With the developments of the Internet of Things, the demands of low latency, high bandwidth and high-performance computing has increased higher. Therefore, the distributed computing named Fog Computing has proposed to solve the problem above. Fog computing can provide lower transmission latency, faster response time and less network congestion. However, the fog devices are unable to guarantee the security and privacy of data transmission, due to they are vulnerable to attack. Blockchain technology works as a decentralized public ledger to store and share transactions. Blockchain can improve security and protect data privacy of Fog Computing. Moreover, there are still issues in the blockchain-enabled Fog Computing, the two main issues are the energy consumption and computing efficiency. Thus, in this paper, we propose an optimization framework for blockchain-enabled Fog Computing systems to optimize resource allocation. Besides, we adopt the dueling deep reinforcement learning to obtain the optimal resource allocation strategy, with dynamically selecting the fog server, offloading decision, block size. Simulation results show that the proposed framework can reduce the energy consumption and computation overhead of the system, as well as can improve the computing efficiency.

The Multiscale Parameter Estimation Methods for a Sort of Time Series

There are a lot of time series in many fields, especially, the long memory time series, and one of main tasks to research them is how to estimate corresponding series parameters. There exist some current methods, such as the Traditional maximum likelihood estimation (TMLE) and Least square estimation (LSE) etc., but the huge computation burden is always a bottleneck to utilize them broadly in many applications. To overcome this difficulty, two new parameter estimation method, named identically Multiscale maximum likelihood estimation (MMLE), are proposed by combining Discrete wavelet transform (DWT) and Discrete wavelet package transform (DWPT) with the TMLE in this paper, respectively. These primary ideas are all as follows, firstly, applying the DWT/DWPT to these time series, which possess of some good properties, such as orthogonal decomposition and decorrelation; secondly, analyzing the time series in a multiscale domain, and studying their statistical properties in different scale, such as mean, variance and covariance. These new algorithms can effectively decrease computation complexity and obtain satisfying estimation precision illustrated by the data analysis and computer simulation.

Language-driven Grasp Detection with Mask-guided Attention

Grasp detection is an essential task in robotics with various industrial applications. However, traditional methods often struggle with occlusions and do not utilize language for grasping. Incorporating natural language into grasp detection remains a challenging task and largely unexplored. To address this gap, we propose a new method for language-driven grasp detection with mask-guided attention by utilizing the transformer attention mechanism with semantic segmentation features. Our approach integrates visual data, segmentation mask features, and natural language instructions, significantly improving grasp detection accuracy. Our work introduces a new framework for language-driven grasp detection, paving the way for language-driven robotic applications. Intensive experiments show that our method outperforms other recent baselines by a clear margin, with a 10.0% success score improvement. We further validate our method in real-world robotic experiments, confirming the effectiveness of our approach. © 2024, CC BY.

CoTV: Cooperative control for Traffic Light Signals and Connected Autonomous Vehicles using Deep Reinforcement Learning

The target of reducing travel time only is insufficient to support the development of future smart transportation systems. To align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDG), a further reduction of fuel and emissions, improvements of traffic safety, and the ease of infrastructure deployment and maintenance should also be considered. Different from existing work focusing on the optimization of the control in either traffic light signal (to improve the intersection throughput), or vehicle speed (to stabilize the traffic), this paper presents a multi-agent Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) system called CoTV, which Cooperatively controls both Traffic light signals and Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAV). Therefore, our CoTV can well balance the achievement of the reduction of travel time, fuel, and emissions. In the meantime, CoTV can also be easy to deploy by cooperating with only one CAV that is the nearest to the traffic light controller on each incoming road. This enables more efficient coordination between traffic light controllers and CAV, thus leading to the convergence of training CoTV under the large-scale multi-agent scenario that is traditionally difficult to converge. We give the detailed system design of CoTV and demonstrate its effectiveness in a simulation study using SUMO under various grid maps and realistic urban scenarios with mixed-autonomy traffic. Recently, offshore wind power has rapidly developed due to its low environmental interference and abundant wind resources. However, due to its remote geographical location and high demand for communication infrastructure, off-shore wind turbines (OWTs) are vulnerable to potential threats from false data injection (FDI) attack. FDI attack can interfere with active power control strategies by tampering with the rotor speed data measured by sensors and pose a threat to the stability of the power grid. To ensure that OWTs can accurately track the active power instructions set by wind farm's control center under FDI attack, this paper proposes a rotor speed control (RSC) strategy based on Kalman filtering technology (RSC- KF). This strategy can estimate the rotor speed of the wind turbine in real-time, and then a residual detection and compensation mechanism is designed to effectively detect and correct attacked rotor speed information caused by FDI attack. Further, based on the corrected rotor speed, the RSC method is developed, which can flexibly switch control strategies according to different rotor speed values, ensuring the efficient operation of OWTs under different wind speed conditions. The proposed approach's effectiveness is proved via simulations conducted on the OpenFAST platform.

The cooperative output regulation problem has been extensively studied on the basis of the distributed observer approach. However, the majority of the existing research assumes that the dynamics is known previously. To remove this condition, the cooperative output regulation problem is further solved via the data-driven framework where the dynamics of the plant is unknown. First, a data-driven distributed observer is established to estimate the state of the leader with unknown dynamics subject to external inputs. Second, the unknown regulator equations are solved using the iterative recurrent neural network approach. Third, the state-based data-driven distributed control law is synthesized to solve the problem. The optimal gains are derived by solving convex optimization problems using input and state data. Finally, a numerical example is presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed framework.

There is a need for robust Reinforcement Learning (RL) algorithms that can cope with model misspecification, parameter uncertainty, disturbances, etc. Risk-sensitive methods offer an approach to developing robust RL algorithms by hedging against undesirable outcomes in a probabilistic manner. The Probabilistic Graphical Model (PGM) framework offers systematic exploration for risk-sensitive RL. In this paper, we bridge the Markov Decision Process (MDP) and the PGM frameworks. We exploit the equivalence of optimizing a certain risk-sensitive criterion in the MDP formalism with optimizing a log-likelihood objective in the PGM formalism. By utilizing this equivalence, we offer an approach for developing risk-sensitive algorithms by leveraging the PGM framework. We explore the Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm under the PGM formalism. We show that risk-sensitive policy gradient methods can be obtained by applying sampling-based approaches to the EM algorithm, e.g., Monte-Carlo EM, with the log-likelihood. We show that Monte-Carlo EM leads to a risk-sensitive Monte-Carlo policy gradient algorithm. Our simulations illustrate the risk-sensitive nature of the resulting algorithm.

Corona Virus Disease-2019(COVID-19)continues to spread rapidly in the *** has dramatically affected daily lives,public health,and the world *** paper presents a segmentation and classification framework of COVID-19 images based on deep ***,the classification process is employed to discriminate between COVID-19,non-COVID,and pneumonia by Convolutional Neural Network(CNN).Then,the segmentation process is applied for COVID-19 and pneumonia CT ***,the resulting segmented images are used to identify the infected region,whether COVID-19 or *** proposed CNN consists of four Convolutional(Conv)layers,four batch normalization layers,and four Rectified Linear Units(ReLUs).The sizes of Conv layer used filters are 8,16,32,and *** maxpooling layers are employed with a stride of 2 and a 2×2 *** classification layer comprises a Fully-Connected(FC)layer and a soft-max activation function used to take the classification decision.A novel saliencybased region detection algorithm and an active contour segmentation strategy are applied to segment COVID-19 and pneumonia CT *** acquired findings substantiate the efficacy of the proposed framework for helping the specialists in automated diagnosis applications.

Job-dependent tool switching is necessary in many batch processing systems (BPSs). Heterogeneous tool demand and extra time consumption for tool switch bring great challenge for high-performance production scheduling in BPSs. In this study, we present a novel batch scheduling problem derived from a satellite vibration test system. Different from basic scheduling problems in BPSs with tool switching, it has complications caused by many-to-many task-tool matching and job release time constraints. Specifically, each job has predetermined candidate tools. One of them should be selected and equipped to process a given job. Unlike sequence-dependent setup time that is only related to two adjacent jobs, tool switching time is additionally dependent on the tools selected by both jobs from their respective candidate tools. Both job sequence and tool selections need to be determined to minimize makespan. Mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) and constraint programming (CP) models are developed for formulating the problem. We prove that the problem is NP hard. To obtain exact solutions, we propose a novel branch-and-bound algorithm (B&B) based on the analysis and extraction of problem properties. It integrates a domain reduction mechanism, branching strategies, and dominance rules. Among them, the domain reduction mechanism reduces the number of jobs to be scheduled;the branching strategies accelerate solving speed;and the dominance rules save the memory consumption. Ablation studies and key influencing factor experiments are performed. The results show that the proposed B&B can optimally solve much larger instances than state-of-the-art methods (including some heuristics). It can optimally solve industrial-size problems in a short time, implying that it can well satisfy the performance demand of a satellite vibration test system and thus advancing the filed of optimal scheduling for BPSs. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

Cancelable biometrics are required in most remote access applications that need an authentication stage such as the cloud and Internet of Things(IoT)*** objective of using cancelable biometrics is to save the original ones from hacking attempts.A generalized algorithm to generate cancelable templates that is applicable on both single and multiple biometrics is proposed in this paper to be considered for cloud and IoT *** original biometric is blurred with two co-prime ***,it can be recovered as the Greatest Common Divisor(GCD)between its two blurred *** changes if induced in the biometric image prior to processing with co-prime operators prevents the recovery of the original biometric image through a GCD ***,the ability to change cancelable templates is guaranteed,since the owner of the biometric can pre-determine and manage the minimal change induced in the biometric ***,we test the utility of the proposed algorithm in the single-and multi-biometric *** multi-biometric scenario depends on compressing face,fingerprint,iris,and palm print images,simultaneously,to generate the cancelable *** metrics such as Equal Error Rate(EER)and Area and Receiver Operator Characteristic curve(AROC)are *** results on single-and multi-biometric scenarios show high AROC values up to 99.59%,and low EER values down to 0.04%.
