Day-ahead solar irradiance forecast holds important value for optimizing energy utilization within the power system and ensuring stable grid scheduling. The forecast outputs of numerical weather prediction (NWP) are widely acknowledged as one of the indispensable data sources for day-ahead solar irradiance forecast tasks. In previous studies, post-processing methods have generally been employed as correction models to enhance the accuracy of NWP solar irradiance forecasts. However, irradiance sequences contain complex mixed patterns and exhibit various seasonal periodic differences. Based on the analysis of NWP global horizontal irradiance (GHI) error characteristics in this study, errors in NWP GHI forecasts also show obvious seasonal variations. Given these issues, it is challenging for a single correction model to achieve good correction performance and strong seasonal robustness. Therefore, this paper proposes a hybrid model comprising representation learning module, feature sparse activation module, and encoder-decoder-based correction module to address the aforementioned problems. A contrastive-learning-based representation learning module named CoST is introduced to learn disentangled seasonal features and trend features of irradiance sequences. A learnable mixture-of-experts (MoE) layer is adopted to sparsely activate the seasonal-trend features that contribute more to improving correction accuracy. The encoder-decoder-based correction module takes the sparsely activated seasonal-trend features as inputs, achieving the final corrected NWP GHI forecasts. The correction performance of the proposed method was validated on both publicly available datasets and actual field dataset. The results for various datasets show that our proposed CoST-MoELSTM model achieves the highest improvement for NWP forecasts, with increases of 29.82 %, 36.54 %, and 26.58 %. In the Internet of things (IoT) era, vehicles and other intelligent components in an intelligent transportation system (ITS) are connected, forming vehicular networks (VNs) that provide efficient and safe traffic and ubiquitous access to various applications. However, as the number of nodes in an ITS increases, it is challenging to satisfy a varied and large number of service requests with different quality of service (QoS) and security requirements in highly dynamic VNs. Intelligent nodes in VNs can compete or cooperate for limited network resources to achieve the objective for either an individual or a group. Game theory (GT), a theoretical framework designed for strategic interactions among rational decision makers sharing scarce resources, can be used to model and analyze individual or group behaviors of communicating entities in VNs. This paper primarily surveys the recent developments of GT in solving various challenges of VNs. This survey starts with an introduction to the background of VNs. A review of GT models studied in the VNs is then introduced, including the basic concepts, classifications, and applicable vehicular issues. After discussing the requirements of VNs and the motivation of using GT, a comprehensive literature review on GT applications in dealing with the challenges of current VNs is provided. Furthermore, recent contributions of GT to VNs that are integrated with diverse emerging 5G technologies are surveyed. Finally, the lessons learned are given, and several key research challenges and possible solutions of applying GT in VNs are outlined. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. All rights reserved.

We consider a community detection problem for gossip dynamics with stubborn agents in this paper. It is assumed that the communication probability matrix for agent pairs has a block structure. More specifically, we assume that the network can be divided into two communities, and the communication probability of two agents depends on whether they are in the same community. Stability of the model is investigated, and expectation of stationary distribution is characterized, indicating under the block assumption, the stationary behaviors of agents in the same community are similar. It is also shown that agents in different communities display distinct behaviors if and only if state averages of stubborn agents in different communities are not identical. A community detection algorithm is then proposed to recover community structure and to estimate communication probability parameters. It is verified that the community detection part converges in finite time, and the parameter estimation part converges almost surely. Simulations are given to illustrate algorithm performance. To design an effective multi-objective optimization evolutionary algorithms (MOEA), we need to address the following issues: 1) the sensitivity to the shape of true Pareto front (PF) on decomposition-based MOEAs;2) the loss of diversity due to paying so much attention to the convergence on domination-based MOEAs;3) the curse of dimensionality for many-objective optimization problems on grid-based MOEAs. This paper proposes an MOEA based on space partitioning (MOEA-SP) to address the above issues. In MOEA-SP, subspaces, partitioned by a k-dimensional tree (kd-tree), are sorted according to a bi-indicator criterion defined in this paper. Subspace-oriented and Max-Min selection methods are introduced to increase selection pressure and maintain diversity, respectively. Experimental studies show that MOEA-SP outperforms several compared algorithms on a set of benchmarks. © 2020, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

—The mathematical model for many problems is arising in different industries of natural science, basically formulated using differential, integral and integro-differential equations. The investigation of these equations is conducted with the help of numerical integration theory. It is commonly known that a class of problems can be solved by applying numerical integration. The construction of the quadrature formula has a direct relation with the computation of definite integrals. The theory of definite integrals is used in geometry, physics, mechanics and in other related subjects of science. In this work, the existence and uniqueness of the solution of above-mentioned equations are investigated. By this way, the domain has been defined in which the solution of these problems is equivalent. All proposed four problems can be solved using one and the same methods. Robot networks are susceptible to fail under the presence of malicious or defective robots. Resilient networks in the literature require high connectivity and large communication ranges, leading to high energy consumption in the communication network. This paper presents robot formations with guaranteed resiliency that use smaller communication ranges than previous results in the literature. The formations can be built on triangular and square lattices in the plane, and cubic lattices in the three-dimensional space. We support our theoretical framework with simulations.

In transport of micro- or nanosized particles through a confined structure driven by thermal fluctuations and external forcing—a situation that arises commonly in a variety of fields in physical and biological sciences, efficient and controllable separation of particles of different sizes is an important but challenging problem. We study, numerically and analytically, the diffusion dynamics of Brownian particles through the biologically relevant setting of a spatially periodic structure, subject to static and temporally periodic forcing. Molecular dynamical simulations reveal that the mean velocity in general depends sensitively on the particle size. The phenomenon of current reversal is uncovered, where particles larger than or smaller than a critical size diffuse in exactly opposite directions. This striking behavior occurs in a wide range of the forcing amplitude and provides a mechanism to separate the Brownian particles of different sizes. Besides the forcing amplitude, other parametric quantities characterizing the forcing profile, such as the temporal asymmetry, can also be exploited to modulate or control the transport dynamics of particles of different sizes. To gain a theoretical understanding, we exploit the Fick-Jacobs approximation to obtain a one-dimensional description of the diffusion problem, which enables key quantities characterizing the diffusion process, such as the mean velocity, to be predicted. In the regime of weak forcing, a reasonable agreement between theory and numerical results is achieved. Beyond the weakly forcing regime, the diffusion approximation breaks down, causing the theoretical predictions to deviate from the numerical results, into which we provide physical insights. Our findings have potential applications in optimizing transport in microfluidic devices or through biological channels.

Simultaneously transmitting/refracting and reflecting reconfigurable intelligent surface (STAR-RIS) has been introduced to achieve full coverage area. This paper investigate the performance of STAR-RIS assisted non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) networks over Rician fading channels, where the incidence signals sent by base station are reflected and transmitted to the nearby user and distant user, respectively. To evaluate the performance of STAR-RIS-NOMA networks, we derive new approximate expressions of outage probability and ergodic rate for a pair of users, in which the imperfect successive interference cancellation (ipSIC) and perfect SIC (pSIC) schemes are taken into consideration. Based on the asymptotic expressions, the diversity orders of the nearby user with ipSIC/pSIC and distant user are achieved carefully. The high signal-to-noise ratio slopes of ergodic rates for nearby user with pSIC and distant user are equal to one and zero, respectively. In addition, the system throughput of STAR-RIS-NOMA is discussed in delay-limited and delay-tolerant modes. Simulation results are provided to verify the accuracy of the theoretical analyses and demonstrate that: 1) The outage probability of STAR-RIS-NOMA outperforms that of STAR-RIS assisted orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and conventional cooperative communication systems;2) With the increasing of reflecting elements K and Rician factor κ, the STAR-RIS-NOMA networks are capable of attaining the enhanced performance;and 3) The ergodic rates of STAR-RIS-NOMA are superior to that of STAR-RIS-OMA. Multiple works have applied deep learning to fringe projection profilometry (FPP) in recent years. However, to obtain a large amount of data from actual systems for training is still a tricky problem, and moreover, the network design and optimization still worth exploring. In this paper, we introduce computer graphics to build virtual FPP systems in order to generate the desired datasets conveniently and simply. The way of constructing a virtual FPP system is described in detail firstly, and then some key factors to set the virtual FPP system much close to the reality are analyzed. With the aim of accurately estimating the depth image from only one fringe image, we also design a new loss function to enhance the quality of the overall and detailed information restored. And two representative networks, U-Net and pix2pix, are compared in multiple aspects. The real experiments prove the good accuracy and generalization of the network trained by the data from our virtual systems and the designed loss, implying the potential of our method for applications.
