As of today, blockchain technology is virtually absent from rail transit applications, however, it has promising potential. For cloud-based systems or conventional systems, there is too much information at the centre, resulting in a high level of data processing. However, if the data processing capability can be provided at the edge station or at the edge equipment, it greatly reduces the operation and maintenance pressure, at the same time, if the edge device takes the form of a blockchain, it is possible to increase the safety protection capability. It is important to reduce operating and maintenance risks for metro equipment systems by installing fault diagnosis and health management capabilities. This paper presents a blockchain-based platform for subway applications. The assistance includes design, construction, operation, and maintenance assistance, energy saving assistance, manpower reduction assistance, fire protection linkage assistance at transfer stations, federal learning analysis and artificial intelligence analysis, as well as specific implementation plans for implementing vent valve equipment as examples. © 2023 The Authors. The Stability with Time Delays in Cacc System and Reconstitution Information of Vehiclescompensating Delays Based on Bi-Lstm

The communication delays have an impact on Cooperative Adaptive Cruise control (CACC) of vehicle platoon systems, since thepreceding and following vehicle information is utilized through vehicular Ad Hoc networks. In this paper a three-order vehicleplatoon system using distributed control protocols with communication delays is designed using leading and neighboring vehicleinformation. The sufficient necessary conditions for local stability and string stability are derived based on the Hurwitz stabilitycriterion and the frequency domain method without time delays, in which the thresholds of the controller gains and their relationshipis revealed. For the vehicle platoon systems with time delays, the upper bounds of the time delays satisfying the local stability andstring stability are given based on the method of Laplace transform. Aiming to the communication delays varied, which havegreatly influence on the control performance of vehicle systems, the Bidirectional Long Short Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) model isproposed to predict the acceleration of the leading vehicle to reconstitution for the communication delays, and the algorithm hashigher accuracy and relevance by comparing the acceleration prediction method based on LSTM and the KF method. Based on thesimulation method of compensating communication delay based on Bi-LSTM model, it is obtained that the CACC vehicle systemcan still maintain local stability and string stability under infinite time delay. © 2024, The Authors. The reduction of overall system inertia in modern power systems due to the increasing deployment of distributed energy resources is generally recognized as a major issue for system stability. Consequently, real-time monitoring of system inertia is critical to ensure a reliable and cost-effective system operation. Large-scale power systems are typically managed by multiple transmission system operators, making it difficult to have a central entity with access to global measurement data, which is usually required for estimating the overall system inertia. We address this problem by proposing a fully distributed inertia estimation algorithm with rigorous analytical convergence guarantees. This method requires only peer-to-peer sharing of local parameter estimates between neighboring control areas, eliminating the need for a centralized collection of real-time measurements. We robustify the algorithm in the presence of typical power system disturbances and demonstrate its performance in simulations based on the well-known New England IEEE 39-bus system.

Artificial neural networks (ANN) have been shown to be flexible and effective function estimators for the identification of nonlinear state-space models. However, if the resulting models are used directly for nonlinear model predictive control (NMPC), the resulting nonlinear optimization problem is often overly complex due to the size of the network, requires the use of high-order observers to track the states of the ANN model, and the overall control scheme does not exploit the available autograd tools for these models. In this paper, we propose an efficient approach to auto-convert ANN statespace models to linear parameter-varying (LPV) form and solve predictive control problems by successive solutions of linear model predictive problems, corresponding to quadratic programs (QPs). Furthermore, we show how existing deep-learning methods, such as SUBNET that uses a state encoder, enable efficient implementation of MPCs on identified ANN models. Performance of the proposed approach is demonstrated by a simulation study on an unbalanced disc system.

Peristaltic pumps are used for transporting liquids within disposable tubes, and are commonly found in medical devices. The peristaltic pump principle, however, introduces disturbances, thereby distorting the desired rotational speed of the pump. Proportional plus double integral (PI2) control is commonly used to reject these disturbances, but at the cost of deteriorated transient response and robustness margins. To balance these trade-offs in a more desirable manner, in this paper we propose a hybrid PI2 control strategy that allows for reducing the steady-state error while maintaining robustness margins similar to linear PI2 control. Experiments on a representative setup demonstrate up to 45% improvement in disturbance rejection capabilities.

This study proposes a method for high-performance model predictive control (MPC) by using a lifted bilinear model error model (MEM) based on the Koopman approach to compensate for errors in the prediction model. In MPC, more accurate prediction models can be expected to provide better control performance for the real plant. However, there often exist modeling errors in the prediction model, which may prevent MPC from achieving good performance. In this study, we identify the errors in the nominal model as an MEM, and formulate an MPC that integrates the nominal model and the MEM into an "error-compensated model"as a prediction model. We model the MEM with a lifted bilinear model that can represent nonlinear characteristics based on Koopman's theory. In addition, an efficient linear MPC algorithm is constructed by linearizing the MEM while maintaining high prediction accuracy. Numerical simulations demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2022 IEEE.

When estimating models of a multivariable dynamic system, a typical condition for consistency is to require the input signals to be persistently exciting, which is guaranteed if the input spectrum is positive definite for a sufficient number of frequencies. In this paper it is investigated how such a condition can be relaxed by exploiting prior structural information on the multivariable system, such as structural zero elements in the transfer matrix or entries that are a priori known and therefore not parametrized. It is shown that in particular situations the data-informativity condition can be decomposed into different MISO (multiple input single output) situations, leading to relaxed conditions for the MIMO (multiple input multiple output) model. When estimating a single module in a linear dynamic network, the data-informativity conditions can generically be formulated as path-based conditions on the graph of the network. The new relaxed conditions for data-informativity will then also lead to relaxed path-based conditions on the network graph. Additionally the new expressions are shown to be closely related to earlier derived conditions for (generic) single module identifiability. © 2024, CC BY-NC-ND.

The Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) framework provides a modeling and control design toolchain to address nonlinear (NL) system behavior via linear surrogate models. Despite major research effort on LPV data-driven modeling, a key shortcoming of the current identification theory is that often the scheduling variable is assumed to be a given measured signal in the data set. In case of identifying an LPV model of a NL system, the selection of the scheduling map, which describes the relation to the measurable scheduling signal, is put on the users’ shoulder, with only limited supporting tools available. This choice however greatly affects the usability and complexity of the resulting LPV model. This paper presents a deep-learning-based approach to provide joint estimation of a scheduling map and an LPV state-space model of a NL system from input-output data, and has consistency guarantees under general innovation-type noise conditions. Its efficiency is demonstrated on a realistic identification problem.

The observability property of population balance equations with biomass measurements is addressed within the framework of indistinguishable trajectories. The population balance equation is described by a partial integro-differential equation which is coupled with an ordinary differential equation for the nutrient dynamics. For the semi-discretized model equations, the dynamics of indistinguishable trajectories are derived and evaluated for the special case of equal partitioning at cell division revealing that the observability property is guaranteed as long as the nutrient concentration is not depleted. Based on these results, an observer is designed and tested in simulation to estimate the cell population distribution using biomass measurements in a batch bioreactor for the case of a bi-structured population.

We present a study focusing on the joint optimization of the sizing of hardware components as well as strategic decisions for a race car in a Formula 1 setting. Our research leverages a monotone theory of co-design, which allows for hardware and software considerations to achieve optimal, synergistic performance improvements. We aim to identify the Pareto optimal curves that illustrate the optimal balance between conflicting objectives, such as lap time, energy allocation, and component choice, within the tight constraints imposed by the regulations. The results of the study demonstrate the versatility of our framework by showing optimal component sizing on two structurally different track layouts on a single lap. Moreover, by increasing the amount of laps under consideration, we show the ability of our tool to consider strategic energy allocation decisions.
