This study proposes a simple classification method for drivers based on their driving confidence and authority using feedback from steering wheel angle and traction motor current measurement data. Data is collected from 38 drivers on a prototype electric vehicle. For the classification process, the driving performance of each driver is assessed with respect to an expert driver. The data is time-stamped and geo-referenced. The experimental driving data is comprised of the two command inputs that the driver generates to regulate handling and lane-level tracking. Deviations from the expert's performance data are considered to be a measure of potential failure of the driver's confidence and authority leading to a possible accident. The dataset of the participating drivers is processed by extracting the mean, standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis values. Extracted features are evaluated with different classification methods, including KNN.

An overview of the ancillary services in the Nigerian power sector is provided in this work. These services are essential in the power system because they are additional services required by the grid during critical times to enable the power grid to operate in a stable, safe, and reliable manner. The ancillary services provided as stipulated in the Grid Code are black start, frequency control, operating reserves, and voltage control. The System Operator procures the relevant ancillary service depending on the requirement of the grid at a particular time. The paper further presents some ways of improving the viability of ancillary services for the energy grid of Nigeria. These include making incentives more attractive for suppliers of ancillary services, utilizing more hydroelectric power plants for generation and load balancing, integrating distributed generation to provide support to the reactive power, and making necessary investments in the grid.

Experiment on scalable multi-user twin-field quantum key distribution network

Twin-field quantum key distribution (TFQKD) systems have shown great promise for implementing practical long-distance secure quantum communication due to its measurement-device-independent nature and its ability to offer fundamentally superior rate-loss scaling than point-to-point QKD systems. A surge of research and development effort in the last two years has produced many variants of protocols and experimental demonstrations. In terms of hardware topology, TFQKD systems interfering quantum signals from two remotely phase-locked laser sources are in essence giant Mach-Zehnder interferometers (MZIs) requiring active phase stabilization. Such configurations are inherently unsuitable for a TFQKD network, where more than one user-pair share the common quantum measurement station, because it is practically extremely difficult, if not impossible, to stabilize MZIs of largely disparate path lengths, a situation that is inevitable in a multi-user-pair TFQKD network. On the other hand, Sagnac interferometer based TFQKD systems exploiting the inherent phase stability of the Sagnac ring can implement asymmetric TFQKD, and are therefore eminently suitable for implementing a TFQKD network. In this work, we experimentally demonstrate a proof-of-principle multi-user-pair Sagnac TFQKD network where three user pairs sharing the same measurement station can perform pair-wise TFQKD through time multiplexing, with channel losses up to 58 dB, and channel loss asymmetry up to 15 dB. In some cases, the secure key rates still beat the rate-loss bounds for point-to-point repeaterless QKD systems, even in this network configuration. It is to our knowledge the first multi-user-pair TFQKD network demonstration, an important step in advancing quantum communication network technologies. © 2021, CC BY-NC-SA.

Fault-tolerant control is currently the most important step towards increased autonomy for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). In this work, we consider actuator and airframe faults in fixed-wing UAVs and show that an online Flight Envelope (FE) calculation can interpret their effect on the achievable trim trajectories. Subsequently, we design a fully integrated control scheme with a RRT-based planner and 3 Nonlinear Model Predictive control (MPC) layers. The FE is provided at each control layer with the beneficial result that non-trimmable, unstable trajectories are avoided. Results from high-fidelity simulations are provided.

The precise and accurate measurement of flow rate in the batch flow of the solid particles is of primary importance in many process industries for the improvement of the efficiency of the system. Many techniques developed for the measurement of mass flow rate. The capacitive sensors has a significance of being non-invasive, higher accuracy and low cost for mass flow measurement despite the fact that many factors adversely affect the performance- including non-uniform flow, multiphase flow, temperature, pressure, and moisture in the solid particles. This paper covers preliminary investigations of the offline estimation of mass flow concentration based upon the calibration of capacitance electrodes to quantify the mass of dielectric as a function of capacitance variation between the electrodes. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. The Electrical engineering undergraduate program of the Escola Politécnica of the Universidade de São Paulo has created an alternative innovative curriculum path for its freshmen students in 2024. The Competency-based Path emphasizes the development of competencies and skills for the unprecedented technological advancements that necessitate a holistic education for future electrical engineers, preparing them with practical skills for real-world challenges. The program was designed using an innovative methodology and centers around semester-long or year-long integrative projects. These projects bridge the gap between theory and practice, as students deal with real-world challenges while fostering social responsibility.

A cybersecurity problem for a multi-agent consensus problem is investigated through a dynamic game formulation. Specifically, we consider a game repeatedly played between a jamming attacker and a defender. The attacker attempts to jam the links between a number of agents to delay their consensus. On the other hand, the defender tries to maintain the connection between agents by attempting to recover some of the jammed links with the goal of achieving faster consensus. In each game, the players decide which links to attack/recover and for how long to continue doing so based on a Lyapunov-like function representing the largest difference between the states of the agents. We analyze the subgame perfect equilibrium of the game and obtain an upper bound of the consensus time that is influenced by the strategies of the players. The results are illustrated with a numerical example.

Learning from data of past tasks can substantially improve the accuracy of mechatronic systems. Often, for fast and safe learning a model of the system is required. The aim of this paper is to develop a model-free approach for fast and safe learning for mechatronic systems. The developed actor-critic iterative learning control (ACILC) framework uses a feedforward parameterization with basis functions. These basis functions encode implicit model knowledge and the actor-critic algorithm learns the feedforward parameters without explicitly using a model. Experimental results on a printer setup demonstrate that the developed ACILC framework is capable of achieving the same feedforward signal as preexisting model-based methods without using explicit model knowledge. In recently, all the developers, programmer and software engineers, they are working specially on software component and software testing to compete the software technology in the world. For this competition, they are using different kind of sources to analysis the software reliability and importance. Nowadays Data mining is one of source, which is used in software for overcome the problem of software fault which occur during the software test and its analysis. This kind of problem leads software deformity prophecy in software. In this research paper, we are also trying to overcome the software deformity prophecy problem with the help of our proposed solution called ONER rule attribute. We have used REPOSITORY datasets models, these datasets models are defected and non-defected datasets models. Our analysis class of interest is defected models. In our research, we have analyzed the efficiency of our proposed solution methods. The experiments results showed that using of ONER with discretize, have improved the efficiency of correctly classified instances in all. Using percentage split and training datasets with ONER discretize rule attribute have improved correctly classified in all datasets models. The analysis of positive accuracy f-measure is also increased in percentage split during the use of ONER with discretize but in some datasets models, the training data and cross validation is better with use of ONER rule attribute. The area under curve (ROC) in both scenarios using ONER rule attribute and discretize with ONER rule attribute is almost same or equal with each other.
