Design and Implementation of a Wide-Swing CMOS Multiplier for AC Source Signal Tracking and Modulation

The multiplier is a pervasive critical component today. However, most of them are difficult to be integrated into an integrated circuit. In this study, we proposed a novel analog multiplier for AC power application, using CMOS process to realize the analog voltage multiplication function of double-ended input and single-ended output. Under the working voltage of 3.3 V, the multiplier can operate with a wide input voltage range of 0–1.6 V (about 48.8% of the working voltage) and a wide output voltage range of 0–2.56 V (about 77.5% of the working voltage). The multiplier is implemented through the current difference between two NMOSs operating in the linear region and the saturation region, respectively. Compared with the existing technique, the proposed analog multiplier has a wider input and output range, and better linearity. It is suitable for AC power signal tracking and modulation. Finally, the United Microelectronics Corporation 0.18 μm 1P4M CMOS standard process was used for physical implementation. Moreover, there is not any BJT or special device used. It was measured that the analog multiplier circuit consumes about 0.56 mW at a working voltage of 3.3 V. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Gas leaks are the main cause of industrial fires and accidents. These cause countless fatalities, equipment damage, and other severe environmental effects. In this paper, we provide a framework for the monitoring and detection of methane leakage using a diffusion model based on the gas diffusion theory. Given that centralized Least Square methods are not efficient and robust as they require the gathering and processing of large-scale measurements on a central node. We propose a detection technique which makes use of the distributed (Non-linear) least squares method to overcome this problem. Then, a network of connected methane sensors is used to detect gas leaks. In order to estimate the parameters of the diffusive model for the gas leakage on each sensor node, a distributed recursive estimator of the consensus plus an innovation type technique is used. The characteristics being estimated include the gas source’s distance, which will be effectively triangulated to determine the source’s precise location. The targeted location is subsequently estimated using a location dispersed algorithm-based LS.

The aim of the project was to build a prototype of a turbine drive with a controllable thrust vector for a long-range vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft. The construction of the prototype required the development of a vectoring system for the tail propulsion system and a dedicated VTOL aircraft stabilization and control system. The prototype of the turbine drive system was based on energy-efficient electric motors. Research also involved modeling the turbine propulsion aerodynamics with usage of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis. This study investigates the degradation mechanisms of gate oxide in n-channel MOSFETs subjected to Fowler-Nordheim constant current stress to introduce uniformly distributed defects. Different techniques were used to characterise the impact of stress-induced defects on the electrical properties of MOSFETs. The findings reveal distinct degradation behaviors, with early-stage negative shifts in threshold voltage attributed to hole trapping, transitioning to positive shifts due to interface state generation at higher electron fluence. The study also emphasises the factors that influence device performance. The results enhance our understanding of gate oxide reliability under high-field stress, as well as the mechanisms of defect creation and charge trapping in MOSFETs.

Most companies relay on centralized servers, which are considered as a fast and easy to deploy solution for file sharing, but they have many downsides, like security and trust issues, which can be solved using DLT (blockchain) solutions. However, DLT-based solutions have many challenges, such as nodes orchestration, adjusting reliability and double-spending, as well as load balancing. This research proposes a DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) based model for files storage for companies using p2p networks, which takes into account both data reliability and storage space efficiency. More efficient data storage is achieved through the use of the Erasure coding technique. For load balancing, a set of algorithms that can be implemented in the form of a smart contract were proposed. The described model can become the basis of the IT infrastructure for trusted exchange of documents, technical and scientific information, games distributions, mobile applications, updates of scientific, regulatory and technical databases in b2b and b2c format © 2022 IEEE.

The research and application of innovative technologies represents the basis for progress in the field of space exploration. However, the testing of these novel technologies in a space environment presents challenges, primarily due to the high costs associated with launching dedicated missions. For this reason, different solutions may be exploited to assess the implementation of new technologies as an alternative means to increase their Technology Readiness Level. Stratospheric balloons represent a possible platform able to deliver a harsh flight environment in which an experiment can prove its functionality and provide invaluable data. In this context, students from the S5Lab at Sapienza University of Rome are currently developing the RETINA (Real time Experiment for Thermal management Inertial Navigation and Attitude) stratospheric balloon experiment, aimed at performing four innovative experiments to increase their TRL for future space applications. The experiments on board will test the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms for attitude determination using IMU data, data fusion algorithms for navigation using measurements from an array of low cost IMUs and the implementation of a miniaturized two-phase mechanically pumped loop cooling system. Furthermore, the first in flight demonstration of a Flexible Time Triggered Ethernet network for communication between on board devices will be performed. The data fusion and FTT-Ethernet experiments are developed by the Sapienza S5Lab and DIET within the NIBBIO research project coordinated by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) for the study and prototyping of hybrid-distributed navigation systems for launchers. The RETINA mission is set to fly in October 2024 within the context of the REXUS/BEXUS program on BEXUS 34. TripleSolver: A Separate-Simultaneous-Separate Solving Framework for Dual-Robot Calibration

Calibrating unknown transformation relationships is crucial for achieving coordinated motion in dual-robot systems. This calibration process can be formulated by solving the transformation matrix equation $\mathbf {AXB=YCZ}$ . Existing separate approaches handle the rotation and translation components of this equation sequentially, which may suffer from error propagation. In contrast, simultaneous approaches optimize both components together but often encounter instability due to challenges in balancing their weights. To tackle these issues, this letter introduces TripleSolver, a novel separate-simultaneous-separate solving framework to address $\mathbf {AXB = YCZ}$ through a three-stage process. First, the rotation and translation components are solved separately, yielding two sets of estimates. Second, the shared rotation parameters from these estimates are refined using simultaneous optimization with automatically calculated weights. Last, the remaining parameters are determined based on the refined rotation parameters. Comparative results against state-of-the-art methods indicate that the proposed framework offers efficient calibration with improved accuracy and robustness.

Adversarial Attacks Against Uncertainty Quantification

Machine-learning models can be fooled by adversarial examples, i.e., carefully-crafted input perturbations that force models to output wrong predictions. While uncertainty quantification has been recently proposed to detect adversarial inputs, under the assumption that such attacks exhibit a higher prediction uncertainty than pristine data, it has been shown that adaptive attacks specifically aimed at reducing also the uncertainty estimate can easily bypass this defense mechanism. In this work, we focus on a different adversarial scenario in which the attacker is still interested in manipulating the uncertainty estimate, but regardless of the correctness of the prediction;in particular, the goal is to undermine the use of machine-learning models when their outputs are consumed by a downstream module or by a human operator. Following such direction, we: (i) design a threat model for attacks targeting uncertainty quantification;(ii) devise different attack strategies on conceptually different UQ techniques spanning for both classification and semantic segmentation problems;(iii) conduct a first complete and extensive analysis to compare the differences between some of the most employed UQ approaches under attack. Our extensive experimental analysis shows that our attacks are more effective in manipulating uncertainty quantification measures than attacks aimed to also induce misclassifications. © 2023, CC BY.

In recent years,there are numerous studies on chaotic systems with special equilibrium curves having various shapes such as circle,butterfly,heart and *** paper describes a new 3-D chaotic dynamical system with a capsule-shaped equilibrium *** proposed chaotic system has two quadratic,two cubic and two quartic nonlinear *** is noted that the proposed chaotic system has a hidden attractor since it has an infinite number of equilibrium *** is also established that the proposed chaotic system exhibits multi-stability with two coexisting chaotic attractors for the same parameter values but differential initial states.A detailed bifurcation analysis with respect to variations in the system parameters is portrayed for the new chaotic system with capsule equilibrium *** have shown MATLAB plots to illustrate the capsule equilibrium curve,phase orbits of the new chaotic system,bifurcation diagrams and *** an engineering application,we have proposed a speech cryptosystem with a numerical algorithm,which is based on our novel 3-D chaotic system with a capsule-shaped equilibrium *** proposed speech cryptosystem follows its security evolution and implementation on Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA)*** results show that the proposed encryption system utilizes 33%of the FPGA,while the maximum clock frequency is 178.28 MHz.
