Experimental and simulation studies on similitude design method for shock responses of beam-plate coupled structure

The similitude theory helps to understand the physical behaviors of large structures through scaled models. Several papers have studied the similitude of shock issues. However, the dynamic similitude for shock responses of coupled structures is rarely incorporated in open studies. In this paper, scaling laws are derived for the shock responses and spectra of coupled structures. In the presented scaling laws, the geometric distortion and energy loss are considered. The ability of the proposed scaling laws is demonstrated in the simulation and experimental cases. In both cases, the similitude prediction for the prototype's time-domain waveform and spectrum is conducted with the scaled model and scaling laws. The simulation and experimental cases indicate that the predicted shock responses and spectra agree well with those of the prototype, which verifies the proposed scaling laws for predicting shock responses.

The paper proposes a case study on modeling, model validation, model-based temperature control of a building to demonstrate the effectiveness of a modern control technique versus a classical control used in a residential building. Energy efficiency is a key topic today, thus it is important to study the methods of temperature control in buildings to achieve the desired control with minimum energy usage. The paper presents the heat transport modeling using the R-C model technique, the model validation (parameter tuning) based on long-term measurements, classical control and model-based predictive (MPC) distributed temperature control in the rooms of the building and the comparison of the energy consumption for each case. Moreover, there are two MPC algorithms discussed, with and without external temperature forecast as disturbance variable. The simulation results and real-time measurements are presented. © 2023 IEEE.

In the electronic engineering undergraduate program, Peruvian universities offer different theoretical courses of Automatic control that do not present enough practical approach to the algorithms that are studied during the progress of these courses;however, the approach to implementation is very important to achieve good performance in the industry and researching. In this work is presented XSpace, an innovative and friendly platform which consists of a robust hardware that allows the student to take it home;this way, the student is given the opportunity to implement digital control algorithms learned in the theoretical classes. The effectiveness of this platform is shown using a proposed methodology which evidences greater interest, efficiency and efficacy in students at the Automatic control area. This project was implemented in the 'control Systems' course at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP) from 2020 to 2022. Results are presented through a student survey and a history of average grades during the academic periods the platform was employed. © 2023 IEEE.

Due to the complex overall structure of the "vehicle-ground-vehicle" communication method system currently adopted, it relies heavily on trackside equipment and has high cost. Therefore, On the basis of the original train control system, a train control system based on vehicle communication was produced. The system can simplify the system structure, save costs, and realize direct communication between two vehicles in the next door. During normal train operation, the two cars communicate directly through vehicle-to-car communication. If the train communication fails, the communication method between trains will switch to backup mode. In this paper, the new train control system of high-speed railway is modeled by the method of time automata, and the backup mode of the new train control system is verified. © 2023 SPIE.

For micro-newton-scale thrust systems in drag-free satellite, cold gas thrust and field ionization thrust usually require fast and stable flow control. In order to achieve high precision, low noise and fast response thrust control, stable and continuous flow control is the premise. At present, piezoelectric proportional valve composed of piezoelectric actuator and needle valve is widely used in flow control. However, the nonlinear characteristics of piezoelectric proportional valve such as hysteresis and creep are the main factors of internal disturbance in flow control system. Therefore, an active disturbance rejection control algorithm based on the improved Bouc-Wen (B-W) model is proposed in this paper. Firstly, the theoretical model and the phenomenological B-W model are combined to establish the improved B-W model, and then the model is applied to the active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) algorithm with known modeling corrections. Finally, simulation experiments are carried out. The simulation results show that the proposed method can effectively compensate and suppress nonlinear disturbances such as hysteresis and creep of piezoelectric proportional valve, thus improving the accuracy of flow control. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of automation.

This paper deals with the sampled-data semi-global robust practical output voltage tracking problem for single-phase voltage source uninterruptible power supply inverters. We construct an aperiodic sampled-data state feedback control law in an internal model principle framework. Lyapunov analysis shows that as long as the upper bound of the sampling time interval of the controller is less than an explicitly computable threshold, our problem can be handled by the proposed sampled-data control law. And the tracking error is guaranteed to approach a given neighborhood of the origin asympotically. © 2023 Technical Committee on control Theory, Chinese Association of automation.

Sensitivity analysis is a powerful tool that can be utilized for reducing the size of the design space at hand to explore and significantly reduce the computational burden of the optimization process. This is achieved by 'smart' design variable selection. The term 'smart' indicates fixing the un-conflicting design variables that do not require exploration to their maximum or minimum values, depending on their enhancing or degrading effect on the objective functions and allowing the conflicting design variables to be explored within their allowable dynamic range. Intelligent optimization is a critical part of induction motor design process. In this paper, computationally efficient sensitivity analysis is performed to effectively reduce the number of the design variables that will be actively explored in the optimization process of the induction motors. This goal is achieved through the VBR-based TS-FEA together with Design of Experiment and Response Surface Methodology. In addition, the motor estimated losses, including the calculated core losses are fed to a thermal network model to estimate the temperature of different motor components. © 2023 IEEE.

With the development of modern vehicle functions and technologies, surface geometry defects such as dents and cracks generated during the assembly and service of a vehicle not only endanger flight safety and reduce load capacity but also limit its functional characteristics. Accurate detection of surface geometry defects is critical, and these defects must be controlled within a small margin of error. However, conventional methods have difficulty meeting practical requirements in terms of detection accuracy and measurement size. In this paper, based on the analysis of the structural characteristics of the aircraft surface, an aircraft skin defect detection and characterization method is proposed, which processes the defect point cloud data, combines the segmentation algorithm of area growth to detect defects, and analyzes the geometric analysis and characterization through the depth of defects to achieve the accurate measurement of defects, and the experimental results show that the measurement of round holes with different depths of standard parts, the measurement results and the true value of The error are less than 0.05mm;the measurement of the outer surface of the aircraft engine compartment can detect different types of defects such as scratches or dents, and the method in this paper can be extended to the defect detection field of other large industrial equipment. © 2023 IEEE.

Aiming at velocity/height tracking control and attitude stabilization for the longitudinal flight of cruise vehicle, the research of intelligent flight control method is carried out by combining the backstepping control theory and the deep reinforcement learning method. Firstly, the longitudinal flight control system of the vehicle is decomposed into velocity and height subsystems, and the control law is designed based on backstepping control theory. Then, aiming at the problems that the selection of the multiple control gains will directly affect the control performance of the closed-loop system and the adjustment process of control gains is cumbersome, the twin delayed deep deterministic policy gradient algorithm (TD3) will be adopted to train the cruise vehicle, so that it can determine the control gains online according to the current flight states. The numerical simulation results show that, the proposed intelligent flight control method can guarantee the high-precision tracking with respect to height and velocity commands, and also realize the attitude stability of cruise vehicle. © 2023 IEEE.

Aiming at the demand of distributed energy production management system for intelligent operation and maintenance, considering the problems in current log analysis method, we propose an intelligent log analysis technology for distributed energy production management system. This technology applies distributed log framework to achieve the collection, storage, analysis and display of various equipment and service logs in the energy production management system. On the one hand, we use log anomaly detection technology to realize the anomaly detection of single node and the generating of log anomaly alarm, On the other hand, we use rule reasoning technology to realize the analysis and tracing of log anomaly alarm. In addition, we combine with practical application, optimize the traditional rule matching algorithm, which improves the fault tolerance of the matching network, and gets better accuracy and efficiency of the algorithm. © 2023 IEEE.
