Performance analysis of UAV-based mixed underwater PLC-RF systems

In this study,we analyzed the performance of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle(UAV)-based mixed Underwater Power Line Communication-Radio Frequency(UPLC-RF)*** this network,a buoy located at the sea is used as a relay to transmit signals from the underwater signal source to the UAV through the PLC *** assume that the UPLC channel obeys a log-normal distribution and that the RF link follows the Rician *** this model,we obtained the closed-form expressions for the Outage Probability(OP),Average Bit-error-rate(ABER),and Average Channel Capacity(ACC).In addition,the asymptotic analysis of the OP and ABER was performed,and an upper bound for the average capacity was ***,the analytical results were verified by Monte Carlo simulation thereby demonstrating the effect of impulse noise and the altitude of the UAV on network performance.

The accuracy of kernel estimation is critical to the performance of blind super-resolution (SR). Traditional kernel estimation methods usually use L1 or L2 loss function to minimize the difference between the estimated kernel and the ground-truth kernel. This tends to make the estimated kernel converge towards the average of all possible kernels, deviating from the ground-truth kernel. To improve the performance of kernel estimation, this paper proposes an uncertainty loss for training a kernel estimation network, focusing on regions with high uncertainty (variance) in the kernel. In addition, a texture-aware SR network is proposed that utilizes the Gumbel Softmax trick to pay more attention to the complex regions of the image texture, thus improving the SR performance. Extensive experiments on synthetic datasets show that our approach achieves promising performance. © 2023 IEEE.

While large models have achieved significant progress in computer vision, challenges such as optimization complexity, the intricacy of transformer architectures, computational constraints, and practical application demands highlight the importance of simpler model designs in medical image segmentation. This need is particularly pronounced in mobile medical devices, which require lightweight, deployable models with real-time performance. However, existing lightweight models often suffer from poor robustness across datasets, limiting their widespread adoption. To address these challenges, this paper introduces LV-UNet, a lightweight and vanilla model that leverages pre-trained MobileNetv3-Large backbones and incorporates fusible modules. LV-UNet employs an enhanced deep training strategy and switches to a deployment mode during inference by re-parametrization, significantly reducing parameter count and computational overhead. Experimental results on ISIC 2016, BUSI, CVC-ClinicDB, CVC-ColonDB, and Kvair-SEG datasets demonstrate a better trade-off between performance and the computational load. A common strategy for Parameter-Efficient Fine-Tuning (PEFT) of pre-trained Vision Transformers (ViTs) involves adapting the model to downstream tasks by learning a low-rank adaptation matrix. This matrix is decomposed into a product of down-projection and up-projection matrices, with the bottleneck dimensionality being crucial for reducing the number of learnable parameters, as exemplified by prevalent methods like LoRA and Adapter. However, these low-rank strategies typically employ a fixed bottleneck dimensionality, which limits their flexibility in handling layer-wise variations. To address this limitation, we propose a novel PEFT approach inspired by Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) for representing the adaptation matrix. SVD decomposes a matrix into the product of a left unitary matrix, a diagonal matrix of scaling values, and a right unitary matrix. We utilize Householder transformations to construct orthogonal matrices that efficiently mimic the unitary matrices, requiring only a vector. The diagonal values are learned in a layer-wise manner, allowing them to flexibly capture the unique properties of each layer. This approach enables the generation of adaptation matrices with varying ranks across different layers, providing greater flexibility in adapting pre-trained models. Experiments on standard downstream vision tasks demonstrate that our method achieves promising fine-tuning performance. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. All rights reserved.

This paper presents the application of Fractional Order Sliding Mode control (FO-SMC) in order to achieve a robust motion trajectory regulation in dynamic robot systems. The proposed control strategy benefits of both advantages of fractional calculus and sliding mode control to upgrade the robustness and the performances of the controller. Moreover, the paper proposes to use a fuzzy tuning of sliding mode controller in order to satisfy the capabilities of the actuators. The stability of the closed loop system has been demonstrated using the Lyapunov theory. Simulation results demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method achieving precise trajectory tracking and robust performances, it has been shown that fuzzy tuning of the sliding function parameters significantly reduces control variable peaks, making the control more suitable for actuator application. © 2024 IEEE.

Artificial intelligence systems are usually implemented either using machine learning or expert systems. Machine learning methods are usually more accurate and applicable to a broader range of applications. Expert systems, on the other hand, require much less data for training and generate more comprehensible results. These characteristics are typically desired in the fields of surgery and medicine because there isn't much data available. In order to give a machine's decisions a deeper level of semantics, it is also advantageous to incorporate a doctor's expertise into it. Furthermore, it is safer to understand the reasoning behind a machine's choices. In this paper, a Dempster-Shafer Theory (DST) based expert system is suggested for the task of surgical training skill assessment. An interval-based probabilistic feature analysis was applied to the data to assign values to the mass functions. Zhang's rule of combination was applied to handle the conflicting evidence in the prediction phase. The performance of the proposed method was compared to another DST classifier, SVM, and XGBoost. Our method outperforms SVM and other DST classifiers, but it is not as precise as XGBoost. By reducing the size of the dataset, the added benefit of using an expert system as opposed to a machine learning method was explored further. The performance of the suggested method is not adversely affected by the size of the dataset, whereas the XGBoost classifier is. © 2023 IEEE.

Neighborhood Combination Search for Single-Machine Scheduling with Sequence-Dependent Setup Time

In a local search algorithm,one of its most important features is the definition of its neighborhood which is crucial to the algorithm's *** this paper,we present an analysis of neighborhood combination search for solv-ing the single-machine scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup time with the objective of minimizing total weighted tardiness(SMSWT).First,We propose a new neighborhood structure named Block Swap(B1)which can be con-sidered as an extension of the previously widely used Block Move(B2)neighborhood,and a fast incremental evaluation technique to enhance its evaluation ***,based on the Block Swap and Block Move neighborhoods,we present two kinds of neighborhood structures:neighborhood union(denoted by B1UB2)and token-ring search(denoted by B1→B2),both of which are combinations of B1 and ***,we incorporate the neighborhood union and token-ring search into two representative metaheuristic algorithms:the Iterated Local Search Algorithm(ILSnew)and the Hybrid Evolutionary Algorithm(HEA_(new))to investigate the performance of the neighborhood union and token-ring ***-sive experiments show the competitiveness of the token-ring search combination mechanism of the two *** on the 120 public benchmark instances,our HEA_(new)has a highly competitive performance in solution quality and computational time compared with both the exact algorithms and recent *** have also tested the HEA,new algorithm with the selected neighborhood combination search to deal with the 64 public benchmark instances of the single-machine scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup *** is able to match the optimal or the best known results for all the 64 *** particular,the computational time for reaching the best well-known results for five chal-lenging instances is reduced by at least 61.25%.

Multi-axis collaborative manipulators encounter challenges such as slow planning speed, low efficiency, and poor path quality while conducting grasping operations. This paper proposes the Dynamic Space Constraints RRTC motion planning algorithm that considers the grasping pose in the deep-container picking problem and introduces a novel method to optimize the collision-free grasping pose in compliance with environmental constraints. The paper also proposes a prior graph path generation algorithm based on the end-effector's sphere space constraint that compresses the body's search space to improve efficiency. Avoiding complicated non-convex constraint modeling required for obstacle avoidance can be achieved by modeling nonconvex sets with an obstacle-free state as the union of a finite number of convex regions. Based on the prior path, the algorithm generates a dynamic constraint manifold and uses a bidirectional search tree that employs a sliding constraint manifold for traction. The algorithm includes an adaptive step length mechanism dynamically based on the obstacle distance for higher efficiency and accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate that the Dynamic Space Constraints RRTC algorithm plans an optimized path that satisfies the constraint condition compared to traditional algorithms in terms of computation time and efficiency. © 2023 IEEE.

In this paper, the attack detection problem is investigated for a class of closed-loop systems subjected to unknownbutbounded noises in the presence of stealthy attacks. The measurement outputs from the sensors are quantized before transmission.A specific type of perfect stealthy attack, which meets certain rather stringent conditions, is taken into account. Such attacks could be injected by adversaries into both the sensor-toestimator and controller-to-actuator channels, with the aim of disrupting the normal data flow. For the purpose of defending against these perfect stealthy attacks, a novel scheme based on watermarks is developed. This scheme includes the injection of watermarks(applied to data prior to quantization) and the recovery of data(implemented before the data reaches the estimator).The watermark-based scheme is designed to be both timevarying and hidden from adversaries through incorporating a time-varying and bounded watermark signal. Subsequently, a watermark-based attack detection strategy is proposed which thoroughly considers the characteristics of perfect stealthy attacks,thereby ensuring that an alarm is activated upon the occurrence of such attacks. An example is provided to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed mechanism for detecting attacks.

Cardiovascular diseases are a major global health challenge, with electrocardiography (ECG) being critical for diagnosis and monitoring. As artificial intelligence and automated ECG diagnostic technologies rapidly advance, the demand for large-scale ECG databases continues to grow. Generative ECG has become a mainstream method to enhance database size and diversity. However, existing methods typically generate ECG randomly or focus on limited physiological categories, lacking the ability to synthesize ECG with varying physiological features and cardiac cycles, which is crucial for various practical applications. In response to this need, we propose a novel approach introducing a diffusion model called DIFF-ECG to generate precisely customized ECG that accurately reflect diverse cardiac conditions. Segmentation-based quality assessments confirmed that the synthesized ECG accurately followed the specified cardiac cycle information, with our model significantly outperforming baseline diffusion and GAN-based methods. Therefore, our approach addresses the critical need for generating clinically relevant and customizable ECG, contributing significantly to the field of automated cardiac disease diagnosis. By enabling fine-tuning of cardiac cycle phases, our method significantly expands the application range of generative ECG, potentially improving the diagnostic accuracy for rare diseases and advancing personalized medicine. © 2024 IEEE.
