation to estimate the position. 2) Multi-branch orientation estimation network, which introduces feature perspective pooling to overcome the two confusion problems during the orientation estimation. In addition, we present the first dataset for multi-view 3D object detection named MVM3D. Comparing with State-Of-The-Art (SOTA) methods on our dataset and public dataset WildTrack, our method achieves very competitive results. © 2021, CC BY.

In this paper, we present Co Pro Story, a collaborative tangible programming tool to support children learning programming. In recent years, many collaborative tangible programming tools were developed for children. Compared to the other tools, Sync Blocks which were designed to coordinate children’s programming were used in our tool. The tool consists of two parts: Tangible programming blocks and game tasks. Game tasks are provided with 3D cartoon story scenes on computer screen and need to be finished by collaborative programming with our programming blocks. To evaluate our tool, a contrast user study was conducted with 28 children aged 6 to 10. The results demonstrated that CoProStory could support children to program collaboratively and children had a more positive attitude toward programming with Sync Blocks. © ISLS.

In this paper, we present TLogic, a tangible programming tool for children aged 6–8. The tool contains two parts: tangible programming blocks and visual tasks with different difficulty levels. Children could use tangible programming blocks to complete visual tasks shown on computer screen. To evaluate our tool, a user study was conducted with 10 children. Results of user study show that the tool could reduce children’s cognitive load while solving the tasks and children are more interested in challenging tasks than easy tasks in our tool. © 2019, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

In this paper we deal with an overtaking and lane change strategy for autonomous vehicles. The algorithm is divided into two main layers. The upper layer is responsible for the decision making (e.g lane changing). Before decision-making we predict the motion of other participants and divide the road into discrete sets in each interval, then we compute the probability of occupancy. Considering the state of the motion of ego vehicle we can compute the probability of collision. After assigning a graph points to discrete elements, the probability of collision is ordered to the graph edges, then we determine the route with the smallest cost. The decision-making algorithm is not able to control the vehicle, so it is necessary to design a traceable trajectory for the vehicle. Since we have a series of points to be reached for the future, this can be used as a reference vector for the trajectory design algorithm. One Model Predicitve controller (MPC) is responsible for the design of the trajectory so we can obtain limitations to several states to ensure comfort and security. Extending the algorithm, we can compute the longitudinal movement as well. In this paper the decision-making and the trajectory planning algorithm is presented, and the whole model validated in CarMaker. © 2019 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. To elucidate the mechanisms underlying the differences in yield formation among two parents(P1 and P2) and their F1 hybrid of cucumber, biomass production and whole source–sink dynamics were analyzed using a functional–structural plant model(FSPM) that simulates both the number and size of individual organs. Observations of plant development and organ biomass were recorded throughout the growth periods of the plants. The GreenLab Model was used to analyze the differences in fruit setting, organ expansion, biomass production and biomass allocation. The source–sink parameters were estimated from the experimental measurements. Moreover, a particle swarm optimization algorithm(PSO) was applied to analyze whether the fruit setting is related to the source–sink ratio. The results showed that the internal source–sink ratio increased in the vegetative stage and reached a peak until the first fruit setting. The high yield of hybrid F1 is the compound result of both fruit setting and the internal source–sink ratio. The optimization results also revealed that the incremental changes in fruit weight result from the increases in sink strength and proportion of plant biomass allocation for fruits. The model-aided analysis revealed that heterosis is a result of a delicate compromise between fruit setting and fruit sink strength. The organlevel model may provide a computational approach to define the target of breeding by combination with a genetic model.

The main goal of the project is to assure a collusion-free passage through the intersection in the shortest possible traveling time. Firstly, the order of the incoming vehicle is proposed. Using the mentioned order, a nonlinear optimization method is proposed, with the minimum traveling time of the participants, without their collusion is guaranteed. Based on the optimized result a database is created. The second part of the optimization uses this database to solve an another type of problem, when the vehicles steps in the intersection at different moment. Also mentionable the correct choosing of initial values in this part, because it has influence to the degree of optimization. After that, most of the situations can be solved, even if the vehicles have different step-in-time parameters. © 2019 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. All rights reserved.

In evolutionary algorithms, how to effectively select interactive solutions for generating offspring is a challenging problem. Though many operators are proposed, most of them select interactive solutions (parents) randomly, having no specificity for the features of landscapes in various problems. To address this issue, this paper proposes a reinforcement-learning-based evolutionary algorithm to select solutions within the approximated basin of attraction. In the algorithm, the solution space is partitioned by the k-dimensional tree, and features of subspaces are approximated with respect to two aspects: objective values and uncertainties. Accordingly, two reinforcement learning (RL) systems are constructed to determine where to search: the objective-based RL exploits basins of attraction (clustered subspaces) and the uncertainty-based RL explores subspaces that have been searched comparatively less. Experiments are conducted on widely used benchmark functions, demonstrating that the algorithm outperforms three other popular multimodal optimization algorithms.

A global to local double embedding method for multi-person pose estimation

Multi-person pose estimation is a fundamental and challenging problem to many computer vision tasks. Most existing methods can be broadly categorized into two classes: top-down and bottom-up methods. Both of the two types of methods involve two stages, namely, person detection and joints detection. Conventionally, the two stages are implemented separately without considering their interactions between them, and this may inevitably cause some issue intrinsically. In this paper, we present a novel method to simplify the pipeline by implementing person detection and joints detection simultaneously. We propose a Double Embedding (DE) method to complete the multi-person pose estimation task in a global-to-local way. DE consists of Global Embedding (GE) and Local Embedding (LE). GE encodes different person instances and processes information covering the whole image and LE encodes the local limbs information. GE functions for the person detection in top-down strategy while LE connects the rest joints sequentially which functions for joint grouping and information processing in A bottom-up strategy. Based on LE, we design the Mutual Refine Machine (MRM) to reduce the prediction difficulty in complex scenarios. MRM can effectively realize the information communicating between keypoints and further improve the accuracy. We achieve the competitive results on benchmarks MSCOCO, MPII and CrowdPose, demonstrating the effectiveness and generalization ability of our method. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. Modeling dynamic multi-objective optimization problems (DMOPs) has been one of the most challenging tasks in the field of dynamic evolutionary optimization. Based on the analysis of the existing DMOPs, several features widely existed in real-world applications are not taken into account: different objectives may have different function models and variables to be optimized; and the number of conflicting variables should be independent from the number of objectives; the time-linkage property is not considered. In order to overcome the above issues, a novel framework for constructing DMOPs is proposed, where all objectives can be designed independently, and the number of the conflicting variables can be tuned by users. Moreover, it is easy to add new dynamic features to this framework. Several classical dynamic multi-objective optimization algorithms are tested on four scenarios, results show that these characteristics are challenging for the existing algorithms.
