In this work, we propose a novel parameter identifier for linear time-invariant systems, which has the fastest possible convergence in principal (i.e., dead-beat). The identifier applies where states and derivatives of states can be measured. The identifier is applied to the certainty-equivalence (indirect) model reference adaptive control that relaxes the conventional assumptions about open-loop stability and persistent excitation in MRAC. Furthermore, in conventional MRAC the parameter convergence rate is proportional to the tracking error, whereas our proposed adaptation law has dead-beat dynamics. This method is previously applied to a Delta robot. In this paper, we present a theoretical analysis of the method by solving the identifier dynamics to get its closed-form solution and examine the effect of perturbations such as white additive noise, uncertainty, and disturbance. The linearized model of an actuated inverted pendulum with unknown parameters is used as a benchmark example.

Cyber security always forms a significant aspect of ICT infrastructure, with threats on supply-chain networks gaining greater attention nowadays. The secure autonomous driving domain presents a unique set of challenges for supply-chain security. Autonomous vehicles rely on a complex ecosystem of hardware and software components, many of which are sourced from third-party suppliers. Ensuring the security and reliability of this supply-chain is essential to maintain the safety and viability of autonomous driving as a technology. To address these challenges, a continuous security assurance approach is necessary. This involves ongoing monitoring, assessment, and improvement of security measures to detect and mitigate potential vulnerabilities in the supply chain. Key measures may include regular vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security awareness training for employees and contractors, as well as the implementation of security controls such as secure communication protocols, access controls, and intrusion detection systems. By adopting a continuous security assurance approach for supply chain security in the secure autonomous driving domain, organizations can safeguard their operations and ensure the safety of passengers and other road users. This paper presents a security assurance and certification solution for supply-chain services. Security elements are continuously assessed based on AI operations. The proposal is implemented under the EU funded project FISHY and applied in the supply-chain of secure autonomous driving (SADE) pilot with REMOTIS smart vehicles. Nevertheless, it is a generic solution that can be applied in any domain.

Automatic defect detection has important implications to intelligent manufacturing which could be used for the precise quality control of different products. However, the diverse aluminium profile surface defects present the characteristics of micro defects and different sizes. Conventional handcrafted-based methods and machine learning-based methods have limited feature expression ability which cause relatively poor detection performance. Recently, with the stronger feature extraction ability, deep learning has got wide applications on defect detection and recognition. Due to the loss information caused by pooling operations, it still exists a certain drawbacks on multi-scale object detection. To address this issue, with the residual neural network (ResNet), a new deep defect recognition network is proposed in this paper for aluminium profile surface defects to construct an end-to-end defect detection scheme. An attention fusion model is proposed to improve the detection precision on multi-scale defects. Experiments show that the proposed defect detection method shows a better detection performance compared with other advanced detection models.

Flaviviruses,such as dengue virus(DENV),Zika virus(ZIKV),and Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV),represent a substantial public health challenge as there are currently no approved treatments ***,we investigated the antiviral effects of bis-benzylisoquinoline alkaloids(BBAs)on flavivirus *** evaluated five specific BBAs—berbamine,tetrandrine,iso-tetrandrine,fangchinoline,and cepharanthine—and found that they effectively inhibited infections by ZIKV,DENV,or JEV by blocking virus entry and genome replication stages in the flavivirus life ***,we synthesized a fluorophore-conjugated BBA and showed that BBAs targeted endolysosomes,causing lysosomal pH *** studies on inhibiting ZIKV infection by BBAs revealed that these compounds blocked TRPML channels,leading to lysosomal dysfunction and reducing the expression of NCAM1,a key receptor for the entry of ZIKV into cells,thereby decreasing cells susceptibility to ZIKV ***,BBAs inhibited the fusion of autophagosomes and lysosomes,significantly reducing viral RNA ***,our results suggest that BBAs inhibit flavivirus entry and replication by compromising endolysosomal trafficking and autophagy,respectively,underscoring the potential of BBAs as therapeutic agents against flavivirus infections.

Fuzzy utility mining considers high-utility fuzzy itemsets as valuable knowledge by integrating quantities of items, their profits, and meaningful fuzzy terms derived by quantities according to membership functions. In fuzzy utility mining, the utility value of a fuzzy itemset in a transaction will always be greater than or equal to those of its subsets, so the measurement of fuzzy utility is an unfair evaluation method. Therefore, the fuzzy average-utility mining problem was issued in 2020, and three solutions were proposed to solve fuzzy average-utility itemsets as two-phase fuzzy average-utility algorithm (TPFAU), two-phase method with tree-based structure (HFAUIM) and one-phase approach with tree-based structure (FHFAUIM), respectively. The second and third methods decrease the candidates generated compared to the first. However, the sorting strategy for mining steps for the last two approaches is based on the frequencies of items in a database and then inserting items of a transaction into a tree in descending order of their frequencies, thus spending more computing time on deriving the actual fuzzy utility value of itemsets. To overcome the above-mentioned problem, this paper adopts a different sorting strategy with a tree-based structure and then by using it to design an algorithm named IFHFAUIM to mine high fuzzy average-utility itemsets. It reduces the storage of required fuzzy utility values in tree nodes and recovers them through tree traversal. Computational experiments show that the proposed method could make a good trade-off between execution time and memory usage.

microRNAs play an important role in post-transcriptional gene regulation. Recently, viral microRNAs have been discovered in several viruses, including Hepatitis B virus. This brief work explores bioinformatics tools for viral/host miRNA research and provides insights into the roles of miRNAs in HBV infection, offering an overview of this field, in order to facilitate the selection of the most suitable bioinformatics tools according to individual needs and research goals.

In order to explore the mystery of momentum in the competition, so that the athletes can better maintain good momentum and win the competition, we established two models: the momentum model based on entropy weight TOPSIS method, and the performance prediction model based on BP neural network. On the basis of data preprocessing, we identified ten indicators affecting momentum, evaluated them with the TOPSIS method, and determined the target weights with the entropy weighting method, and established the momentum model to determine the performance of a player at a specific time. A BP neural network-based performance prediction model is built to analyze whether the success of the game showed a certain pattern or trend. By introducing all the data in the training set into the BP neural network, allowing it to train and learn, and then predicting the data in the test set, we validated the high accuracy of the model’s predictions. © 2024 SPIE.

Trust evaluation and trust establishment play crucial roles in the management of trust within a multi-agent system. When it comes to collaboration systems, trust becomes directly linked to the specific roles performed by agents. The Role-Based Collaboration (RBC) methodology serves as a framework for assigning roles that facilitate agent collaboration. Within this context, the behavior of an agent with respect to a role is referred to as a process role. This research paper introduces a role engine that incorporates a trust establishment algorithm aimed at identifying optimal and reliable process roles. In our study, we define trust as a continuous value ranging from 0 to 1. To optimize trustworthy process roles, we have developed a consensus-based Gaussian Process Factor Graph (GPFG) tool. Our simulations and experiments validate the feasibility and efficiency of our proposed approach with autonomous robots in unsignalized intersections and narrow hallways.
