This paper considers the problem of approximating the infinite-horizon value function of the discrete-time switched LQR problem. In particular, we propose a new value iteration method to generate a sequence of monotonically decreasing functions that converges exponentially to the value function. This method facilitates us to use coarse approximations resulting from faster but less accurate algorithms for further value iteration, and thus, our method is capable of achieving a better approximation for a given computation time compared with the existing methods. Two numerical examples are presented in this paper to illustrate the effectiveness of our method.

In this work, an attempt is made for the first time to use the measurement pattern generated by morphological transformation quantified by Hausdorff fractal dimension (HFD) and classified with ensemble learning based on bagging. The proposed work uses three morphological transformations for image preprocessing: hit-and-miss transform (HMT), white (WHT), and black top-hat (BHT). The pattern texture of US breast images is described by extracting the HFD from the regions of interest (ROI) after the ultrasound (US) images have been preprocessed. The main objective of this study was achieved by comparatively analyzing the classification performance of features using the Random Forest (RF), Extra Trees (ET) classifier, and bagging ensemble method based on XGBoot classifier. In presented study, the XGBoost classifier and BHT image processing method give an accuracy of 89.8% in a binary classification, benign versus malignant breast cancer.

Digital transformation requires new innovative approaches in the design of data exchange and file storage systems. The analysis of the architecture of well-known IT projects and approaches showed that each of them cannot solve one of three problems at the same time: automatic scaling, the absence of a single point of failure, and minimizing the required storage space for files and their backups. The presented architecture of DecStore, a blockchain-based peer-to-peer file storage system, solves these problems simultaneously. It reduces the total amount of disk space required by 25% through the use of erasure coding. Automatic horizontal scaling and the absence of a single point of failure are provided by a load balancer based on algorithms implemented inside the Hyperledger chaincode. DecStore can become a subsystem for secure data exchange for government-to-business and business-to-business systems for state supervision in various areas, including financial and insurance audits.

Inspired by human proteins that are synthesized from only 20 types of amino acids, the development of self-assembly methods that allow robots to be built simply by randomly stirring the parts has been explored for many years. The key challenges include how to synthesize parts in pieces into a three-dimensional functional structure in a practical time, and subsequently, achieve a controlled robotic motion, all with minimal human intervention. This study proposes a method of self-assembling a 3D robot by first self-assembling random parts into a 2D structure and then self-folding it into a 3D shape. Once self-folded, the robot, whose compositional parts contain magnets, becomes capable of performing basic tasks such as block-pushing upon an application of an external magnetic field. Self-assembly from parts into a two-dimensional structure was performed by repeatedly colliding the parts with each other, and combining them with complementary-shaped parts, like matching jigsaw puzzle pieces. Self-folding was performed by shrinking a heat-responsive film attached across the hinge of each assembly part in hot water, causing the entire 2D structure to self-fold. The experiment demonstrated a series of 13 parts self-assembling into the shape of a 3D beetle, then walking and pushing an object in 13 minutes. The self-assembly process is programmed (mechanically) to generate the same geometry even if the number of parts is greater than the necessary number for the structure, thus is capable of generating multiple structures simultaneously.
