This paper presents a platform built to demonstrate the functionality of a trajectory planning algorithm intended for optimal sampling of spatial phenomena. The installation of this algorithm on a rover is the first step in a series of integration instances with various autonomous vehicles. The platform, consisting of a mobile unit (a skid-steer rover equipped with an autopilot module, onboard computer, radio frequency (RF) sensing unit, and a GPS/Magnetometer sensor) and static RF transmission modules frequently emitting empty packets, simulates expected implementation on larger-scale systems. Using the "Received Signal Strength Indication" (RSSI) from the broadcast packets received by the mobile platform from the arbitrarily placed static RF transmitters, a software recreation of the data field takes place, and a global maximum is sought by the trajectory planning algorithm to go towards during the course of traversal. Recreation of the rover’s traversal demonstrates the tendency of the trajectories towards the global maximum in an efficient manner. © 2016, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. The characterization of the closed-loop delays in a wide-area control system (WACS) is an important foundation for further research. The method to estimate and measure the closed-loop delay in actual WACSs were proposed in this paper. Then, the closed-loop delays in the actual WACS in Guizhou Power Grid in China were measured and analyzed. Also, the measured delays were used to verify the normal distribution estimation model proposed in previous research. The results indicate that the closed-loop delay in the WACS followed a normal distribution.

In this paper an improved method is proposed to convert multi-variable dependent time-varying systems into a polytopic representation with uncertain parameters for further stability *** on the Taylor expansion,the employed technique utilizes a specific arrangement of the cross-variable terms such that the obtained vertices of the polytopic system increases only polynomially with the order of the Taylor *** example about stability analysis demonstrates the effectiveness and usefulness of the proposed method in robust stability studies.

In this paper, a new robust finite-time hyperchaotic secure communication scheme is proposed by combining robust finite-time synchronization of two hyperchaotic systems and hyperchaotic multiplication masking technique. The mentioned synchronization is achieved by introducing new terminal sliding mode controllers. As a main novelty of the introduced scheme, an adjustable total finite time is obtained such that the decrypted message signal will be completely identical with the transmitted message signal for times larger than the discussed finite time. Compared with other secure communication schemes, the suggested method has several advantages including finite-time stability for dynamical system of synchronization errors, high security, easy physical implementation, and robustness against uncertainties. Finally, a numerical simulation is provided to verify the effectiveness of the suggested scheme.

Norm optimal iterative learning control(NOILC) has recently been applied to iterative learning control(ILC) problems in which tracking is only required at a subset of isolated time points along the trial duration. This problem addresses the practical needs of many applications, including industrial automation, crane control, satellite positioning and motion control within a medical stroke rehabilitation context. This paper provides a substantial generalization of this framework by providing a solution to the problem of convergence at intermediate points with simultaneous tracking of subsets of outputs to reference trajectories on subintervals. This formulation enables the NOILC paradigm to tackle tasks which mix "point to point" movements with linear tracking requirements and hence substantially broadens the application domain to include automation tasks which include welding or cutting movements, or human motion control where the movement is restricted by the task to straight line and/or planar segments. A solution to the problem is presented in the framework of NOILC and inherits NOILC s well-defined convergence properties. Design guidelines and supporting experimental results are included.

Humans have various complex postures and movements. Considerable attention is given to the problem of recognizing a human fall. However, the recognition rates must be further improved, for practical applications, from that obtained in the previous research. In this paper, a new recognition method, based on the analysis of a human fall, is provided. Furthermore, five eigenvectors that describe a fall are defined i.e. the aspect ratio, effective area ratio, human point margin, body axis angle, and centrifugal rate of the body contour. Then, a support vector machine based on the Gauss radial basis function is trained to obtain a better identification result. The simulation results show that the model, though the combination of the five eigenvectors, has a recognition rate of 94.5%, which is a significant improvement as compared to the previous research.

Travelers＇ route choice behavior, a dynamical learning process based on their own experience, traffic information, and influence of others, is a type of cooperation optimization and a constant day-to-day evolutionary process. Travelers adjust their route choices to choose the best route, minimizing travel time and distance, or maximizing expressway use. Because route choice behavior is based on human beings, the most intelligent animals in the world, this swarm behavior is expected to in- corporate more intelligence. Unlike existing research in route choice behavior, the influence of other travelers is considered for updating route choices on account of the reality, which makes the route choice behavior from individual to swarm. Anew swarm intelligence algorithm inspired by travelers＇ route choice behavior for solving mathematical optimization problems is introduced in this paper. A comparison of the results of experiments with those of the classical global Particle Swarm Optimization （PSO） algorithm demonstrates the efficacy of the Route Choice Behavior Algorithm （RCBA）. The novel algorithm provides a new approach to solving complex problems and new avenues for the study of route choice behavior.

This paper presents a novel simultaneous iterative learning control and dynamic modeling (SILCDM) approach. For a class of unknown and repeatable nonlinear discrete-time systems, a model-free iterative learning control (ILC) method is applied first. Meanwhile, by using the data generated during the repetitive operations, a novel iterative learning parameter estimation algorithm is proposed to calibrate the unknown time-varying parameter in the nonlinear system with known structure simultaneously. After the model parameter is well identified, the accurate dynamic model of the controlled plant is obtained. With this identified model, the model-free ILC method is then switched to a model-based optimal ILC method in order to get much better control performance. The theoretical analysis shows that the proposed pproach guarantees the convergence of both the system state and the parameter identification. The effectiveness of the SILCDM is further demonstrated through simulations. © 2015

Background Diarrhoeal diseases claim more than 1 million lives annually and are a leading cause of death in children younger than 5 years. Comprehensive global estimates of the diarrhoeal disease burden for specific age groups of children younger than 5 years are scarce, and the burden in children older than 5 years and in adults is also understudied. We used results from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to assess the burden of, and trends in, diarrhoeal diseases overall and attributable to 13 pathogens, as well as the contributions of associated risk factors, in children and adults in 204 countries and territories from 1990 to 2021. Methods We used the Cause of Death Ensemble modelling strategy to analyse vital registration data, verbal autopsy data, mortality surveillance data, and minimally invasive tissue sampling data. We used DisMod-MR (version 2.1), a Bayesian meta-regression tool, to analyse incidence and prevalence data identified via systematic reviews, population-based surveys, and claims and inpatient data. We calculated diarrhoeal disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) as the sum of years of life lost (YLLs) and years lived with disability (YLDs) for each location, year, and age-sex group. For aetiology estimation, we used a counterfactual approach to quantify population-attributable fractions (PAFs). Additionally, we estimated the diarrhoeal disease burden attributable to the independent effects of risk factors using the comparative risk assessment framework. Findings In 2021, diarrhoeal diseases caused an estimated 1.17 million (95% uncertainty interval 0.793-1.62) deaths globally, representing a 60.3% (50.6-69.0) decrease since 1990 (2.93 million [2.31-3.73] deaths). The most pronounced decline was in children younger than 5 years, with a 79.2% (72.4-84.6) decrease in diarrhoeal deaths. It's always difficult to satisfy both strict requirements of dynamic performance and settling performance of high-precision and high-acceleration point-to-point motions on electronic packaging equipment, i.e., Die bonders, Wire bonders, Flip-chip bonders, Wafer bumping machines, and so on. Focusing on this difficulty, Fuzzy logic is promoted in this paper to fine tune feed forward coefficient parameters of motion systems on packaging equipment to satisfy multiple targets of dynamic and settling performance requirements. This intelligent fine tuning approach, with achievable multiple motion targets, provides a therapy to automate and optimize motion system performance on packaging equipment, help on development and mass production of semiconductor packaging equipment, and improve machine intelligence.
