Designing a robust controller for systems with parameter uncertainties is a complex and demanding task. Traditional deterministic and probabilistic approaches may fall short in providing efficient and satisfactory solutions. To address this challenge, we propose a semi-heuristic approach that exploits the Kharitonov theorem to establish an initial point for the gradient descent algorithm. Through an iterative optimization process that incorporates user-defined performance criteria, our approach provide a robust controller with respect to presence of system uncertainties. Numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of our proposed method and highlight its superiority in addressing robust control problems compared with auto-tuned ΡΠ) controller.

To give the potential regulation capacity of the thermal power generator for renewable energy integration by peak regulation, this paper has investigated in developing a comprehensive model for day-ahead unit commitment, taking into account deep peak regulation. Specifically, the investigation entails dividing the peak regulation into distinct modes and establishing corresponding operational cost functions. Subsequently, a mixed-integer linear programming model is presented for power scheduling, leveraging the defined cost function. To validate the effectiveness of the proposed model and highlight the superiority of deep peak regulation in accommodating renewable energy sources, a modified IEEE-118 case has been conducted. © 2023 IEEE.

Currently, control strategies for distributed photovoltaic (PV) power generation are relatively single and rigid, and cannot flexibly adapt to the diverse demands of power grids in different scenarios. Firstly, this paper analyzes the adaptive relationship between different dispatching demands, the regulation ability of distributed PV, and the characteristics of the local voltage. Secondly, for different scenarios, the coordinated controller determines the reference values of active power and reactive power given to the inverter. Thus, distributed PV power control modes which can adapt to different scenarios have been established. Then, these control modes can be classified into single control modes and compound control modes according to the complexity of scenario demands. On this basis, a specific two-layer adaptive control strategy and process of distributed PV power generation in a low-voltage distribution network are further proposed, which takes into account both external demands of the distribution network and the regulation ability of distributed PV. Finally, a case study is given to verify the rationality and effectiveness of the two-layer adaptive scenarios control strategy. This strategy can effectively improve the comprehensive support ability of distributed PV power generation towards the power grid in multiple scenarios, and improve the stable operation level of the regional power grid. © 2023 IEEE.

In previous studies, most work focused on generating high-quality reports by smoothing the alignment between cross-modal mappings. However, a common problem with current radiology report generation methods is that they ignore the interactions and connections between various medical findings that are critical to medical discovery. To overcome this problem, we propose a knowledge-driven cross-modal memory network. The network is built by data mining clinical reports and constructing knowledge graphs and their corresponding adjacency matrices based on the mined a prior knowledge. Combining information after graphical interaction through a cross-modal memory network with a knowledge graph adjacency matrix. Finally the Transformer generates a full report. Experiments have demonstrated that reports generated from cross-modal memory network models that incorporate prior knowledge are more clinically informative. © 2023 IEEE.

The application of unmanned vehicles in industrial cargo transportation is becoming increasingly widespread, particularly playing a significant role in transporting heavy-duty goods. However, when performing such tasks, whether in single-vehicle transportation or multi-vehicle collaborative transportation, the occurrence of wheel failures can potentially lead to serious safety accidents. Therefore, this paper proposes a fault-tolerant control scheme, establishing a kinematic model considering disturbances and failures, and adopts model predictive control for trajectory tracking. Additionally, an extended state observer is introduced to observe system states and counteract disturbances. To address potential failure issues, a controller reconstruction strategy is proposed. Finally, the effectiveness and superiority of the controller is validated through numerical simulation and comparative experiment. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, a deep residual network based on convolutional block attention module (CBAM) is proposed, which is utilized for feature extraction of partially occluded face expression data. The proposed method overcomes the problem of localized occlusion face feature extraction by focusing on the regions and channels containing important information in the occluded face data through CBAM. Multi-task cascaded convolutional networks (MTCNN) are firstly utilized to localize the key regions of face emotion, and then deep emotion features are extracted by CBAM-ResNet network. The final emotion labels are generated. The effectiveness of this paper's method is verified on the RAF-DB dataset and the occluded CK+ dataset. The experimental accuracy in the RAF-DB dataset is 76.3%, which is 3.74% and 1.64% higher than the accuracy produced by the method of RGBT, and the WLS-RF, respectively. Application experiments are carried out in the real teaching scenario, which verifies the applicability of the algorithm in the real teaching scene. © 2023 IEEE.

Our study is to improve the accuracy of bone morphology depicted in dental cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images. First, successive statistical iterative reconstruction was used to reduce unavoidable streak artefacts. Then 3-dimentional filtering (Gaussian-Laplacian filter) and region growing methods were examined to present clear bone morphology. CBCT examinations were performed with the following principal exposure parameters: I-mode, FOV 10cm in diameter, 120 kV, 15 mA, 0.2 mm slice thickness, and exposure time of 10s. Ordered subset-expectation maximization (OS-EM) algorithm was applied for unavoidable streak artefact reduction. 3D Laplacian sharpening to images preprocessed by Gaussian smoothing was sequentially tested. Region growing method with dilation and erosion was used to segment maxillofacial tissue. Streak artefact induced by metallic prosthetic appliances was reduced by applying successive iterative OS-EM algorithm. Multi-planar reconstruction (MPR) images at left side molar plane and mid-sagittal plane were presented to validate effect of OS-EM algorithm and 3D Gaussian-Laplacian filter. Maxillofacial tissue was segmented and presented to show the effect of region growing method. Streak artefact reducing method, 3D filtering method for image smoothing and sharpening, and region growing method with dilation and erosion were effective to improve accuracy of bone morphology in dental CBCT images. © 2022 ACM.

Automatic Nonlinear MPC Approximation with Closed-loop Guarantees

Safety guarantees are vital in many control applications, such as robotics. Model predictive control (MPC) provides a constructive framework for controlling safety-critical systems but is limited by its computational complexity. We address this problem by presenting a novel algorithm that automatically computes an explicit approximation to nonlinear MPC schemes while retaining closed-loop guarantees. Specifically, the problem can be reduced to a function approximation problem, which we then tackle by proposing Alkia-x, the Adaptive and Localized Kernel Interpolation Algorithm with eXtrapolated reproducing kernel Hilbert space norm. Alkia-x is a non-iterative algorithm that ensures well-conditioned computations, a fast-to-evaluate approximating function, and the guaranteed satisfaction of any desired bound on the approximation error. Hence, Alkia-x automatically computes an explicit function that approximates the MPC, yielding a controller suitable for safety-critical systems and high sampling rates. We apply Alkia-x to approximate two nonlinear MPC schemes, demonstrating reduced computational demand and applicability to realistic problems. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Obtaining an accurate mathematical model is critical in control design applications. Therefore, the parameter uncertainties that occur during modeling or operation should be identified, and the controller design should be made to compensate for these uncertainties. In this paper, a system identification study was performed with a global-based Big Bang-Big Crunch optimization algorithm using input and output data from the one degree of freedom helicopter system. System dynamics are determined using this optimization algorithm over the flowing data, and the transfer function that best represents the system's behavior is obtained. A discrete time Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller is designed to minimize the overshoot and steady-state error of the system response with the same optimization algorithm. This process was used to automatically detect parametric uncertainties as long as the system receives input-output data, and to create a tuned PID controller structure. In order to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed methodology, initial PID is designed for the real-time system, and the performance of this PID and the tuned PID controller is compared under the parameter uncertainty. As a result, it is ensured that the tuned PID structure has the desired transient response dynamics of the system under parameter uncertainty compared to the initial PID structure.

The most complex step in sheet metal production is the bending process, and the planning of a bending sequence directly impacts the feasibility of sheet metal processing. This paper proposes a set of principles to be followed for the planning of bending sequences. It first uses the rule "the more bending lines, the better" to select an appropriate datum plane out of all the possible bending planes of a 3D sheet metal. Based on the selected datum plane, the rule "the smaller angle between bending lines, the better" is applied to divide the sheet metal into a number of bend segments. In the second step, six bending patterns are defined based on the geometric characteristics of various bending operations. Each of the bend segments determined in the first step is then compared with the six bending patterns to obtain a bending sequence for each bend segment. Lastly, the order of the bend segments is arranged by following the principle "minimum-height, first-processed" to obtain the final bending sequence for the entire sheet metal. © 2021, Chinese Mechanical engineering Society.
