In actual conversational scenarios, we can often determine which parts of the previous dialogue are more critical based on the current inquiry. However, the existing contextual modeling methods often encode the query sentence and the dialogue history in a unified manner, which fails to effectively highlight the inference effect of the query sentence. Moreover, these methods typically process the dialogue history only at the information extraction level, neglecting the treatment of the context itself. In this paper, we propose a novel conversational context modeling technique called DialogNTM. Based on the guidance of the query sentence, the technology can effectively eliminate redundant information by reconstructing the representation of the context. Specifically, we have tweaked the memory and input flow of the Neural Turing Machine (NTM) to encode contextual information in memory and guide the read, write, and erase operations of memory through query sentence. This design simulates the human brain's dynamic retrieval and renewal mechanism of previous memories when dealing with current problems. We have conducted extensive experiments on three publicly available datasets to verify the effectiveness of the DialogNTM model. Compared to the benchmark model, DialogNTM showed significant performance improvements ranging from 11% to 73% across multiple automated evaluation metrics (3.52% to 8.68% in absolute terms). © 2024 IEEE.

This study presents a novel approach for the adaptive control of chaotic spur gear systems using Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO) and attention-based learning. The spur gear system is known for its chaotic behavior, posing challenges for conventional control methods. In this research, the on-policy deep reinforcement learning algorithm, PPO, is employed to effectively control the chaotic dynamics of the spur gear system. PPO is a good choice for controlling chaotic systems because it can learn from the current policy, which is important in situations where the dynamics of the system can change quickly. Furthermore, the neural network architecture within the PPO framework is enhanced by incorporating a self-Attention mechanism. The attention mechanism can adaptively adjust its attention weights based on the current state and policy, allowing the network to dynamically allocate its resources to the most critical aspects of the system. The proposed adaptive control approach demonstrates promising results in effectively managing the chaotic spur gear System, offering potential applications in various real-world scenarios where such systems are encountered. © 2023 IEEE.

One of the most common types of cancer in the world is lung cancer, which is a cause of increasing mortality. It is most often discovered in the middle and later stages as it does not have obvious symptoms due to which its treatment is often missed. Studies show that most lung cancers are in the form of lung nodules, which can be categorized as benign or malignant. Thus, accurate early identification of malignant lung nodules that might later become cancerous is essential for the prevention of lung cancer. Computed Tomography (CT) images can be useful for identifying and segmenting these nodules. In this paper, we propose an ensemble model, called BUS-UNet++, to segment lung nodules using CT images. We use a combination of the ConvLSTM up-sampling architecture from BUS-UNet and skip connections in aggregation blocks from the UNet++ model to build the BUS-UNet++ ensemble. The dataset for this study is collected from the Lung Image Database Consortium Image Database Resource Initiative (LIDC-IDRI), where we have selected the modality of these images as CT images. These are further preprocessed to obtain nodule masks and nodule images, which constitute the Region of Interest (RoI). The accuracy achieved with the Adam Optimizer is 0.9731, the Intersection over Union (IoU) of about 0.8439, and the dice score coefficient (DSC) of about 0.958 are obtained by the proposed system. This ensemble model outperforms several state-of-the-art models used for the same purpose. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Existing explainability approaches for convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are mainly applied after training (post-hoc) which is generally unreliable. Ante-hoc explainers trained simultaneously with the CNN are more reliable. However, current ante-hoc explanation methods mainly generate inexplicit concept-based explanations tailored to specific tasks. To address these limitations, we propose a task-agnostic ante-hoc framework that can generate interpretation maps to visually explain any CNN. Our framework simultaneously trains the CNN and a weighting network - an explanation generation module. The generated maps are self-explanatory, eliminating the need for manual identification of concepts. We demonstrate that our method can interpret classification, facial landmark detection, and image captioning tasks. We show that our framework is explicit, faithful, and stable through experiments. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first ante-hoc CNN explanation strategy that produces visual explanations generic to CNNs for different tasks. © 2023 IEEE.

High-dimensional microarray data suffer from the confounding effects of irrelevant, redundant and noisy genes on the scalability and efficiency of classification algorithms. In order for an effective dimensionality reduction and the selection of informative genes, this paper introduces a novel approach using fractional calculus concepts. This study proposes a modified version of binary the bat algorithm named fractional-order binary bat algorithm (FBBA) able to control the convergence process using more historical memory of bat behaviors. The gene selection technique contains a two-stage hybrid filter/wrapper method which employs a new correlation-based feature clustering (CFC) algorithm in the filter stage and the FBBA in the wrapper stage. The CFC-FBBA is evaluated on ten microarray gene expression datasets by employing the support vector machine classifier with a k-fold Monte Carlo cross validation data partitioning model. Furthermore, the results show that the CFC-FBBA, while minimizing the size of the gene subset, achieves the highest classification accuracy in most cases compared to several state-of-art hybrid techniques. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

An important aspect related to the effects of agricultural activities on the environment is represented by the nutrient loss in water and air (specifically nitrogen). The interactions between catchments hydrological processes, management of farm activities, climate changes and nitrogen losses constitute a complex phenomenon yet not well understood, being an important concern from the sustainable agriculture perspective. Nitrogen can be lost with water as leaching or runoff, or as gas as ammonia volatilization. Nitrous oxide (N2O) is particularly problematic because it is also a powerful greenhouse gas. The goal of the current article is to present innovative digital techniques to advance in understanding of this phenomena through an Information System that integrates Artificial Intelligence techniques such as Semantic Technologies and Machine Learning (ML) into Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) to support smart farming and sustainable agriculture. © 2023 IEEE.

Obstacle avoidance is a significant research content in multi-agents formation control. The obstacle avoidance of multi-agents systems is investigated in this paper, and an improved artificial potential field method (IAPF) is proposed to avoid unknown obstacles in multi-agent formation. Aiming at improving the efficiency of formation avoidance and solving the non-reachable and local minima problems, the dynamic sub-target algorithm is proposed. The proposed method enables the multi-agent system (MASs) to avoid obstacles smoothly and quickly and complete formation tasks in complex environments by tracking dynamic sub-target as well, in which the position and motion direction of adjacent agents are taken into account in the selection of a sub-target for the formation efficiency. In addition, a variable potential field range is defined to ensure the safety of the formation. Finally, several simulation results verify the superiority and effectiveness of the proposed approach. © 2023 IEEE.

Modelling information warfare dynamics to counter propaganda using a nonlinear differential equation with a PINN-based learning approach

The widespread dissemination of misinformation and propaganda has become a crucial issue in societal conversations. This study presents an innovative framework to counter propaganda within information warfare using a modified logistic differential equation integrated with a Physics-Informed Neural Network (PINN). Employing the LIAR dataset, which reflects real-world political discourse, our model captures the intricate dynamics of propaganda. The novel approach effectively estimates underlying dynamics and unknown parameters, yielding superior accuracy (97.32%) compared to benchmark models. A parameter sensitivity analysis reveals the significant impact of the spread rate parameter, shedding light on aggressive propaganda dissemination. This research paves the way for robust methods in combating propaganda, demonstrating the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed PINN-based model over established benchmark models. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Bharati Vidyapeeth's Institute of computer Applications and Management.

The real-time map plays a vital role in the Internet of Vehicles (IoV) navigation. Compared with the existing map review, the real-time map review method is based on crowdsensing enabling faster data updates and shortening the map period from map collection to service. However, the crowdsensing method requires frequent interaction between the vehicle and nearby devices or servers, increasing the risk of user privacy leakage. How to ensure the privacy of users is a challenge in the real-time map review. Starting from the typical architecture of IoV and combining the core idea of zero-trust 'never trust, continuous verification', IoV-ZT conceptual model architecture is designed. This paper proposes a based on linkable ring signature map review scheme for zero-trust autonomous vehicles (LRSMR). In the LRSMR, a linkable ring signature based on the SM2 digital signature algorithm is used to protect user identity privacy and ensures while ensuring signature linkability by hiding the identity of the actual signer in the ring. Through the requirement for user credit, the reliability of the review data is improved. At the same time, the distribution of rewards increases users' motivation. At last, the security analysis indicates that the LRSMR satisfies correctness, unforgeability, unconditional anonymity, linkability and nonslanderability. The simulation results illustrate that the LRSMR is efficient in terms of communication overhead and computation cost. © 2023 IEEE.
