Neuroimaging plays an significant role in diagnosing and pathological study of brain diseases. Considering that both functional and structural abnormalities may lead to brain dis-eases and disorders, single modal neuroimaging approach may not fully characterize brain activities and working modes. Fusion of multimodal neuroimaging data is expected to provide more comprehensive characterization of brain diseases, given that the different modalities contain more complementary information. Recently, Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) is shown to have powerful capacity in representation learning for graph-structure data, which is considered to integrate both graph se-mantic structure and node information. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the Weighted Graph AutoEncoder (WGAE), a GCN- driven multimodal fusion model, to learn the combinational latent node representation of fMRI and DTI neuroimaging data, which are used as node features and graph structure respectively in the graph in unsupervised manner. Experimental results on two real-world datasets show the superiority of the proposed model over other existing single-modal or multi-modal methods in learning representations for disease prediction as the downstream task. Furthermore, ablation experiments also show the collaborative contribution of multimodal neuroimaging fusion in the proposed model, and also show the feasibility of assessing the respective importance of the two modalities during the disease prediction. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper highlights the benefits of using series elastic actuators (SEA) in designing a cost-efficient, easily controlled, and functional prosthetic hand. The designed 3D-printed hand uses only two motors in an antagonistic configuration, transferring power to the fingers via pulleys, cables, and springs; i.e., the motors are in an SEA configuration with the load/fingers. In the designed underactuated prosthetic hand, the thumb is adjustable for various tasks, and the optimization of pulley diameters ensures synchronized finger movement during hand flexion and extension. Thanks to the SEA configuration of the motors and fingers, simple position control of the motor enables features like hand position control, morphological grasp, force control, impedance control, slippage detection, safe interaction, and efficient grasp. An extensive set of experiments has been conducted to evaluate the designed prosthetic hand’s performance. The experiments confirm the hand’s satisfactory performance while also highlighting the importance of improving the proposed design in different aspects. To attain better position control and morphological grasp, minimizing the cable-body and joint friction is recommended. A higher resolution of the current/torque sensor is needed for the precise force control and slippage detection. Finally, a motor brake system is required to achieve efficient grasping.

Acoustic-based human gesture recognition (HGR) offers diverse applications due to the ubiquity of sensors and touch-free interaction. However, existing machine learning approaches require substantial training data, making the process time-consuming, costly, and labor-intensive. Recent studies have explored cross-modal methods to reduce the need for large training datasets in behavior recognition, but they typically rely on open-source datasets that closely align with the target domain, limiting flexibility and complicating data collection. In this paper, we propose ${\sf Img2Acoustic}$ , a novel cross-modal acoustic-based HGR approach that leverages models trained on open-source image datasets (i.e., EMNIST, Omniglot) to effectively recognize custom gestures detected via acoustic signals. Our model incorporates a task-aware attention layer (TAAL) and a task-aware local matching layer (TALML), enabling seamless transfer of knowledge from image datasets to acoustic gesture recognition. We implement ${\sf Img2Acoustic}$ on commercial devices and conduct comprehensive evaluations, demonstrating that our method not only delivers superior accuracy and robustness compared to existing approaches but also eliminates the need for extensive training data collection.

controller Area Network (CAN) protocol is an efficient standard enabling communication among Electronic control Units (ECUs). However, the CAN bus is vulnerable to malicious attacks because of a lack of defense features. In this article, a novel vehicle Intrusion Detection System (IDS) is developed. The challenge is that existing techniques of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) rarely consider attacks with small-batch, which are characterized by their small attack scale and concealed attack patterns, posing a significant threat to driving safety. To solve this problem, we developed an algorithm model that merges Multi-dimensional Long Short-Term Memory (MD-LSTM) and Self-Attention Mechanism (SAM), shortly named MULSAM. The MULSAM model was compared with other baseline models, including Stacked LSTM, MD-LSTM, etc. Experiments show that our approach has the best detection accuracy (98.98%) and training stability. Further, to speed up the inference of MULSAM on edge, the hardware accelerator is implemented on FPGA devices using technologies such as parallelization, modular, pipeline, and fixed-point quantization. Experiments show that our FPGA-based acceleration scheme has a better energy efficiency than the CPU platform. Even with a certain degree of quantification, the acceleration model for MULSAM still displays a high detection accuracy of 98.81% and a low latency of 1.88 ms. © 1982-2012 IEEE.

The vibrations generated by rock blasting are a serious and hazardous outcome of these activities,causing harmful effects on the surrounding environment as well as the nearby *** the local ecology and human communities suffer from the consequences of these *** the severity of blasting vibrations necessitates a thorough evaluation of Peak Particle Velocity(PPV)and frequency,which are essential parameters for measuring vibration *** prediction of vibration occurrence is critically ***,this study employs five machine learning models for predicting the PPV and frequency resulting from quarry *** work compares five machine learning models(XGBoost,Catboost,Bagging,Gradient Boosting,and Random Forest Regression)to choose the most efficient performance *** performance evaluation of each five machine learning models demonstrates each model achieved a performance of more than 0.90 during the testing phase,there was a strong correlation observed between the actual and the predicted *** analysis of performance metrics shows Catboost regression model demonstrate better performance prediction comparing with the other models with R^(2)=0.983,MSE=0.000078,RMSE=0.008,NRMSE=0.019,MAD=0.004,MAPE=35.197 in the PPV prediction,and R^(2)=0.975,MSE=0.000243,RMSE=0.015,NRMSE=0.031,MAD=0.008,MAPE=37.281 for the frequency *** study will help mining engineers and blasting experts to select the best machine learning model and its hyperparameters in estimating ground vibration,and *** the context of the mining and civil industry,the application of this study offers significant potential for enhancing safety protocols and optimizing operational *** employing machine learning models,this research aims to accurately predict and assess ground vibrations with frequency resulting from rock blasting.

Multi-Keypoint Affordance Representation for Functional Dexterous Grasping

Functional dexterous grasping requires precise hand-object interaction, going beyond simple gripping. Existing affordance-based methods primarily predict coarse interaction regions and cannot directly constrain the grasping posture, leading to a disconnection between visual perception and manipulation. To address this issue, we propose a multi-keypoint affordance representation for functional dexterous grasping, which directly encodes task-driven grasp configurations by localizing functional contact points. Our method introduces Contact-guided Multi-Keypoint Affordance (CMKA), leveraging human grasping experience images for weak supervision combined with Large Vision Models for fine affordance feature extraction, achieving generalization while avoiding manual keypoint annotations. Additionally, we present a Keypoint-based Grasp matrix Transformation (KGT) method, ensuring spatial consistency between hand keypoints and object contact points, thus providing a direct link between visual perception and dexterous grasping actions. Experiments on public real-world FAH datasets, IsaacGym simulation, and challenging robotic tasks demonstrate that our method significantly improves affordance localization accuracy, grasp consistency, and generalization to unseen tools and tasks, bridging the gap between visual affordance learning and dexterous robotic manipulation. In this paper, a novel control strategy based on model predictive control is proposed for tracking the trajectory of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV). First, the dynamic model of an unmanned aerial vehicle UAV is established by considering the linear velocities in terms of the analyzed system's attitude angles. The UAV's dynamic model is suitable for kinematic control by using two attitude angles as control inputs. The controller design is made up of an output feedback controller formed by the error variables, which are the difference between the measured output and the reference variables. Then, a model predictive control is established by considering an optimization problem with a performance index and the corresponding constraints. Furthermore, the stochastic properties of the UAV dynamic model are taken into account in this research study. The measured outputs provided by the sensors are constrained by the topological characteristics of the unmanned aerial vehicle to be analyzed. Finally, a numerical experiment and its conclusions are presented, demonstrating that the proposed control strategy provides optimal trajectory tracking. © 2022 IEEE.

With the developments of the Internet of Things, the demands of low latency, high bandwidth and high-performance computing has increased higher. Therefore, the distributed computing named Fog Computing has proposed to solve the problem above. Fog computing can provide lower transmission latency, faster response time and less network congestion. However, the fog devices are unable to guarantee the security and privacy of data transmission, due to they are vulnerable to attack. Blockchain technology works as a decentralized public ledger to store and share transactions. Blockchain can improve security and protect data privacy of Fog Computing. Moreover, there are still issues in the blockchain-enabled Fog Computing, the two main issues are the energy consumption and computing efficiency. Thus, in this paper, we propose an optimization framework for blockchain-enabled Fog Computing systems to optimize resource allocation. Besides, we adopt the dueling deep reinforcement learning to obtain the optimal resource allocation strategy, with dynamically selecting the fog server, offloading decision, block size. Simulation results show that the proposed framework can reduce the energy consumption and computation overhead of the system, as well as can improve the computing efficiency. © 2022 ACM.

To acquire per-hop flow-level information, existing works have made significant contributions to offloading network measurement onto data center switches. Despite this, they still pose challenges due to increasingly complex measurement tasks and massive network traffic. In this paper, we introduce FlowTracker, a flow measurement primitive in the data plane. Our key innovation is a hash-based data structure with constant size and collision resolution, which allows fine-grained and real-time monitoring of various flow statistics. We have fully implemented a FlowTracker prototype on a testbed and used real-world packet traces to evaluate its performance. The results demonstrate FlowTracker’s efficiency under different measurement tasks. In addition, FlowTracker requires low overhead, as well as ∼0.04% extra bandwidth for processing in large-scale networks. With FlowTracker, operators can gain a deeper understanding of their networks and make more accurate flow control decisions. © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.
