The modular multilevel topology is the double-boost type. This topology can be implemented either in single-phase or three-phase implementation, as well as in interleaved connection. As all converters of its type, this converter provides high power quality in terms of power factor and total harmonic distortion. In addition, the topology provides redundant states that are used to balance the flying capacitors during normal operation and to implement a post-fault reconfiguration strategy to provide continues operation when the permanent-short circuit failures occurs. Two control strategies using phase-shifted carrier PWM and phase disposition PWM are presented. The characteristics of the converter topology and the control strategies are demonstrated through mathematical analysis and simulation. A mock-up of the converter was constructed to verify the feasibility of both control strategies and the post-fault reconfiguration strategy.

Motivated by this fact, a rich and powerful collection of decomposition methods are available for model based diagnosis of large-scale complex dynamic systems, too. At the same time, one usually does not have enough information about a large-scale complex dynamic system to construct its precise enough model, so a kind of qualitative dynamic model is often used for the diagnosis. Tensor decomposition methods are widely used for solving high-dimensional and multi-dimensional problems. These approaches have a huge potential for reducing computational costs in the simulation of electronic circuits and in the CAD systems for electronics. Simulation of modern radio-frequency (RF) circuits, especially for RF integrated circuits, is one of the areas of extensive scientific research and development. The main problem of analysis methods for circuit design of RF electronics is the significant computational costs associated with the high dimensions to be solved. This paper shows that the computational costs of circuit design are largely determined by the costs of solving a system of linear algebraic equations (SLAE). The problems of the solving of SLAE are indicated in the paper. Further development of methods for solving and reducing computational costs requires the use of new approaches, one of which is proposed in this paper. The article presents the developed algorithm for converting a second-order matrix into a higher-order tensor. In this paper algorithms and software tools for tensor decompositions, as well as methods for solving SLAE in the representation of equations in tensor format are investigated. The results of numerical experiments and the results of comparison with traditional methods are presented.

In order to better understand the stochastic dynamic features of signalized traffic networks, we propose a Markov traffic model to simulate the dynamics of traffic link flow density for signalized urban traffic networks with demand uncertainty. In this model, we have four different state modes for the link according to different congestion levels of the link. Each link can only be in one of the four link state modes at any time, and the transition probability from one state to the other state is estimated by Bayesian estimation based on the distributions of the dynamic traffic flow densities, and the posterior probabilities. Therefore, we use a first-order Markov Chain Model to describe the dynamics of the traffic flow evolution process. We illustrate our approach for a small traffic network. Compared with the data from the microscopic traffic simulator SUMO, the proposed model can estimate the link traffic densities accurately and can give a reliable estimation of the uncertainties in the dynamic process of signalized traffic networks.

For the stability of 2-dimensional (2D) filters it is required that the denominator polynomial of the transfer function (or the characteristic polynomial of the state-space model) have no zeros in the closed unit bidisc. A new algebraic test is presented to test this stability condition using 3 simple 1D conditions and a generalized eigenvalue problem. The approach is based on using the conjugate of the original polynomial together with Tschebyscheff polynomials to transform the problem of stability analysis of a polynomial with coefficients depending on a complex variable to a problem with a polynomial with coefficients depending on a real variable. It is shown that the latter condition can be tested using a generalized eigenvalue problem. The method is illustrated with an example.

This paper establishes a methodology based on linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) to design a shifting H ∞ linear parameter varying (LPV) state-feedback controller for systems affected by time-varying input saturations. By means of the shifting paradigm, the instantaneous saturation values are linked to a scheduling parameter vector. Then, the disturbance rejection is dealt with the quadratic boundedness concept and the shifting H ∞ methodology. The design conditions are obtained within the LPV framework using ellipsoidal invariant sets, thus obtaining an LMI-based feasibility problem that can be solved via available solvers. Finally, the main characteristics of the proposed approach are validated by means of an illustrative example.
