Coal and methane were burnt in the MILD-OCC combustion flame under different combustion conditions to study the temperature distribution and characteristics of soot volume fraction. In this experiment, the flame temperature distribution is measured by thermocouple and the volume fraction (fv) of soot at each sampling point is calculated, then combining with the mass concentration of soot by the filter weighing method to obtain the distribution characteristics of soot in the flame. The results of thermocouple particle densitometry (TPD) show that the formation and oxidation of soot at every point in the flame is related closely to its position and temperature in the flame. The fv of soot in the center of the flame is negatively correlated with the temperature of the flame during the MILD-OCC combustion. The lower temperature region of the flame is conducive to the growth of soot, which leads to higher value of fv. The higher temperature in the center of the flame is beneficial to the oxidation of the soot particles, resulting to lower value of fv. The results of the filter membrane weighing method show that the formation of soot mainly occurs in the central region of the flame. When the radial distance increases, the flame temperature rises, and the soot concentration decreases due to oxidation. On the whole, the distribution of soot measured by the filter membrane weighing method is roughly consistent with that calculated by the TPD, which provides a reference for further research on the MILD-OCC combustion. © 2022, Tsinghua University Press.

Smoke is the key feature of fire detection in its early age. Thus, an efficient smoke detection approach (i. e. an accurate and rapid method) is essential important to prevent fires. However, it is difficult to obtain an efficient method due to non-obvious details and monotonous color of smoke images. Moreover, traditional methods of smoke detection based on CNN contains lots of parameters and operations, which severely influents the computing efficiency in practical applications. Thus, we propose an efficient dual-channel neural network (EDCNN) on the basis of the state-of-The-Art DCNN. Concretely, we use the linear inverted bottleneck (LIB) to replace the traditional convolution layers on DCNN to build a light weight deep neural network. The introduction of the LIB block can efficiently trade off between accuracy and latency. Moreover, ReLU6 is used as the activation function, because it is more suitable for low-precision hardware devices. We then use some experimental results to demonstrate the effectiveness of EDCNN compared with the competitors for smoke detection in terms of model and computational complexity. © 2022 IEEE.

In this paper, we investigate the simultaneous state and unknown input (SUI) filtering issue for a class of multi-sensor networked systems (MSNSs). The unknown input with no prior knowledge is introduced in the system state and output. The focus of this paper is to design the local filters with regard to the SUI, which can yield that the local upper bounds of the filtering error covariance for the SUI are derived at each instant. Moreover, the local filter gains of the SUI are designed such that the obtained upper bounds can be minimized. Finally, the proposed joint SUI algorithm is verified by using the simulation example. © 2022 IEEE.

Accelerating the(NH_4)_(2)SO_(3) oxidation gives rise to the reclaiming of byproduct, while there are secondary environmental risks from reduction of the coexisted selenium species by sulfite. In this study, a bi-functional Co-SBA-15-SH, were synthesized through Co impregnation and sulfhydryl(-SH) decoration, which can simultaneously uptake Se and accelerate sulfite oxidation efficiently. Meanwhile, the adsorption kinetics and migration mechanism of Se species were revealed through characterization and density functional calculations, with maximum adsorption capacity of 223 mg/g. The inhibition of Se~0 re-emission and poisonous effect of Se on sulfite oxidation was also investigated. Using the findings of this study, the ammonia desulfurization can be improved by enabling purification of the byproduct and lowering the toxicity of effluent by removing toxic pollutants.

Over the years, hundreds of applications have proved the effectiveness of constraint-based methods to validate the definition of metabolic networks, determine the robustness of metabolic models, and analyze the flow of metabolites through a network. However, stoichiometric models do not include information on flux capacity via enzymatic activity. Methods combining biological data from genome to metabolome have been developed to obtain improved flux predictions and constrain the range of possible flux distributions. Yet, these models still lack relevant information to design de novo metabolic pathways. Expressing the exogenous enzymes induces a cell burden due to competition for cell resources between the exogenous genes and the endogenous host ones, compromising the performance of the designed pathway. Thus, optimal selection of the expression strength of the pathway enzymes is still a challenge. Host-aware models have been developed to tackle cell burden in the context of designing increasingly complex synthetic genetic circuits in synthetic biology. This paper suggests a method to integrate host-aware gene expression models with constraint-based modeling to maximize the flux through an exogenous pathway by optimizing promoter and ribosome binding site strengths, crucial parameters that define the required transcription and translation strengths of the pathway enzymes’ genes. This study considers the formation of p-coumaric acid, shows promising results, and paves the way for further investigations.

The increasing number of wireless sensor nodes brings more application markets and challenges to the Internet of things (IoT). The traditional IPv4 address resources cannot meet the needs of the development of the IoT, so we need a communication mechanism with better compatibility and scalability. With the proposal of the 6LoWPAN protocol, the application of 6LoWPAN to the communication network of the IoT has become the focus of research. This paper studies the research status of 6LoWPAN in the field of Internet of things in the past four years, and analyzes the system architecture, system composition and monitoring parameters of 6LoWPAN through different application scenarios. Experiments in related literatures show that 6LoWPAN has stable network transmission performance and can be used for precise monitoring and management in combination with web applications. In addition, RPL routing protocol security algorithm can be one of the future research directions. © 2020 IEEE.

This paper mainly explores the anode properties of CoδFe1-δOx-Sm0.2Ce0.8O1.9 (SDC) (δ=0, 0.2, 0.5, 0.8, and 1) for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC). The composite anode materials were synthesized by sol-gel method, and the XRD technique was used to characterize structural properties. After H2 reduction at 700 oC, the CoδFe1-δOx oxides were reduced to Co, Fe metal or Co-Fe alloy. The symmetric cells were fabricated with CoδFe1-δOx-SDC as the electrodes and SDC-carbonate as the electrolyte. At 700 oC, the symmetric cell with Co0.5Fe0.5Ox-SDC electrodes showed the lowest polarization resistance and the symmetric cell with Co0.2Fe0.8Ox-SDC showed the largest polarization resistance. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. Biochar Doped Carbon Nitride to Enhance the Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution: Synergy of Nitrogen Vacancies and Bridging Carbon Structure and First-Principles Calculation

Enhancing the separation and transfer of photogenerated carries is vital for improving the efficiency of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) of graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4). Herein, a carbon-rich g-C3N4 with nitrogen vacancies (CCN4) was constructed by incorporating the biochar into g-C3N4 during a thermal polymerization in N2 atmosphere. The doped carbon atoms replaced the bridged nitrogen and increased the delocalization π states. The synergy of the enhanced π states and nitrogen vacancy favored to narrow the bandgap and accelerate the charge separation and migration in catalyst. Meanwhile, the CCN4 catalyst had a favorable kinetics for HER with simpler steps and lower energy barrier than the PCN sample in which H2 production from *H is prior to OH generation. The CCN4 catalyst exhibited excellent HER activity with a hydrogen evolution rate of 3342 μmol·g-1·h-1 with 0.5wt% cocatalyst Pt, which was 5.06 times higher than that of pristine g-C3N4 (PCN). Additionally, CCN4 exhibited good resistance to salt with the concentration near natural seawater, showing the further improved hydrogen evolution rate of 3809 μmol·g-1·h-1. The findings reported in this work shed light on a biochar-tailored protocol to control the defects of g-C3N4 and optimize its intrinsic electronic properties and photocatalytic HER. © 2023, The Authors. Unexpected Role of Singlet Oxygen Generated in Urea-Modulated Lafeo3 Perovskite Heterogeneous Fenton System in Denitrification: Mechanism and Theoretical Calculations

This study appears an unprecedented phenomenon that 1O2, generated in urea-modulated LaFeO3 (U-LaFeO3) perovskite heterogeneous Fenton system, is superior to OH• and O2•- in NO removal. The 2.5U-LaFeO3/H2O2 system can remove 82.9% of NO, with a low H2O2/NO molar ratio (4.7) and high GHSV (30,800 h-1), along with good environmental adaptability and reusability. Urea modulation induced the formations of abundant La defects, O vacancies and Fe(IV), also improved the pore structure and surface area. The contribution order of different free radicals to NO removal is 1O2 > O2•- > •OH. Characterization combined with theoretical calculation clarify that (i) H2O2 is inclined to derive HO2• on Fe sites;(ii) 1O2 is mainly generated from O2•- reaction with Fe(IV)/Fe(III);(iii) •OH is mainly produced by splitting of H2O2 on Fe site and decomposition of HO2• on OV site. The main denitrification paths are NO+1O2→NO2, NO2+•OH→NO3- and NO+•OH→NO2-. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Ongoing coal-to-gas (CTG) largely cut down both coal consumption and associated PM2.5. However, a knowledge gap still existed in CTG impacts on the other energy and organic pollutant emissions. Coupling on-site investigation with statistical yearbooks, we provided a more realistic energy evolutions before (BCTG), during (DCTG), and after (ACTG) the CTG for Hebei Province. Together, we examined the impacts of CTG derived energy conversion on PM2.5-bound PAHs at urban (UA)/suburban rural (SRA)/remote rural (RRA) sites in winter 2022. As expected, the consumptions of coal and natural gas (NG) far decreased and increased from BCTG to ACTG, respectively. Accidentally, biomass usage rose by 60.7%, and rural CTG acted as a main driver. Specially, SRA's NG-shortage and coal-stove demolition should be the main inducements, and RRA's coal-sale ban was another trigger in the early stage of CTG. ∑18PAHs and ∑8TPAHs stand for the sum of 18 PAHs and 8 toxic PAHs, respectively. ∑18PAHs (ng/m3) presented as SRA (81.8) > RRA (46.4) > UA (19.4). Biomass burning (BB) and NG combustion (NGC) contributed most to∑18PAHs of 31.0% and 23.1% at SRA, resulting in the highest ∑18PAHs, ∑18PAHs/PM2.5, and ∑8TPAHs/PM2.5, and incremental lifetime cancer risk values. Also, NGC has become the second largest contributor at UA. Variations in both diagnostic ratios and source-depend isomers further proved the prominence of NGC related PAHs at UA vs. SRA. Notably, RRA was least affected by the CTG, coal combustion (CC, 40.4%) and BB (32.6%) still occupied the top positions. In short, CTG gave rise to an upsurge in biomass usage, and the incremental PAHs emissions from BB vs. NGC. This study underlined that the priorities should be given to rural NG guarantee and subsidy retention, and biomass prohibition for further air quality improvement. © 2024 Elsevier B.V.
