—Internet of things (IoT) is powering up smart cities by connecting all kinds of electronic devices. The power supply problem of IoT devices constitutes a major challenge in current IoT development, due to the poor battery endurance as well as the troublesome cable deployment. The wireless power transfer (WPT) technology has recently emerged as a promising solution. Yet, existing WPT advances cannot support free and mobile charging like Wi-Fi communications. To this end, the concept of mobile energy transfer (MET) is proposed, which relies critically on an resonant beam charging (RBC) technology. The adaptive (A) RBC technology builds on RBC, but aims at improving the charging efficiency by charging devices at device preferred current and voltage levels adaptively. A mobile ARBC scheme is developed relying on an adaptive source power control. Extensive numerical simulations using a 1,000mAh Li-ion battery show that the mobile ARBC outperforms simple charging schemes such as the constant power charging, the profile-adaptive charging, and the distance-adaptive charging in saving energy. The last few decades have witnessed over exploitation of natural resources by humans and this has led to various types of pollution including air pollution thereby leading to global warming. Aviation industry is one the contributors to the aforementioned problem. This paper is intended to represent the utilization of a renewable source of energy i.e. solar energy to extend the flight of a small aircraft, thereby reducing pollution and marching towards sustainable development. An aircraft is made with a solar panel consisting of Photo-Voltaic Cells installed on its wings that not only utilizes the sun's radiation for immediate use but it also stores the remaining part of energy by charging the attached battery for the flight duration during night and cloudy weather. Thus, the science of photo-voltaic is used in conjunction with the aerodynamics which helps in the flight of the aircraft.

We investigate the existence of nonnegative solutions for a Riemann-Liouville fractional differential equation with integral terms, subject to boundary conditions which contain fractional derivatives and Riemann-Stieltjes integrals. In the proof of the main results, we use the Banach contraction mapping principle and the Krasnosel’skii fixed point theorem for the sum of two operators.

Multi-user multi-keyword ranked search scheme in arbitrary language is a novel multi-keyword rank searchable encryption (MRSE) framework based on Paillier Cryptosystem with Threshold Decryption (PCTD). Compared to previous MRSE schemes constructed based on the k-nearest neighbor searchable encryption (KNN-SE) algorithm, it can mitigate some drawbacks and achieve better performance in terms of functionality and efficiency. Additionally, it does not require a predefined keyword set and support keywords in arbitrary languages. However, due to the pattern of exact matching of keywords in the new MRSE scheme, multilingual search is limited to each language and cannot be searched across languages. In this paper, we propose a cross-lingual multi-keyword rank search (CLRSE) scheme which eliminates the barrier of languages and achieves semantic extension with using the Open Multilingual Wordnet. Our CLRSE scheme also realizes intelligent and personalized search through flexible keyword and language preference settings. We evaluate the performance of our scheme in terms of security, functionality, precision and efficiency, via extensive experiments. Copyright © 2019, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Pakistan is a big country with diverse nature of land ranging from mountain, deserts to plain lands. There are eleven distribution companies to cover electrical power distribution over 100Million consumers. The field work of electrical distribution is sometimes life threating and tough. The consumers have their first interaction with distribution staff. A satisfied distribution staff led towards satisfied customer. The main objective of this research work is to look for the influence of various reward types on several variables of a company's outcomes. These include worker outcomes and performance, like satisfaction from their jobs and turnover intention. Only remunerations alone do not encourage the workers' attitudes and responses but their approach towards the remunerations regarding the fulfillment of their outcomes from the persuaded job. Employees manage their attitudes or responses, which might be positive or negative, depending on their fulfilment of remunerations. In the context of equity theory, if a worker thinks the outcome of his/her input to output percentage lacks in contrast to his/her colleagues, it might develop a sense of non-fulfilment and hence might lose their output efficacy.

Performance and robustness assessment of H ∞ active anti-roll bar control system by using a software environment

The active anti-roll bar system has been proven to be one of the most effective solutions to improve roll stability of heavy vehicles. In a previous work, the authors proposed an H ∞ controller for this system. The Genetic Algorithms method was used to handle the vehicle roll stability and the energy consumption of the actuators via the Pareto optimality. This paper aims to assess the overall effectiveness of the proposed controller with nonlinear heavy vehicle models, which are already set up in the TruckSim ® software. The controller is then evaluated in hard conditions to show the high performance and robust with the nonlinearity effects, such as the load distribution between the two axles, the side wind gusts and the abrupt steering. To conduct testing of the H ∞ active anti-roll bar control system, we propose a co-simulation structure between TruckSim ® and Simulink ® : the nonlinear vehicle model is determined from TruckSim ® , based on using the block S-function of Simulink. Meanwhile, the controller and the actuators are built directly in the Matlab/Simulink ® environment. The validation results are made through two different types of heavy vehicles: a tour bus and a truck, using a selection of different velocities and scenarios. The results show that by using the H ∞ active anti-roll bar control system, in comparison to the passive anti roll bar system, roll stability is improved to minimise the risk of vehicle rollover.

The cyclic nature of the production flow enables just-in-time planning and organization of the associated supply chains. In turn, disruptions in the operation of machinery and equipment, which occur in practice, lead to deviations from nominal operation times. That lead to changes in production takt time, making it necessary to adjust previously created schedules for delivery/reception of materials. Consequently since a control action should be taken to adjust transport operation times within a specified time range, the following problem of fault-tolerant cyclic scheduling boils down to the dual stage task composed of linear- and mixed-linear-integer programming. Its advantage is that it can compensate the effects of certain faults such as delays present in the assembly station or reduced velocities of mobile robots enabling the system to return to the previously scheduled delivery times.

A Primal-Dual SGD Algorithm for Distributed Nonconvex Optimization

The distributed nonconvex optimization problem of minimizing a global cost function formed by a sum of n local cost functions by using local information exchange is considered. This problem is an important component of many machine learning techniques with data parallelism, such as deep learning and federated learning. We propose a distributed primal–dual stochastic gradient descent (SGD) algorithm, suitable for arbitrarily connected communication networks and any smooth (possibly nonconvex) cost functions. We show that the proposed algorithm achieves the linear speedup convergence rate O(1/√nT) for general nonconvex cost functions and the linear speedup convergence rate O(1/(nT)) when the global cost function satisfies the Polyak–Lojasiewicz (P–L) condition, where T is the total number of iterations. We also show that the output of the proposed algorithm with constant parameters linearly converges to a neighborhood of a global optimum. We demonstrate through numerical experiments the efficiency of our algorithm in comparison with the baseline centralized SGD and recently proposed distributed SGD algorithms. Summary of PID control System of Liquid Level of a Single-Capacity Tank

Liquid level is one of the control parameters widely used in industrial production. Accurate control of liquid level bears on the quality, efficiency and market of products, as well as the effect and safety of production. Therefore, the research on liquid level control has practical significance and broad application prospects. In view of this, this article firstly briefly analyzes the characteristics of the single-tank water tank level system, and then focuses on the realization of classical, fuzzy and neural network PID (Proportion Integral Differential) algorithm for the single-tank water tank level system. Finally, the validity of algorithm is proved by the system real-time simulation curve, which provides a more comprehensive reference for similar control systems.

Sensor errors limit the performance of a supervision and control system. Sensor accuracy can be affected by many factors such as extreme working conditions, sensor deterioration and interferences from other devices. It may be difficult to distinguish sensor errors and real dynamic changes in a system. A hybrid online multi-sensor error detection and functional redundancy (HOMSED&FR) algorithm is developed to monitor the performance of multiple sensors and reconcile the erroneous sensor signals. The algorithm relies on two methods, outlier-robust Kalman filter (ORKF) and a locally-weighted partial least squares (LW-PLS) regression model. The two methods have different way of using data, ORKF is comparing current signal samples with the signal trace indicated by previous samples and LW-PLS is comparing samples in the past window with the samples from a database and uses the samples with the most similarity to build a model to predict the current signal values. The performance of this system is illustrated with a clinical case involving artificial pancreas experiments, which include data from a continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sensor, and energy expenditure (EE) and Galvanic Skin Response (GSR) information based on wearable sensors that collect data from people with type 1 diabetes. The results indicate that the proposed method can successfully detect most of the erroneous signals and substitute them with reasonably estimated values computed by the functional redundancy system. © 2018
