Adaptive particle swarm optimization model for resource leveling

In the process of engineering project construction, the balanced allocation of resources has an important impact on the purchase of actual materials, the progress of the site construction and the arrangement of temporary facilities. Although there have been many studies on the use of evolutionary computation (EC) to solve the fixed duration of the resource-leveling problem, the optimization effect of standard EC to solve the resource-balancing problem in large-scale network design planning is reduced due to the phenomenon of premature convergence of PSO and the complexity of large-scale network planning. Therefore, in this paper, an adaptive dissipative particle swarm optimization (ADPSO) algorithm is used to solve the resource balancing optimization problem for different network-plans scales, and the feasibility of the developed model is verified using four different scaled network plans (databases). At the same time, a solution to the dynamic resource-leveling problem with optimization for a fixed duration is proposed. The results show that the proposed models are suitable for solving the problem of resource-leveling with a fixed duration of optimization of different scale network plans, and their accuracy and stability are significantly improved compared to the state-of-the-art approaches. Moreover, the proposed models are accurate and suitable for combining the calculation method of network planning time parameters with the ADPSO algorithm to realize dynamic resource balancing optimization. © 2022, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Oral cancer remains a critical global health challenge, characterized by high morbidity and mortality due to late-stage diagnosis. This paper addresses the need for improved diagnostic accuracy by introducing a novel hybrid-attention aided deep learning model for oral cancer classification. Our approach integrates the EfficientNetB0 model for feature extraction with a customized hybrid attention module, combining self, spatial, and soft attention mechanisms to emphasize crucial features. The model has been trained and evaluated on both microscopic and macroscopic oral cancer datasets, demonstrating its generalizability. Our proposed model achieves an accuracy of 96.97% on a macroscopic dataset and 92% on a microscopic dataset, with respective F1-scores of 0.97 and 0.89, outperforming baseline models. This hybrid attention-aided deep learning model shows significant potential in improving early detection and treatment planning of oral cancer. This research introduces a new method, Fractional Order Sliding Mode control (FOSMC), to manage leg exoskele-tons during gait rehabilitation. This innovative algorithm utilizes fractional calculus principles to precisely regulate the joints of the exoskeleton. By integrating fractional order dynamics, the controller effectively handles the complexities and uncertainties inherent in human walking patterns. This leads to more precise tracking, lower energy usage, and increased comfort for patients during rehabilitation. Additionally, the application of Lyapunov theory ensures the stability of the system. The effectiveness of this control method is assessed through simulation examples in the study. © 2024 IEEE.

In response to the increasing demand for precise sports analytics, this study investigates advanced computer vision techniques in the context of tennis player performance analysis. In particular, we explore cutting-edge deep learning models for 3D Human Pose Estimation (HPE) to analyze player movements during strokes. Despite the prevalence of such techniques in other sports, solutions for tennis remain scarce. Our research addresses this gap by examining two deep learning HPE models adapted for this purpose. We conduct rigorous experimentation on a purposely crafted dataset, with the objective of comparing these models against an existing approach for 3D HPE inference in the tennis context. Our findings highlight the potential of HPE in enhancing movement analysis and player coaching, providing valuable insights for future applications in tennis and other sports.

While automotive vendors prioritize safety, there remains a critical need for comprehensive assessment and analysis of cyber risks. In this context, this paper proposes a Social Media Automotive Threat Intelligence (SOCMATI) framework, specifically designed for the emerging field of automotive cybersecurity. The framework leverages advanced intelligence techniques and machine learning models to extract valuable insights from social media. This work concerns the implementation of hybrid consensus control for nonholonomic multi-robot systems. It is shown how it is possible to attain a consensus behaviour in a multi-agent system having internal communications characterized by sampling. Furthermore, it is shown how it is possible to make the multi-agent system reach a formation with desired position and orientation by adding a virtual agent within the system. A simulation study supports and validates the theoretical results.

Highly reliable and flexible control is required for distributed generation(DG) to efficiently connect to the *** inverters play a key role in the control and integration of DG into the power grid and provide advanced functionalities. In this paper, an energy-based single-phase voltage-source smart inverter(SPV-SSI) of 5 k VA is designed and analyzed in detail. SPV-SSI is capable of supplying the power to local load and the utility load up to the rated capacity of the inverter, injecting the power into the grid, storing the energy in lead-acid battery bank, controlling the voltage at the point of common coupling(PCC) during voltage sags or faults, and making decisions on real-time pricing information obtained from the utility grid through advanced metering. The complete design of smart inverter in dq frame, bi-directional DC-DC buck-boost converter, IEEE standard 1547 based islanding and recloser, and static synchronous compensator(STATCOM) functionalities is presented in this paper. Moreover, adaptive controllers, i. e., fuzzy proportional-integral(F-PI) controller and fuzzy-sliding mode controller(F-SMC) are designed. The performances of F-PI controller and F-SMC are superior, stable, and robust compared with those of conventionally tuned PI controllers for voltage control loop(islanded mode) and current control loop(grid-connected mode).

In this paper, we present a Risk-Aware Nonlinear Reduced-Order Model Predictive control framework that utilizes real-time state estimation, reduced-order modeling, and optimization for reliable and efficient path planning with low energy consumption. Our method employs filtering techniques to estimate the system's state by correcting for process and measurement noise, providing an accurate representation of the vehicle's position and environment. A reduced-order model predicts future states based on the estimated input, while the optimizer adjusts control inputs to meet trajectory and safety constraints, such as avoiding obstacles. By incorporating adapted filtering techniques and optimized cost functions, our approach minimizes computational overhead while maintaining precise control over vehicle navigation. In the experiments, we introduce communication and process noises, allowing the robot to operate without knowing the precise location of obstacles and resulting in potential near-collisions. This involves redefining the constrained optimal control problem for a reduced-order model, addressing input constraints amidst uncertainties. Our method achieves over 94% success in collision-free navigation within the first 50 steps, while maintaining precise trajectory alignment and adapting to environmental changes. It also improves prediction speed up to 15% per cycle compared to NMPC and demonstrates 91% overall effectiveness in avoiding collisions and reaching the target. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

With the increasing number of IoT devices, there is a growing need for bandwidth to support their communication. Unfortunately, there is a shortage of available bandwidth due to preallocated bands for various services. To address this issue, Cognitive Internet of Things (CR-IoT) enables devices to optimize their efficiency and enhance their communication capabilities by intelligently accessing available bandwidth. This is achieved through the use of soft sensing metrics, where devices continuously monitor the RF environment and transmit data opportunistically in overlay mode if a free channel is detected, or in underlay mode if not. In this paper, a soft sensing metric based hybrid transmission framework is proposed for CR-IoT devices to meet the data rate requirement for the smart city applications. The efficacy of this approach is demonstrated through simulation results. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.

Blockchain technology for shared electric vehicle (EV) charging makes use of a distributed ledger in handling different transactions which promotes authenticity in charging. However, this technology can be non-scalable at times which slows down the transaction rates as the scale increases in an organization and may also demand high computational as well as energy requirements which increases the inefficiency of the total system, the operating expenses of EV charging station, costs of energy utilized for charging, cost of maintenance and cost of station infrastructure may prove to be a weakness, impacting the feasibility of infrastructure deployment and upkeep expenses of the charging stations. To overcome these drawbacks, this paper proposes a hybrid method for blockchain technology with shared EV charging. The proposed approach combines the use of the Red Panda Optimization (RPO) with Similarity-Navigated Graph Neural Network (SNGNN). Hence, it is named as hybrid RPO-SNGNN approach. Reducing the operating cost of EV charging position and maximizes the security efficiency is the main aim of the proposed approach. To optimize scheduling and resource allocation by finding efficient paths by RPO and predict future demand and user behaviour patterns by SNGNN. By then, the proposed model has been put into practice on the MATLAB work platform and contrasted with other existing methods. The proposed technique outperforms all existing techniques, including Fuzzy-based Cross Hierarchical Reinforcement Q Learning (FCHRQL), Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-Long Short-Term Memory Network (NSGA-II-LSTMN), and Ant Colony Optimization-Proximal Policy Optimization (ACO-PPO). The proposed method shows the operating cost of $550 and the security rate is 97%. From the result, the proposed approach operating cost is low and the security rate is high when compared to the existing approaches. © 2024 IEEE.
