Equivalent input disturbance-based load frequency control for smart grid with air conditioning loads

Integrating intermittent wind power into power systems results in low or zero inertia, threatening their frequency stability. To accommodate intermittent generations, the demand response(DR) is introduced, and air conditioning loads(ACs) account for an increasing proportion of all loads. The replacement of traditional generators with wind turbines and the ACs user uncertainties produce parameter uncertainties. This paper aims to construct an equivalent input disturbance(EID)-based load frequency control(LFC) strategy for the power system by considering wind power and ACs. First, an open-loop model is constructed for the LFC scheme with parameter uncertainties. Then, the parameter uncertainties and external disturbance are lumped into a fictitious disturbance, which is estimated using an EID *** incorporating the estimation of disturbance into the control input, the disturbance-rejection performance is achieved. Next, the Lyapunov theory is used to derive the two linear-matrix-inequality-based asymptotic stability criteria. A design algorithm is developed for the EID-based LFC scheme by exploiting an overall performance evaluation index. Finally, simulation results for the single-area and two-area LFC schemes show that, compared with the existing approaches, the method presented realizes the better disturbance rejection and higher robustness against parameter uncertainties, wind power fluctuation, and tie-line power ***, its robustness to time delays is verified.

Wepresent a comparative study of traditional "norm-based" and recently developed "norm free" event-triggered control architectures. For this purpose, the benchmark problem of scheduling control data transmissions from an embedded processor (i.e., controller) to a physical plant (i.e., dynamical system) is considered. Both architectures leverage the Lyapunov stability theory in order to address this problem by determining the timing of control data transmissions through their respective event-triggering rules. When the goal of utilizing an event-triggering approach is to reduce the number of data transmissions without sacrificing much from the closed-loop system performance, the norm-free architec ture results in fewer events and, therefore, allows for a greater reduction in control data transmissions. A detailed numerical study is conducted to evaluate these architectures in both open-loop stable and unstable linear time-invariant dynamical systems. © 2025, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. A thermoelectric generator (TEG) is a solid-state semiconductor device that can convert temperature differences and heat flow into electrical energy. Nowadays, industries with high-temperature production processes tend to experience unavoidable heat loss. Heat exchangers are therefore the most widely used equipment to recover these waste heat. The researcher therefore saw the benefits of bringing TEG devices to be installed in heat exchangers. It is thought that in addition to the heat exchanger being a device that helps the heat transfer of one fluid to another fluid. Can also generate electricity back to use as well. This will be of great benefit in increasing the efficiency of waste heat recovery and reducing production costs. In this research, 36 plates of Bismuth Telluride (Bi2Te3) TEG devices were installed in plate and fin heat exchangers and studied the effect of changes in the inlet flow rate of cold water at 20 °C on the effect of heat exchange and the electrical power produced by TEG. The hot water inlet flow rate was constant at 1 l/min and the temperature was constant at 85 °C. Then mathematical model was created to predict the results of the outlet hot water temperature, outlet cold water temperature, current and voltage produced. The model can predict accurately the least squares value (R2) with values of 0.949, 0.859, 0.707 and 0.749, respectively. In addition, a multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) using model predictive controller (MPC) was designed to control the output current, and temperature can control into the setpoint effectively. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The present paper aims at validating a Model Predictive control(MPC),based on the Mixed Logical Dynamical(MLD)model,for Hybrid Dynamic systems(HDSs)that explicitly involve continuous dynamics and discrete *** proposed benchmark system is a three-tank process,which is a typical case study of *** MLD-MPC controller is applied to the level control of the considered tank *** study is initially focused on the MLD approach that allows consideration of the interacting continuous dynamics with discrete events and includes the operating *** feature of MLD modeling is very advantageous when an MPC controller synthesis for the HDSs is *** the MLD model of the system is well-posed,then the MPC law synthesis can be developed based on the Mixed Integer Programming(MIP)optimization *** solving this MIP problem,a Branch and Bound(B&B)algorithm is proposed to determine the optimal control ***,a comparative study is carried out to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid controller for the HDSs compared to the standard MPC *** results show that the MLD-MPC approach outperforms the standardMPCone that doesn’t consider the hybrid aspect of the *** paper also shows a behavioral test of the MLDMPC controller against disturbances deemed as liquid leaks from the *** results are very satisfactory and show that the tracking error is minimal less than 0.1%in nominal conditions and less than 0.6%in the presence of *** results confirm the success of the MLD-MPC approach for the control of the HDSs.

Synthesis and Characterization of Biochar Obtained from Microwave-Assisted Copyrolysis of Torrefied Sawdust and Polystyrene

This study focuses on copyrolyzing pretreated sawdust and polystyrene utilizing microwave-assisted pyrolysis (MAP) with equal mixing to synthesize and characterize biochar. Graphite was used as a susceptor to facilitate precise pyrolysis temperature control. Potassium hydroxide (KOH) powder serves as a catalyst, influencing the char yields and properties. Torrefied raw sawdust at various temperatures (125–175 °C) enhances biochar yields (24–29 wt %). The feedstocks sawdust and polystyrene are characterized by elemental, proximate, and TGA examinations. Furthermore, comprehensive surface, crystallographic, FTIR, and SEM-EDX analyses are performed on microwave copyrolyzed biochar. The developments in BET surface area during copyrolysis show changes concerning pretreatment temperatures: 125 °C (5.6 m2/g) < 150 °C (6.8 m2/g) < 175 °C (8.6 m2/g). Functional groups connected to the alcohols’ O–H bend and C–O stretching vibrations are detected in the biochar samples through FTIR analysis. Sharp peaks with 2θ values between 33.2° and 36.2° appear in the XRD scan of biochar, indicating the presence of crystalline components in the sample. The EDX results demonstrated that the components of biochar included Mg, C, O, and Ca, indicating that it could have plenty of advantageous applications. The study highlights the obstruction of sawdust char’s porous structures by polystyrene, hindering volatile emissions and leading to increased heating rates. These findings underscore the unique contributions of this method to biochar production.

Comprehensive analyses on thermal runaway mechanisms are critically vital to achieve the safe lithium-sulfur(Li-S)*** reactions between dissolved higher-order polysulfides and Li metal were found to be the origins for the thermal runaway of 1.0 Ah cycled Li-S pouch cells.16-cycle pouch cell indicates high safety,heating from 30 to 300 ℃ without thermal runaway,while 16-cycle pouch cell with additional electrolyte undergoes severe thermal runaway at 147.9 ℃,demonstrating the key roles of the electrolyte on the thermal safety of *** the contrary,thermal runaway does not occur for 45-cycle pouch cell despite the addition of the *** is found that the higher-order polysulfides(Li_(2)S_(x) ≥ 6)are discovered in 16-cycle electrolyte while the sulfur species in 45-cycle electrolyte are Li_(2)S_(x) ≤ *** addition,strong exothermic reactions are discovered between cycled Li and dissolved higher-order polysulfide(Li_(2)S_(6) and Li_(2)S_(8))at 153.0 ℃,driving the thermal runaway of cycled Li-S pouch *** work uncovers the potential safety risks of Li-S batteries and negative roles of the polysulfide shuttle for Li-S batteries from the safety view.

This paper compares different stub shapes for minimizing far-end crosstalk. COMSOL Multiphysics software was used as the modeling environment. Frequency-domain modeling revealed that the use of rectangular stubs significantly shifts the | S41| (dB) values at the -20 dB level toward higher frequencies (from 1 GHz to 6 GHz). For time-domain analysis, the TALGAT quasi-static modeling system was used. It was found that the use of rectangular stubs reduces far-end crosstalk from 35 to 11 mV. Circular stubs reduce the amplitude of far-end crosstalk from 35 to 12 mV. The use of triangular stubs slightly improves transmission line characteristics in the time domain, namely, reducing far-end crosstalk from 35 to 20 mV. N-norms were used to evaluate the crosstalk in the time domain. It was found that the structure with a rectangular stub has the smallest N1 value, equal to 11 mV. It was revealed that the structure with a rectangular stub has the smallest N2, N4, and N5 values, which are 1.688.10-8, 2.526.10-12, and 1.21.107, respectively. The N3 value may be due to the presence of reflections and crosstalk in the time response at port 4. © 2024 IEEE.
