In this paper, we describe a novel method for constructing probabilistic robust disturbance rejection control for systems contain uncertain data in which a scenario optimization method is used to deal with the nonlinear and unbounded uncertainties. For anti-disturbance, a reduced order disturbance observer is considered and a state-feedback controller is designed. Sufficient conditions are presented to ensure that the resulting closed-loop system is stable and a prescribed H performance index is satisfied. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the techniques proposed and analyzed. © 2020 Association for computing Machinery.

Passive acoustic monitoring is emerging as a promising solution to the urgent, global need for new biodiversity assessment methods. The ecological relevance of the soundscape is increasingly recognised, and the affordability of robust hardware for remote audio recording is stimulating international interest in the potential for acoustic methods for biodiversity *** scale of the data involved requires automated methods,however, the development of acoustic sensor networks capable of sampling the soundscape across time and space and relaying the data to an accessible storage location remains a significant technical challenge, with power management at its core. Recording and transmitting large quantities of audio data is power intensive,hampering long-term deployment in remote, off-grid locations of key ecological interest. Rather than transmitting heavy audio data, in this paper, we propose a low-cost and energy efficient wireless acoustic sensor network integrated with edge computing structure for remote acoustic monitoring and in situ *** and computation of acoustic indices are carried out directly on edge devices built from low noise primo condenser microphones and Teensy microcontrollers, using internal FFT hardware support. Resultant indices are transmitted over a ZigBee-based wireless mesh network to a destination *** tests of audio quality, indices computation and power consumption demonstrate acoustic equivalence and significant power savings over current solutions.

We employ the nuclear lattice effective field theory (NLEFT), an efficient tool for nuclear ab initio calculations, to solve the asymmetric multihadron systems. We take the DD*K three-body system as an illustration to demonstrate the capability of the method. Here the two-body chiral interactions between D, D*, and K are regulated with a soft lattice regulator and calibrated with the binding energies of the Tcc+, Ds0*(2317), and Ds1(2460) molecular states. We then calculate the three-body binding energy using the NLEFT and analyze the systematic uncertainties due to the finite volume effects, the sliding cutoff, and the leading-order three-body forces. Even when the three-body interaction is repulsive (even as large as the infinite repulsive interaction), the three-body system has a bound state unambiguously with binding energy no larger than the Ds1(2460)D threshold. To check the renormalization group invariance of our framework, we extract the first excited state. We find that when the ground state is fixed, the first excited states with various cutoffs coincide with each other when the cubic size goes larger. In addition, the standard angular momentum and parity projection technique is implemented for the quantum numbers of the ground and excited states. We find that both of them are S-wave states with quantum number JP=1−. Because the three-body state contains two charm quarks, it is easier to be detected in the Large Hadron Collider.

This paper deals with the problem of signals filtering using hybrid filters. Such solutions may prove to be especially beneficial in the context of biomedical signals filtering where the signals’ amplitudes are typically not very high and they can be easily affected by different kinds of disturbances. Having a number of different types of filters tuned for some specific purposes we will show how the best filter choice is affected by selecting one ML model over another.

Fingertip interactive tracking registration method for AR assembly system

Aiming at the problems of single input mode and lack of naturalness in the assembly process of existing AR systems, a tracking registration method of mobile AR assembly system is proposed based on multi-quantity and multi-degree of freedom natural fingertip interaction. Firstly, the real-time and stable tracking of hand area in complex environment is realized based on the hand region tracking; secondly, the fingertip detection and recognition based on K-COS and parallel vector is used to improve the precision and stability of fingertip recognition; thirdly, the special movement track of fingertip is recognized based on improved DTW algorithm, which has strong compatibility and feature gradient transformation for complex fingertip trajectory recognition; finally, through the real-time transformation of projection relationship between fingertip and virtual object, the interaction between fingertip and virtual object is made more natural and realistic. The experimental results show that in the complex environment of background, illumination, scale and rotation, the precision of fingertip detection and recognition is about 93%, and the precision of fingertip motion template matching is about 91%. The translation error of the registration method based on visual feature recognition is reduced by about 100pix compared with fingertip tracking registration method, and the efficiency of mobile AR-guided assembly method is improved by about 24.77% compared with the traditional manual assisted assembly method. These data verifies the strong interaction and practicability of the fingertips based on the user's multi-quantity and multi-degree of freedom features in the process of mobile AR guided assembly.

To further understand the underlying mechanism of various reinforcement learning (RL) algorithms and also to better use the optimization theory to make further progress in RL, many researchers begin to revisit the linear-quadratic regulator (LQR) problem, whose setting is simple and yet captures the characteristics of RL. Inspired by this, this work is concerned with the model-free design of stochastic LQR controller for linear systems subject to Gaussian noises, from the perspective of both RL and primal-dual optimization. From the RL perspective, we first develop a new model-free off-policy policy iteration (MF-OPPI) algorithm, in which the sampled data is repeatedly used for updating the policy to alleviate the data-hungry problem to some extent. We then provide a rigorous analysis for algorithm convergence by showing that the involved iterations are equivalent to the iterations in the classical policy iteration (PI) algorithm. From the perspective of optimization, we first reformulate the stochastic LQR problem at hand as a constrained non-convex optimization problem, which is shown to have strong duality. Then, to solve this non-convex optimization problem, we propose a model-based primal-dual (MBPD) algorithm based on the properties of the resulting Karush-Kuhn-Tucker (KKT) conditions. We also give a model-free implementation for the MB-PD algorithm by solving a transformed dual feasibility condition. More importantly, we show that the dual and primal update steps in the MB-PD algorithm can be interpreted as the policy evaluation and policy improvement steps in the PI algorithm, respectively. Towards practical and massively parallel quantum computing emulation for quantum chemistry

Quantum computing is moving beyond its early stage and seeking for commercial applications in chemical and biomedical sciences. In the current noisy intermediate-scale quantum computing era, quantum resource is too scarce to support these explorations. Therefore, it is valuable to emulate quantum computing on classical computers for developing quantum algorithms and validating quantum hardware. However, existing simulators mostly suffer from the memory bottleneck so developing the approaches for large-scale quantum chemistry calculations remains challenging. Here we demonstrate a high-performance and massively parallel variational quantum eigensolver (VQE) simulator based on matrix product states, combined with embedding theory for solving large-scale quantum computing emulation for quantum chemistry on HPC platforms. We apply this method to study the torsional barrier of ethane and the quantification of the protein-ligand interactions. Our largest simulation reaches 1000 qubits, and a performance of 216.9 PFLOPS is achieved on a new Sunway supercomputer, which sets the state-of-the-art for quantum computing emulation for quantum chemistry. © 2023, CC BY.

Real-time eyeblink detection in the wild can widely serve for fatigue detection, face anti-spoofing, emotion analysis, etc. The existing research efforts generally focus on single-person cases towards trimmed video. However, multi-person scenario within untrimmed videos is also important for practical applications, which has not been well concerned yet. To address this, we shed light on this research field for the first time with essential contributions on dataset, theory, and practices. In particular, a large-scale dataset termed MPEblink that involves 686 untrimmed videos with 8748 eyeblink events is proposed under multi-person conditions. The samples are captured from uncon-strainedfilms to reveal “in the wild“ characteristics. Meanwhile, a real-time multi-person eyeblink detection method is also proposed. Being different from the existing counter-parts, our proposition runs in a one-stage spatio-temporal way with end-to-end learning capacity. Specifically, it simultaneously addresses the sub-tasks of face detection, face tracking, and human instance-level eyeblink detection. This paradigm holds 2 main advantages: (1) eyeblink features can be facilitated via the face's global context (e.g., head pose and illumination condition) with joint optimization and interaction, and (2) addressing these sub-tasks in parallel instead of sequential manner can save time remarkably to meet the real-time running requirement. Experiments on MPEblink verify the essential challenges of real-time multi-person eyeblink detection in the wild for untrimmed video. Our method also outperforms existing approaches by large margins and with a high inference speed.

This paper focuses on solving the real-time timetable rescheduling problem for dispatching systems of high-speed railway systems (HSRs) in case of temporary speed restriction by utilizing the parallel intelligence method. We construct a parallel intelligent system framework, which combines the actual and artificial dispatching systems through computational experiments and parallel execution. Then a rescheduling model includes retiming, recording and rerouting, and a solution method based on rolling horizon optimization are both proposed. Finally, a timetable of Beijing-Shanghai HSR within the jurisdiction of the Beijing Railway Bureau based case study indicates that the proposed parallel intelligence method can effectively decrease the total delay.
