Current control of IPMSM servo system is investigated in this paper. Under the field-weakening control framework, nonlinear couplings of the voltage equations are very strong. The current control performance may not be well until such nonlinear couplings are well dealed. In this case, a DOB-based model predictive control is proposed to improve the current control performance under field-weakening control framework. The proposed control method consists of a forecasted model based on disturbance observer, feedback correction for model mismatch rejection, and receding optimization for an optimized control input. Numerical simulations demonstrate that proposed method achieves nonlinear coupling attenuation ability and well promising field-weakening control performance.

For decades iris recognition has been widely studied by the scientific community due to its almost unique and stable patterns. Iris recognition biometric systems apply mathematical pattern-recognition techniques to an iris' image of an individual's eye to extract its feature vector. Comparing the dissimilarities from two feature vectors with an acceptance threshold, the system decides if the two vectors are from the same individual's eye. If applied in a well-controlled environment, iris recognition can achieve outstanding accuracies, however, to accomplish that in non-controlled environments is still a challenge researchers are constantly trying to compensate open issues in this context. In order to better explore the patterns found in the iris, researchers have recently begun using a classification approach using multiple signatures, hoping to improve the algorithm robustness. This work aims to explore the effectiveness and scalability of using multiple signatures with a 2-D Gabor filter in a biometric verification system through iris recognition. This is done using two independent Genetic Algorithms to search for the best parameters to the feature extraction technique and on the acceptance frontier search. The method was evaluated by analyzing the behavior of the Half Total Error Rate (HTER) when the number of partitions varies. The experiments showed that the best result was found with 12 partitions on the iris, reaching 0.21% of HTER.

In this paper we explore detection and tracking of astral microtubules, a sub-population of microtubules which only exists during and immediately before mitosis and aids in the spindle orientation by connecting it to the cell cortex. Its analysis can be useful to determine the presence of certain diseases, such as brain pathologies and cancer. The proposed algorithm focuses on overcoming the problems regarding fluorescence microscopy images and microtubule behaviour by using various image processing techniques and is then compared with three existing algorithms, tested on consistent sets of images. With the rapid development of semiconductor in- dustry, the number of cores integrated on chip increases quickly, which brings tough challenges such as bandwidth, scalability and power into on-chip interconnection. Under such background, Network-on-Chip （NoC） is proposed and gradually replacing the traditional on-chip interconnections such as sharing bus and crossbar. For the convenience of physical layout, mesh is the most used topology in NoC design. Routing algorithm, which decides the paths of pack- ets, has significant impact on the latency and throughput of network. Thus routing algorithm plays a vital role in a wellperformed network. This study mainly ：focuses on the routing algorithms of mesh NoC. By whether taking network information into consideration in routing decision, routing algorithms of NoC can be roughly classified into oblivious routing and adaptive routing. Oblivious routing costs less without adaptiveness while adaptive routing is on the contrary. To combine the advantages of oblivious and adaptive routing algorithm, half-adaptive algorithms were proposed. In this paper, the concepts, taxonomy and features of routing algorithms of NoC are introduced. Then the importance of routing algorithms in mesh NoC is highlighted, and representative routing algorithms with respective features are reviewed and summarized. Finally, we try to shed light upon the future work of NoC routing algorithms.

This paper describes application of a nonlinear model predictive control algorithm to the problem of dynamic reconfiguration of an electrical power distribution system with distributed generation and storage. Power distribution systems usually operate in a radial topology despite being physically built as interconnected meshed networks. The meshed structure of the network allows one to modify the network topology by changing status of the line switches (open/closed). The goal of the control algorithm is to find the optimal radial network topology and the optimal power references for the controllable generators and energy storage units that will minimize cumulative active power losses while satisfying all system constraints. Validation of the developed algorithm is conducted on a case study of a real-life distribution grid in Croatia. The realistic simulations show that large loss reductions are feasible (more than 13%), i.e. that the developed control algorithm can contribute to significant savings for the grid operator. © 2017

The aim of this study is to examine the robust control design based on coefficient diagram method with backstepping control combined with an observer for position control of the flexible joint manipulator. A simulation model with stability analysis was established where the parameters of the observer-controller are tuned by means of particle swarm optimization. Through this study, it was found that the proposed control scheme is effective, and the results indicate that ours approach ensures the asymptotic convergence of the actual joints positions to theirs desired trajectory, and robustness where the system is subjected to external disturbance and parameters uncertainties. © 2017 Lavoisier

Most recently, tensor-SVD is implemented on multi-view self-representation clustering and has achieved the promising results in many real-world applications such as face clustering, scene clustering and generic object clustering. However, tensor-SVD based multi-view self-representation clustering is proposed originally to solve the clustering problem in the multiple linear subspaces, leading to unsatisfactory results when dealing with the case of non-linear subspaces. To handle data clustering from the non-linear subspaces, a kernelization method is designed by mapping the data from the original input space to a new feature space in which the transformed data can be clustered by a multiple linear clustering method. In this paper, we make an optimization model for the kernelized multi-view self-representation clustering problem. We also develop a new efficient algorithm based on the alternation direction method and infer a closed-form solution. Since all the subproblems can be solved exactly, the proposed optimization algorithm is guaranteed to obtain the optimal solution. In particular, the original tensor-based multi-view self-representation clustering problem is a special case of our approach and can be solved by our algorithm. Experimental results on several popular real-world clustering datasets demonstrate that our approach achieves the state-of-The-Art performance. Copyright © 2017, The Authors. All rights reserved.

This paper summarizes the characteristics of the electricity load data collected every 15 minutes of power users. The single-day load data of single power user is taken as a 96-length vector, and the single-day data of n users is taken as a 96-column set. Single-user monthly data and annual data are described as a 30 (31) × 96 matrix and a 365 (366) × 96 matrix respectively. By comparing the wavelet transforms of multiple wavelet basis functions, the Daubechies 4 wavelet basis function is chosen as the wavelet transform basis function of the electricity load data according to the Shannon entropy of the obtained wavelet coefficients. The difference between the inverse wavelet transformed data and the original data is compared under various characteristic wavelet coefficients. Besides, the number of the characteristic wavelet coefficients and the error of the wavelet transform are determined. The results show that there is a high redundancy in the original power load data, and the storage space can be greatly compressed by wavelet transform to achieve feature extraction and data desensitization. Therefore, the feature extraction technology of power load data based on wavelet transform in this paper has potential application value and popularization value, and can produce high economic efficiency.

A Software-Defined Network (SDN) architecture was proposed to enhance the performance, flexibility and scalability of networks. However, SDN features such as centralized controlling, network programmability and virtualization present new security challenges to networks. This article will address security challenges related to SDN connection data transfer channels (i.e., control layer and infrastructure layer) and propose a novel connection data transfer channels architecture based on an OpenFlow protocol. Existing SDN OpenFlow protocols rely on higher layer secure mechanisms such as TLS (Transport Layer Security) / SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) sessions. It is concluded that the transfer of secured data using elliptical curve encryption provides a more efficient SDN network. The proposed architecture was implemented in a testbed and its security features were analyzed.

The increasing number of collisions at intersections calls for a reliable and safe, real time collision warning system that can alert the drivers about a potential collision. Although many kinds of collision warning systems are available, the problems related to acceleration change and curved road scenarios are to be considered to improve the accuracy of the system. In the proposed paper, an efficient intersection collision avoidance system for straight and curved roads are considered. The objective of the project is to predict the location of the vehicle 10 seconds in future. The location, speed and heading information of a vehicle are available through a GPS device. Accelerometer provides the acceleration/deceleration information of the vehicles. Kalman filter with GPS and accelerometer as inputs can be used to predict the future location of the vehicle. These predicted locations are checked to be on the road or not using GIS map. If off road, the locations are projected onto the road with the help of the coordinate data. A warning message in the form of alarms or lights are generated when the distance between the predicted locations of the host vehicle and target vehicle falls below a threshold value. Position information are exchanged between the vehicles using Dedicated Short Range Communication. The MATLAB simulation results validate our proposed system by reducing the prediction error with the combination of GIS and kalman filter. False alarms are reduced considerably in the proposed system for collision avoidance. © 2016 IEEE.
