The shape of the wavefront is important for the most realistic reproduction of the acoustic wave. In acoustics, the wave front (or wave surface) is defined as the totality of points in the space of the propagating medium that have the same instantaneous elongation amplitude. In the ideal case, in a homogeneous and isotropic propagation medium without other disturbances, the wave has a spherical symmetry, i.e. the shape of the wavefront is circular and at large distances from the wave source, due to dispersion, the shape of the wavefront can be considered plan. In practice, however, due to the multiple component harmonics, reflections and possible summations of the primary acoustic wave, the elongation has a non-sinusoidal shape, and the wavefront may have an irregular random shape. Moreover, if the source of the wave or bodies from which it is reflected are in motion, the shape of the wavefront may even be variable in time. The paper presents a method for determining the shape of the wave front of a non-sinusoidal periodic plane acoustic wave, resulting from the addition of several harmonic components, reflected waves, etc. It uses an array of omnidirectional capacitive microphones arranged in line, at equal distances between them. At each of the microphones, the acoustic wave is captured out of phase depending on the position of the microphone in space and the shape of the wave front. These phase shifts placed next to each other give an image of the shape of the wavefront captured by the microphone system. The method presented in this paper reproduces sounds very realistically and can be used in Active Noise Cancel systems, in open spaces, with one or more mobile noise sources. One of the benefits is the increase in hearing comfort in noisy environments. Another is to record sounds with high fidelity.

Electric power steering systems (EPS) are increasingly prevalent in modern vehicles, and over-the-air (OTA) updates offer a convenient method for improving their performance and functionality in the system lifecycle. OTA capability is important to improve control structure with state-of-the-art artificial intelligent (AI) powered novel control algorithms. AI also helps to improve personalized driving characteristics to the best performance. However, OTA capability introduces new security vulnerabilities that could be exploited by attackers. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of potential attack paths within an OTA-enabled EPS system. Critical components and data flows susceptible to manipulation are identified to manipulation and are explored the potential consequences of successful attacks. Based on this analysis, a security concept is proposed to mitigate these identified risks. Proposed security concepts aim to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the EPS system throughout the OTA update process. This research contributes to the development of secure and reliable OTA updates for electric power steering systems, promoting safety and functionality in modern vehicles with applying ISO 21434 [1] requirements and recommendations.

The article presents methods for calculating the production function based on complex-valued economics. The uniqueness of the work lies in the fact that the production function is presented as a criterion for managing and forecasting heat supply. Data from the boiler plants of the heat supply company in Taldykurgan are used as initial data. As a result of the analysis, it was decided to use the production function of the complex argument, which will increase the number of process indicators and conduct a more complete analysis of the production of thermal energy.

Aiming at the problems of operation economy and stability of power systems with a high proportion of renewable energy, this paper proposes a two-layer optimal scheduling model based on internal trading of the VPP (Virtual power plant) energy layer. Firstly, the users participating in the smart contract and the VPP within the region are regarded as different interest subjects. And the maximum opportunity benefit of users is taken as the internal optimization goal. Secondly, taking the overall benefit maximization of the VPP as the overall optimization objective,. Thus, a two-layer optimal scheduling model including energy storage is established, and the multi-objective particle swarm optimization algorithm was applied to solve the problem. The local consumption of new energy is taken as the criterion, and the price of some local consumption energy is determined by the bidding mechanism of producers and sellers. Finally, the thermal power units are used as auxiliary units. In the two scenarios with or without energy storage, comparative tests are made on the internal trading of the energy layer of VPPs. The optimal scheduling results show that the internal trading of the energy layer of VPP contributes to the local consumption of new energy and improves the overall internal income level of VPP. © 2023 IEEE.

More than one homogenous or heterogenous type unmanned vehicle can work in a coordinated manner and perform large-scale swarm tasks (firefighting, search and rescue, mapping, and military operations, etc.) efficiently in a shorter time by sharing tasks. Collision of these vehicles is among the most significant problems encountered during their work. The crash of the vehicles causes the vehicles to be out of duty and, accordingly, to the mission’s failure. In this study, Quadrotor-type UAVs used as agents can go to any target point by receiving location, speed, and compass information with GPS and IMU sensors. In the application, the agents’ locations were kept and updated in a list in pairs, similar to the traversing process in the Optimized Bubble Sort Algorithm. The projections of the velocity vectors on the agents’ axis (local) on a single coordinate plane are taken to determine the collision situation between these two agents that are traveling instantaneously. These global velocity vectors, whose projections are taken, are re-projected to the edge formed by these two agents in the graph and then subtracted from each other. Suppose the size of the vector is greater than the distance between two agents obtained by any GPS distance algorithm (Pythagoras, Haversine, etc.). In this case, collision is detected, and the separation process is activated. Separation is the process of advancing one agent in the opposite direction of the other until a minimum safe distance is achieved, where one agent entered by the user will not affect the other. Once the separation is complete, the agent moves to the final destination point.

ReFlow6D: Refraction-Guided Transparent Object 6D Pose Estimation via Intermediate Representation Learning

Transparent objects are ubiquitous in daily life, making their perception and robotics manipulation important. However, they present a major challenge due to their distinct refractive and reflective properties when it comes to accurately estimating the 6D pose. To solve this, we present ReFlow6D, a novel method for transparent object 6D pose estimation that harnesses the refractive-intermediate representation. Unlike conventional approaches, our method leverages a feature space impervious to changes in RGB image space and independent of depth information. Drawing inspiration from image matting, we model the deformation of the light path through transparent objects, yielding a unique object-specific intermediate representation guided by light refraction that is independent of the environment in which objects are observed. By integrating these intermediate features into the pose estimation network, we show that ReFlow6D achieves precise 6D pose estimation of transparent objects, using only RGB images as input. Our method further introduces a novel transparent object compositing loss, fostering the generation of superior refractive-intermediate features. Empirical evaluations show that our approach significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods on TOD and Trans32K-6D datasets. Robot grasping experiments further demonstrate that ReFlow6D’s pose estimation accuracy effectively translates to real-world robotics task. ERTMS and ALSN signalling systems are two of the major signalling systems that are under operation in the world. With the introduction of technical specifications for interoperability, ERTMS promises increased passenger and freight attractiveness and seamless cross-border operation. The ERTMS specifications recognise ETCS as a Class A train protection system and other signalling systems in Europe as Class B train protection systems. The specifications further define “Specific Transmission Modules” (STMs) that enable trains with ETCS onboard to operate in railway lines that are equipped with Class B train protection systems. Although ALSN is classified as a Class B train protection system, ALSN STM is not defined yet. This paper focuses on proposing a novel ALSN STM that enables trains with ETCS onboard to operate in the countries where ALSN trackside is operational. The proposed STM unit is conceptualised as a system architecture, and a new standardised interface is introduced to enable signalling interoperability between ERTMS and ALSN.

In this paper, the extended Q-learning method is used to study the H∞ output tracking control problem of networked control systems with state delay and data loss. Compared with the existing results, the network control system in this paper contains both network delays and packet loss, as well as external disturbances. To deal with the disturbances, the H∞ control problem is transformed into the maximum and minimum value problem, which is solved by the method of zero-sum game. The packet loss and delay of the state make it difficult to obtain accurate current state information. Therefore, it is necessary to design a new smith predictor that contains delay and packet loss to predict the current state. Using the predicted state, the extended Q-learning algorithm is implemented to solve the H∞ output tracking problem with unknown dynamics of the system. Then, the convergence of the extended Q-learning algorithm is proved. Moreover, the stability and optimality of the proposed method areanalyzed in the theorems. Finally, numerical simulation is performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper presents the design of supervisory model predictive control for HVAC systems and two zones. The supervisory control (SC) is designed to find the optimal reference temperature of each zone. The design criteria consist of the total operating cost (TOC) and the thermal comfort cost (TCC). Then, the model predictive control (MPC) is designed to track the optimal reference signals. When SC and MPC are designed for two zones simultaneously, they are referred to centralized SC and centralized MPC. On the other hand, when SC and MPC are designed for two zones separately, they referred to decentralized SC and decentralized MPC. We then compare the results between the decentralized control and the centralized control. The trade-off curve shows that the performance of centralized control is better than that of decentralized control. In particular, centralized MPC improves the performance in tracking reference signals. Furthermore, TOC of centralized control is lower than that of decentralized control. It can be concluded that the centralized control is appropriate for two zones in terms of the tracking of reference and the electrical charge.

We investigate the problem of optimal control synthesis for Markov Decision Processes (MDPs), addressing both qualitative and quantitative objectives. Specifically, we require the system to fulfill a qualitative surveillance task in the sense that a specific region of interest can be visited infinitely often with probability one. Furthermore, to quantify the performance of the system, we consider the concept of efficiency, which is defined as the ratio between rewards and costs. This measure is more general than the standard long-run average reward metric as it aims to maximize the reward obtained per unit cost. Our objective is to synthesize a control policy that ensures the surveillance task while maximizes the efficiency. We provide an effective approach to synthesize a stationary control policy achieving $\epsilon$-optimality by integrating state classifications of MDPs and perturbation analysis in a novel manner. Our results generalize existing works on efficiency-optimal control synthesis for MDP by incorporating qualitative surveillance tasks.
