Thermal safety of dendritic lithium against non-aqueous electrolyte in pouch-type lithium metal batteries

A quantitative relationship between safety issues and dendritic lithium(Li) has been rarely investigated yet. Herein the thermal stability of Li deposits with distinct surface area against non-aqueous electrolyte in pouch-type Li metal batteries is probed. The thermal runaway temperatures of Li metal batteries obtained by accelerating rate calorimeter are reduced from 211 ℃ for Li foil to 111 ℃ for cycled *** initial exothermic temperature is reduced from 194 ℃ for routine Li foil to 142 ℃ for 49.5 m~2g^(-1) dendrite. Li with different specific surface areas can regulate the reaction routes during the temperature range from 50 to 300 ℃. The mass percent of Li foil and highly dendritic Li reacting with ethylene carbonate is higher than that of moderately dendritic Li. This contribution can strengthen the understanding of the thermal runaway mechanism and shed fresh light on the rational design of safe Li metal batteries.

Liver rupture repair surgery serves as one tool to treat liver rupture, especially beneficial for cases of mild liver rupture hemorrhage. Liver rupture can catalyze critical conditions such as hemorrhage and shock. Surgical workflow recognition in liver rupture repair surgery videos presents a significant task aimed at reducing surgical mistakes and enhancing the quality of surgeries conducted by surgeons. A liver rupture repair simulation surgical dataset is proposed in this paper which consists of 45 videos collaboratively completed by nine surgeons. Furthermore, an end-to-end SA-RLNet, a self attention-based recurrent convolutional neural network, is introduced in this paper. The self-attention mechanism is used to automatically identify the importance of input features in various instances and associate the relationships between input features. The accuracy of the surgical phase classification of the SA-RLNet approach is 90.6%. The present study demonstrates that the SA-RLNet approach shows strong generalization capabilities on the dataset. SA-RLNet has proved to be advantageous in capturing subtle variations between surgical phases. The application of surgical workflow recognition has promising feasibility in liver rupture repair surgery. ©2024 the Author(s), licensee AIMS Press. This paper presents a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) based regression model for characterizing materials at micrwave frequency range. A mathematical model and experimental setup of the Open-Ended Coaxial Probe (OECP) sensor interacting with the material under test (MUT) generate a cross-dataset to validate the MLP regression model, utilizing the frequency-dependent complex dielectric constant for material characterization. This paper utilizes the frequency-dependent response of the OECP sensor (scattering parameters) as input features for the MLP model, while the complex dielectric constant of the MUT serves as the output feature. The optimized MLP model has an R2 of 99.991% and MSE of 6.65 × 10-5, with predictions closely aligning with literature values for standard loads such as distilled water, acetone, and ethanol, obtained using a commercially available dielectric assessment software kit. This cost-effective model enables precise dielectric property estimation, with future work extending to unknown materials, mixtures, and electrolyte solutions. © 2025 IEEE.

Many multiagent system applications necessitate each agent to separately visit a specific location in space at a particular moment in time (i.e., spatiotemporal points). To this end, we propose a finite-time distributed control protocol over directed acyclic graphs that addresses the problem of multiagent placement at spatiotemporal points. In particular, we demonstrate that the proposed protocol can drive the trajectories of agents to their spatiotemporal points at different user-defined times by employing methods ranging from time transformation to input-to-state stability and Lyapunov stability. To show the efficacy of the proposed protocol, we also give two illustrative numerical examples. © 2024 IEEE.

In the process of coal mine drilling,controlling the rotary speed is important as it determines the efficiency and safety of *** this paper,a linear extended state observer(LESO)based backstepping controller for rotary speed is proposed,which can overcome the impact of changes in coal seam hardness on rotary ***,the influence of coal seam hardness on the drilling rig’s rotary system is considered for the first time,which is reflected in the numerical variation of load torque,and a dynamic model for the design of rotary speed controller is *** an LESO is designed to observe the load torque,and feedforward compensation is carried out to overcome the influence of coal seam *** on the model of the compensated system,a backstepping method is used to design a controller to achieve tracking control of the rotary ***,the effectiveness of the controller designed in this paper is demonstrated through simulation and field experiments,the steady-state error of the rotary speed in field is 1 r/min,and the overshoot is reduced to 5.8%.This greatly improves the stability and security,which is exactly what the drilling process requires.

In the present study, an adsorbent material (N-dopped Cu/Al@Biochar) was synthesized by integrating N, Cu, and Al atoms into the structure of a biochar. This material was characterized by several physicochemical methods, then applied to the elimination of tetracycline (TC) and norfloxacin (NC). The results obtained showed that the modification method used, although significantly altering the mesoporous structure of the original biochar, generates several functional groups on the surface of the material, giving it excellent adsorption properties. These properties were evaluated by studying the influence of various experimental parameters such as the pH of the solution, the mass of doped biochar, and the contact time on the amount of antibiotic adsorbed. Adsorption studies revealed maximum amounts of TC and NC adsorbed of 65 and 96 mg/g at pH = 8 and 6 respectively with 50 mg of adsorbent for an equilibrium time of 90 min for TC and 60 min for NC at a concentration of 15 mg/L for both antibiotics. This adsorption capacity led to the removal percentages of up to 90 and 82% for TC and NC, respectively. After five cycles of use, a decrease in adsorption efficiency of 9% for TC and 11% for NC was observed, demonstrating the impressive stability of the synthesized material. Kinetic studies revealed that the Elovich and pseudo nth order models are the most appropriate to describe the adsorption kinetics of TC and NC respectively. In addition, the two- and three-parameter isotherm models used in this study revealed multilayer adsorption processes, based on both π-π, n-π, van der Waals bond formation and hydrogen bonds. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature 2025.
