Computational models of acoustic wave propagation are frequently used in transcranial ultrasound therapy, for example, to calculate the intracranial pressure field or to calculate phase delays to correct for skull distortions. To allow intercomparison between the different modeling tools and techniques used by the community, an international working group was convened to formulate a set of numerical benchmarks. Here, these benchmarks are presented, along with intercomparison results. Nine different benchmarks of increasing geometric complexity are defined. These include a single-layer planar bone immersed in water, a multi-layer bone, and a whole skull. Two transducer configurations are considered (a focused bowl and a plane piston), giving a total of 18 permutations of the benchmarks. Eleven different modeling tools are used to compute the benchmark results. The models span a wide range of numerical techniques, including the finite-difference time-domain method, angular-spectrum method, pseudospectral method, boundary-element method, and spectral-element method. Good agreement is found between the models, particularly for the position, size, and magnitude of the acoustic focus within the skull. When comparing results for each model with every other model in a cross comparison, the median values for each benchmark for the difference in focal pressure and position are less than 10% and 1 mm, respectively. A global optimization approach for solving non-monotone equilibrium problems (EPs) is proposed. The class of (regularized) gap functions is used to reformulate any EP as a constrained global optimization program and some bounds on the Lipschitz constant of such functions are provided. The proposed global optimization approach is a combination of an improved version of the DIRECT algorithm, which exploits local bounds of the Lipschitz constant of the objective function, with local minimizations. Unlike most existing solution methods for EPs, no monotonicity-type condition is assumed in this paper. The paper presents a method allowing to construct no-wait cyclical schedules for repetitive transport systems (e.g. the milk-run) servicing cyclic material supply loops in the production system using selected means of transport (e.g. AGVs). The transport means are following established routes and given arrival times. The routes are composed of sectors linking workstations. Transport trolleys may share specific sectors of the route in mutual exclusion mode and must wait in a given sector to enter the next sector of the route when another trolley occupies it. The job-shop repetitive transportation system is a system of cyclic processes with a fixed structure that are executing sequences of operations (routes) using shared resources (sectors). The work aims to find a no-wait cyclic schedule that guarantees the required delivery dates or establish that such a schedule does not exist. It considers cyclic process systems for which each resource can be used by at most two operations, and the deadlock state cannot occur as a result of waiting processes on shared resources. For specified initial operations of cyclic processes and their start times (the initial system state), the problem of determining no-wait cyclical schedules decomposes into subproblems. Each subproblem consists of the verification of necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions for each of 2-process subsystems composed of one shared resource and two processes using this resource. The method aims of prototyping various variants of process starting times for which the conditions guaranteeing no-wait property of the system hold simultaneously for each of the 2-process subsystems. It allows designing cyclic schedules for complex systems composed of 2-process subsystems that are structurally deadlock-free. The widespread of Next Generation Sequencing technologies accounted in recent years for the possibility to evaluate gene expression with great accuracy. Moreover, it allowed assessing differential gene expression among biological conditions with high sensitivity. However, state-of-the-art bioinformatics methodologies for differential gene expression evaluation from RNA Sequencing data still suffer from several drawbacks such as reduced specificity. In this paper we propose geneEx, a novel methodology and tool for differential gene expression evaluation from RNA Sequencing reads. By combining gene and exon expression evaluation and BioMart information, geneEX provides users with annotated lists of highly reliable differentially expressed genes. The results obtained in Sequencing Quality control dataset proven the importance of a novel approach to lower False Positive predictions from current methodologies and the strength of the proposed methodological approach to increase the sensitivity of differentially expressed gene identification. This study introduces rotor-edge current control concerning stator-edge power behavior based on the online tuned Resonant Proportional-Integral Regulator using Discrete-BAT optimization Algorithm (DPIR-ON-DBAT) for the DFIG-WPGS as a Recurrent Artificial Neural Network (RANN). The DPIR-ON-DBAT is designed to control the distorted system with several dynamic positions and control goals. The +dq rotor-edge current components, swings of electromagnetic torque and stator-edge power, are regulated by the proposed control with a resonant part oscillated at 6-times the main system frequency. Consequently, these variables are instantly regulated by the DPIR-ON-DBAT technique without extra succession disassembling the segments. The simulation results are implemented using Matlab-Simulink for the introduced control of a 2MW DFIG-WPGS, which gave a better dynamic behavior than the customary PIR-Naslin and PI control principle. © 2019 IEEE.

—We consider the problem of communication allocation for remote state estimation in a cognitive radio sensor network (CRSN). A sensor collects measurements of a physical plant, and transmits the data to a remote estimator as a secondary user (SU) in the shared network. The existence of the primal users (PUs) brings exogenous uncertainties into the transmission scheduling process, and how to design an event-based scheduling scheme considering these uncertainties has not been addressed in the literature. In this work, we start from the formulation of a discrete-time remote estimation process in the CRSN, and then analyze the hidden information contained in the absence of data transmission. In order to achieve a better tradeoff between estimation performance and communication consumption, we propose both open-loop and closed-loop schedules using the hidden information under a Bayesian setting. The open-loop schedule does not rely on any feedback signal but only works for stable plants. For unstable plants, a closed-loop schedule is designed based on feedback signals. The parameter design problems in both schedules are efficiently solved by convex programming. Numerical simulations are included to illustrate the theoretical results. Copyright © 2020, The Authors. The technology of next generation sequencing brought about evolution in research that based on sequence which replaces the microarray due to its advantages. The RNA-Seq is a high-throughput gene expression data that uses NGS technologies. The problem of high-throughput RNA-Seq datasets is the high of dimensionally (variables > observations) that need to reduce their dimensions to predict and classify. In this work, ensemble-based on the approach of selection the feature is proposed to choose small optimal genes from various RNA-Seq cancer datasets. The approach combines two filters to select the features (SNR and t-test). In addition, SVM-RFE is used as an embedded feature selection. The SVM classifier used for validating and testing the selected genes using the accuracy measure. The results show the ability to select small optimal genes with high accuracy. Consequently, the genes which are selected will be used as biomarkers to diagnose cancer. © 2019 IEEE.

This paper proposes an optimization model for community microgrid. The proposed scheme performs the scheduling of domestic appliances in a community microgrid using renewable energy resources. The objective of the scheme is to minimize the total operating cost in the whole community. The optimization problem is solved using the branch and bound algorithm. Blockchain (BC) technology is introduced for secure implementation of the proposed approach. Machine to machine interaction is facilitated using BC technology. The transaction information/ data is stored in the distributed shared ledger. The smart contract is used to automatically trigger the flow of electricity and the movement of funds once the necessary conditions are met. © 2019 IEEE.

By the use of homotopy perturbation method-Padé (HPM-Padé) technique, a new analytical approximation of luminosity distance in the flat universe is proposed, which has the advantage of significant improvement for accuracy in approximating luminosity distance over cosmological redshift range within 0 ≤ z ≤ 2.5. Then we confront the analytical expression of luminosity distance that is obtained by our new approach with the observational data, for the purpose of checking whether it works well. In order to probe the robustness of the proposed method, we also confront it to supernova type Ia and recent data on the Hubble expansion rate H(z).
