To address the challenges of gesture recognition accuracy within human-computer interaction technologies, and to overcome the limitations of single-modal biometric feature recognition - which often falls short in practical applications, this paper introduces a multimodal feature fusion classification algorithm, sEMG-vision Tra. This algorithm aims to integrate different types of biometric data, thereby enhancing the robustness and effectiveness of gesture recognition. Initially, we utilize the Mediapipe framework to extract skeletal point data from images of the human hand. The next process involves calculating distance and angle features between skeletal points, as well as extracting time-domain features from surface electromyographic (sEMG) signals. Following this, features from these two modalities are concatenated along the feature dimension and then linearly projected onto the target dimension. To effectively capture the intricate interrelationships among these features, we employ a multi-layer Transformer encoder for encoding the combined features. The encoded features are subsequently mapped to the final output dimension. The effectiveness of our approach is demonstrated through validation on a custom dataset. This algorithm's key contribution lies in the fusion of two distinct modal features, images and EMG signals, to achieve a more holistic and precise feature representation. By this, it significantly enhances our ability to capture the essential information for applications like gesture recognition or human-computer interaction. The algorithm showcases exceptional performance, achieving a noteworthy accuracy rate of 95.56% on a custom dataset.

Transformer and its derivatives have achieved success in diverse tasks across computer vision, natural language processing, and speech processing. To reduce the complexity of computations within the multi-head self-attention mechanism in Transformer, Selective State Space Models (i.e., Mamba) were proposed as an alternative. Mamba exhibited its effectiveness in natural language processing and computer vision tasks, but its superiority has rarely been investigated in speech signal processing. This paper explores solutions for applying Mamba to speech processing by discussing two typical speech processing tasks: speech recognition, which requires semantic and sequential information, and speech enhancement, which focuses primarily on sequential patterns. The experimental results confirm that bidirectional Mamba (BiMamba) consistently outperforms vanilla Mamba, highlighting the advantages of a bidirectional design for speech processing. Moreover, experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of BiMamba as an alternative to the self-attention module in the Transformer model and its derivates, particularly for the semantic-aware task. The crucial technologies for transferring Mamba to speech are then summarized in ablation studies and the discussion section, offering insights for extending this research to a broader scope of tasks.

In this paper, a deep residual network based on convolutional block attention module (CBAM) is proposed, which is utilized for feature extraction of partially occluded face expression data. The proposed method overcomes the problem of localized occlusion face feature extraction by focusing on the regions and channels containing important information in the occluded face data through CBAM. Multi-task cascaded convolutional networks (MTCNN) are firstly utilized to localize the key regions of face emotion, and then deep emotion features are extracted by CBAM-ResNet network. The final emotion labels are generated. The effectiveness of this paper's method is verified on the RAF-DB dataset and the occluded CK+ dataset. The experimental accuracy in the RAF-DB dataset is 76.3%, which is 3.74% and 1.64% higher than the accuracy produced by the method of RGBT, and the WLS-RF, respectively. Application experiments are carried out in the real teaching scenario, which verifies the applicability of the algorithm in the real teaching scene. © 2023 IEEE.

Accurately forecasting the future motions of road participants is essential for proactive hazard avoidance and safety planning of autonomous vehicles. Existing methods for motion prediction based on probabilistic generative models are limited to low-accuracy likelihood calculations and relatively finite mode distributions. Recent studies show that score-based models can naturally overcome these limitations. In this work, we present a novel paradigm of conditional score-based models for vehicle motion prediction, called Motion-CSM. First, we model scene contextual representations of interaction regions at the feature level via graph convolutional networks. We then interpolate these representations as conditions into the solution process of the continuous-time reverse stochastic differential equation (SDE) to guide trajectory generation, which progressively converts the known prior distributions into multimodal trajectories including the ground truth modes. The designed stacked Transformer structure with dual control conditions is adopted to learn the score function approximation of the Gaussian perturbation kernel. Finally, we develop multiple consistency constraints to align the inference results of Motion-CSM in reverse SDE solving to improve the self-consistency and stability of multimodal trajectory generation. Experimental results on the real-world motion dataset demonstrate that the multimodal forecasting accuracy of Motion-CSM outperforms state-of-the-art methods.

The downlink channel estimation is currently a critical bottleneck for IRS-assisted cell-free multiple input multiple output communication. Conventionally, most studies have employed deep learning methods to estimate the high-dimensional, complex cascaded channels generated by IRS, necessitating data collection from all users for centralized model training, which results in excessively large overheads, and data privacy problems. To tackle this challenge, a federated learning (FL)-based channel estimation framework incorporates coalition formation to guide the formation of FL user groups. We propose a coalition formation-enabled federated learning framework for channel estimation, utilizing a deep reinforcement learning (DRL) approach to intelligently group users into multiple coalitions, thereby improving channel estimation accuracy. Moreover, considering that nodes with similar distances to the base station and similar received signal power have a strong likelihood that they experience similar channel fading, we designed a transfer learning method that incorporates both received reference signal power and distance similarity metrics. The transfer learning technique is designed to accelerate the convergence of DRL-federated learning process. Simulations reveal that the proposed algorithms significantly reduce communication overhead for local users and improve data privacy while maintaining commendable channel estimation accuracy.

Existing hand gesture recognition methods predominantly rely on a close-set assumption, which in essence limits the viewpoints, gesture categories, and hand shapes at test time to closely resemble those seen during training. This requirement is however rarely met in practice, as images are often captured from unconstrained viewpoints, with novel gestures and unseen hand shapes that can differ significantly from the training data. This motivates us to investigate an open-set hand gesture recognition problem, where hand gestures are still recognizable from unconstrained viewpoints, and novel gesture classes and hand shapes can be incrementally learned with just a few examples. To address this, we propose a viewpoint influence elimination network that extracts view-independent features, significantly improving performance in scenarios with unconstrained viewpoints. Moreover, a joint-weighted classification scheme is introduced to augment the cosine similarity metric for evaluating few-shot incremental learning of novel gestures and shapes. Finally, as existing hand gesture recognition datasets primarily adhere to the close-set assumption, a new hand gesture recognition dataset, OHG, is introduced in this paper, that includes a wide range of viewpoints, diverse gesture classes, and distinct hand shapes. Experimental hand gesture recognition results demonstrate the superior performance of our approach in both unconstrained viewpoint and few-shot incremental learning scenarios. Sensor network localization (SNL) problems require determining the physical coordinates of all sensors in a network. This process relies on the global coordinates of anchors and the available measurements between non-anchor and anchor nodes. Attributed to the intrinsic non-convexity, obtaining a globally optimal solution to SNL is challenging, as well as implementing corresponding algorithms. In this paper, we formulate a non-convex multi-player potential game for a generic SNL problem to investigate the identification condition of the global Nash equilibrium (NE) therein, where the global NE represents the global solution of SNL. We employ canonical duality theory to transform the non-convex game into a complementary dual problem. Then we develop a conjugation-based algorithm to compute the stationary points of the complementary dual problem. On this basis, we show an identification condition of the global NE: the stationary point of the proposed algorithm satisfies a duality relation. Finally, simulation results are provided to validate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

In this research, a method for improving the efficiency of induction motors based on the modified gray wolf optimizer (mGWO) is proposed and examined. In order to reduce the overall copper and iron losses of the machine, the efficiency improvement technique entails modifying the geometric dimensions with regard to the lower and upper bound of those parameters. A comparison between the findings achieved utilizing the mGWO and GAs approach is done, and some simulation performances are shown along with a comparison of efficiency, electric current, and torque. The approach mGWO provided good results and required less time to extract results once the simulation results were obtained using the aforementioned methods.

—Large-scale centralized development of wind and solar energy and peer-to-grid transmission of renewable energy source (RES) via high voltage direct current (HVDC) has been regarded as one of the most promising ways to achieve goals of peak carbon and carbon neutrality in China. Traditionally, large-scale thermal generation is needed to economically support the load demand of HVDC with a given profile, which in turn raises concerns about carbon emissions. To address the issues above, hydrogen energy storage system (HESS) and ammonia energy storage system (AESS) are introduced to gradually replace thermal generation, which is represented as a multi-stage expansion planning (MSEP) problem. Specifically, first, HESS and AESS are established in the MSEP model with carbon emission reduction constraints, and yearly data with hourly time resolution are utilized for each stage to well describe the intermittence of RES. Then, a combined Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition (DWD) and column generation (CG) solution approach is proposed to efficiently solve the large-scale MSEP model. Finally, a real-life system in China is studied. The results indicate that HESS and AESS have the potential to handle the intermittence of RES, as well as the monthly imbalance between RES and load demand. Especially under the goal of carbon neutrality, the contribution of HESS and AESS in reducing levelized cost of energy (LCOE) reaches 12.28% and 14.59%, respectively, which finally leads to a LCOE of 0.4324 RMB/kWh.
