This paper presents a distributed load shedding strategy for islanded active distribution power system, where the average consensus algorithm acts as a key tool to discover the required global information for load shedding. For privacy concerns, we propose a new differentially private average consensus algorithm, where a distributed shuffling mechanism based on the Pailler cryptosystem is established to initialize the initial states for the subsequent stage of running standard average consensus. For the proposed algorithm, both rigorous provable differential privacy and accuracy guarantee are established, with an improved privacy/accuracy trade-off than the existing relevant frameworks. Particularly, it is shown that given any expected differential privacy levels, the achievable mean-square computation error is inversely proportional to the network size, in contrast with the optimal error achieved in the literature that is independent of the network size. A numerical example and an application to the distributed load shedding for an IEEE 33-bus power system are used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Mechatronic systems have increasingly high performance requirements for motion control. The low-frequency contribution of the flexible dynamics, i.e. the compliance, should be compensated for by means of snap feedforward to achieve high accuracy. Position-dependent compliance, which often occurs in motion systems, requires the snap feedforward parameter to be modeled as a function of position. Position-dependent compliance is compensated for by using a Gaussian process to model the snap feedforward parameter as a continuous function of position. A simulation of a flexible beam shows that a significant performance increase is achieved when using the Gaussian process snap feedforward parameter to compensate for position-dependent compliance. © 2022, CC BY.

This paper is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in fault tolerance methods for cloud computing. Maintaining high availability and reliability of cloud environments requires fault tolerance. This paper explores fault tolerance in the context of cloud computing and discusses recent challenges and innovations in the field. Moreover, it examines the ongoing research efforts to improve fault-tolerance architectures. At the end of the paper, the paper presents system-level metrics that are relevant to fault tolerance.

Metaverse is the next generation and the successor to the Internet. Various sectors allocated capital to adapt the metaverse due to its inherent importance. Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems (C-ITS) is one of the important sectors that can benefit from metaverse adaptation and integration. The C-ITS and metaverse integration give rise to new use cases and cyber attacks. However, traditional Pseudonym Certificate (PCert) authentication based on Vehicular Public Key Infrastructure (VPKI) cannot meet the new use cases and thwart cyber attacks. We present a Differential Privacy (DP)-based PCert and avatar update model to ensure the privacy of end-devices (e.g., vehicles) in the C-ITS metaverse. The proposed DP-based model adds noise to avatar attributes (e.g., color, behavior) to prevent avatar linkage during the PCert update process. Our method ensures that PCerts and avatars cannot be linked to end-devices and the previous PCerts and avatars. We simulate the DP-based method to investigate it in terms of privacy, latency, color distortion, and adversarial success rate, and the results show that DP-based is effective and practical for avatar updates. © 2024 IEEE.

In this work we present an improved method for collision detection that extends the ability of collaborative systems to share the workspace between the operator and the robot. Our work is based on the state-of-the-art GPU-Voxels algorithm, with a dynamic swept volume method for collision detection that minimizes intervention in robot trajectories. We propose a sensor calibration method that allows multiple cameras to be placed around the robot to ensure coverage without shadows. In addition, we show how our previous work on advanced force control algorithms, which in combination with the collision detection algorithm presented, meets all safety requirements of the technical specification ISO/TS 15066. Our ultimate goal is to derive a framework for collaborative industrial manipulators, which are able to work side by side with people.

To investigate the difference in uptake pattern heterogeneity between fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) and fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI) PET/CT and the reproducibility of radiomics features with respect to different calculation methods of standardized uptake value (SUV). 210 patients with various tumors were involved. Among the extracted 497 radiomics features, there are only 20 features that exhibited an ICC difference of more than 0.25 between the two tracers when using different SUV calculation methods, revealing the similar influence of SUV calculation methods. In contrast, the ICC values for most texture features were generally lower (0.22-0.39) between FDG and FAPI PET images, indicating a large difference in uptake pattern heterogeneity between the two tracers. Our results demonstrated that the influence of SUV calculation methods on the reproducibility of FDG and FAPI PET features is similar. The uptake pattern heterogeneity characterized by radiomics features between FDG and FAPI PET images is significantly different.

Label Cluster Chains for Multi-Label Classification

Multi-label classification is a type of supervised machine learning that can simultaneously assign multiple labels to an instance. To solve this task, some methods divide the original problem into several sub-problems (local approach), others learn all labels at once (global approach), and others combine several classifiers (ensemble approach). Regardless of the approach used, exploring and learning label correlations is important to improve the classifier predictions. Ensemble of Classifier Chains (ECC) is a well-known multi-label method that considers label correlations and can achieve good overall performance on several multi-label datasets and evaluation measures. However, one of the challenges when working with ECC is the high dimensionality of the label space, which can impose limitations for fully-cascaded chains as the complexity increases regarding feature space expansion. To improve classifier chains, we propose a method to chain disjoint correlated label clusters obtained by applying a partition method in the label space. During the training phase, the ground truth labels of each cluster are used as new features for all of the following clusters. During the test phase, the predicted labels of clusters are used as new features for all the following clusters. Our proposal, called Label Cluster Chains for Multi-Label Classification (LCC-ML), uses multi-label Random Forests as base classifiers in each cluster, combining their predictions to obtain a final multi-label classification. Our proposal obtained better results compared to the original ECC. To reduce the implementation complexity and excessive overhead caused by remote attestation,we propose a new remote attestation scheme based on trusted level measurement considering the limited system resources of the Intelligent electronic devices(IEDs) in smart grid. In this scheme, a lightweight trusted level measurement mechanism is designed, and a new dynamic weighted multi-classifier integration method based on Binary tree Support vector machine(BT-SVM) is proposed. The trusted level of configuration information and running state of an IED are measured through trusted third party. The measurement parameters and attestation period are dynamically adjusted according to different trusted levels of an IED, so that reducing computational overhead and communication delays in remote attestation process. Analysis and experiments show that the proposed scheme can enhance the security of IEDs in smart grid by occupying a small amount of computation and communication resources.

The active simultaneously transmitting and reflecting surface (STARS) has been proposed as a complement of passive STARS (PSTARS) to inhibit the double path-loss. This paper applies the active STARS (ASTARS) to aid in non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) covert communications over cascaded rice fading channels, where two wardens are located on the opposite sides of ASTARS to monitor the transmission information. More specifically, we derive approximate expressions for detection error probability of two wardens. The optimal detection threshold and minimum detection error probability are presented in the worst covert scenarios. The covert transmission rate expressions for a coupe of covert users are further deduced by taking into account imperfect/perfect successive interference cancellation. The experimental simulation results are presented to confirm that: 1) The detection error probability of ASTARS-NOMA networks is superior to that of ASTARS assisted-orthogonal multiple access (ASTARS-OMA) and PSTARS aided NOMA networks;2) As the number of active elements increases, the covert transmission rates of ASTARS-NOMA networks become larger relative to ASTARS-OMA;and 3) ASTARS-NOMA has ability to provide the enhanced system throughput in delay-tolerant transmission mode. © 2025 IEEE.
