This study investigates the impact of utilizing a network RTK and our own RTK base station on the lateral tracking performance of a GNSS-based navigation system. The experiment employs an adaptive PID controller and compares the performance of both methods on an autonomous golf cart. The tracking path, composed of straight and curve segments, is manually generated based on the network RTK. The adaptive PID controller, with the gains tuned based on the slope of the path, is used to perform the tracking based on the real-time positioning observed from the network RTK as well as our own RTK base station. The results demonstrate that both network RTK and our own RTK base station achieve acceptable tracking performance, with lateral errors remaining within acceptable limits. Our own RTK base station exhibits slightly lower lateral errors compared to the network RTK, indicating improved tracking accuracy. However, setting up and maintaining our own RTK base station requires a more complex process and additional costs for an extra GNSS receiver. Hence, the choice between the two methods involves a trade-off between enhanced performance and the associated complexities. © 2023 ICROS.

Urban traffic congestion presents critical challenges, resulting in delays, environmental pollution, and significant economic costs. While traditional traffic control methods, such as fixed-time and adaptive systems, have been widely implemented, they often fail in unpredictable conditions, particularly when confronted with noisy or inaccurate data. This research proposes a robust reinforcement learning (RL) solution for traffic signal control using the RADIAL-DQN (Robust Adversarial Loss DQN) algorithm. Integrating adversarial training enhances the system's robustness to real-world uncertainties. Evaluations conducted using a SUMO traffic simulation show that the robust agent produced an increase of only 60.71% in queue length under a projected gradient descent (PGD) adversarial attack, outperforming standard RL agents, which experienced an 89% increase. These results demonstrate the potential of robust RL to improve both the reliability and scalability of urban traffic control systems. © 2024 IEEE.

Toilet quality assurance is a crucial process in ensuring lavatories meet rigorous performance, durability, and hygiene standards. The current standard of Maximum Performance (MaP) testing faces challenges, leading researchers to explore innovative approaches such as sound source classification for quality assurance. This approach involves collecting a diverse dataset of lavatory sounds and extracting relevant acoustic features. Deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs), are trained on these features to accurately classify sound sources. The trained models were evaluated and compared by considering metrics such as classification accuracy, computational complexity, and model parameters. This paper performs these tests and chooses the most effective model to enhance the quality assurance process for toilets. Incorporating sound source classification techniques has several benefits, including the optimization of testing processes, non-intrusive performance assessment, and efficient resource utilization through targeted testing and troubleshooting. By improving the standards of lavatory quality, this approach ensures enhanced performance, durability, and hygiene of lavatories. © 2023 IEEE.

In elderly society, the falling of the elderly inside the house is the one of the causes of injury or death to the elderly. It negatively affects both the family and the elderly themselves. Therefore, taking care of the elderly at home is extremely important. In this paper, we used YOLOv4 technique to detect posture and LSTM to detect sequence of postures. YOLOv4 is the most efficient detection model compared to other detection models. LSTM is helpful in learning temporal features. Tests with 2 fall datasets showed an efficiency of posture detection by YOLOv4 at 87.88% and YOLOv4 and efficiency of fall detection by combination of YOLOv4 and LSTM at 100%. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper proposes an investigation of the surface temperature effect on the estrus detection of dairy cows using the supervised learning. The neck collars with temperature and motion sensors were attached to the tested dairy cows. Four IP cameras were installed in the cow shed to monitor dairy cow behaviors and for data labeling. Neck temperature and motion data were collected and classified for behaviors and estrus prediction using 3 different supervised learning techniques: artificial neural network (ANN), Decision Tree (DT), and Random Forest (RF). By incorporating the neck temperature, the validation accuracies significantly improved over 25% compared to those of the control set, which comprised only motion data. Other performance metrics also improved in the same manner. The estrus prediction accuracy was 100% for all 3 techniques, around 11% higher than that of the control set. It was later discovered that the temperature feature alone could provide relatively the same validation accuracy, indicating the neck temperature as an important feature for estrus prediction. © 2023 IEEE.

An ideal holographic 3D display should have the characteristics of large viewing angle,full color,and low speckle ***,the viewing angle of the holographic 3D display is usually limited by existing strategies,which vastly hinders its extensive *** this paper,a large viewing angle holographic 3D display system based on maximum diffraction modulation is *** core of the proposed system comprises the spatial light modulators(SLMs)and liquid crystal *** also present a new feasible scheme for the realization of large viewing angle holographic 3D *** is achieved by considering the maximum diffraction angle of SLM as the limited diffraction modulation range of each image *** doing so,we could not only give access to the maximum hologram size of the object,but also tune the reconstructed image of secondary diffraction by using a self-engineered liquid crystal *** importantly,the proposed maximum diffraction modulation scheme enables the viewing angle of the proposed system to be enlarged to 73.4°.The proposed system has huge application potential in the fields such as education,culture,and entertainment.

Mobile robots are the widely used machines that will be a part of life. It can easily be scaled to meet the requirements of human uses and can move to different target areas freely. However, mobile robots have a problem with mobility, which needs to respond to human activities and obstacles. Reinforcement learning (RT) is a part of machine learning, which enables the machine to learn by themselves. It can develop in a real-world environment without machine teaching or patterns. This paper proposed the study on the flocking control simulation, which avoids the obstacles. Mobile robots in simulation presented by using Multi-Agent Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (MAD-DPG). The proposed algorithm, the deep reinforcement learning algorithm, is the main navigation of robots, which find the target, maintain distance between robots, and avoid collision with obstacles by learning features and characteristics with certainty environment, obstacle, robots, and target. On the simulation, the authors operate all of the positions in the environment, and robots speed in the environment as the state. © 2022 IEEE.

This paper presents a vision-based navigation system for an autonomous golf cart, utilizing a custom drive-by-wire system and a single webcam strategically mounted on the left-hand side for real-time roadside tracking. Employing the You Only Look Once for Panoptic Driving Perception (YOLOP) model, optimized with TensorRT and trained on the Berkeley Deep Drive 100K dataset, the system effectively processes images to delineate drivable paths under various lighting conditions. Experiments conducted on both straight and curved paths at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi demonstrated the system’s capability to accurately track and adjust to lane deviations using a Proportional-Derivative control mechanism, ensuring precise vehicle steering and robust performance. The findings underscore the potential of integrating advanced image processing and deep learning models to enhance autonomous navigation in urban settings, suggesting avenues for further improvements in multi-sensor fusion and algorithm optimization.

Holographic 3D display is highly desirable for numerous applications ranging from medical treatments to military ***,it is challenging to simultaneously achieve large viewing angle and high-fidelity color reconstruction due to the intractable constraints of existing ***,we conceptually propose and experimentally demonstrate a simple and feasible pathway of using a well-designed color liquid crystal grating to overcome the inevitable chromatic aberration and enlarge the holographic viewing angle,thus enabling large-viewing-angle and color holographic 3D *** use of color liquid crystal grating allows performing secondary diffraction modulation on red,green and blue reproduced images simultaneously and extending the viewing angle in the holographic 3D display *** principle,a chromatic aberration-free hologram generation mechanism in combination with the color liquid crystal grating is proposed to pave the way for on such a superior holographic 3D *** proposed system shows a color viewing angle of~50.12°,which is about 7 times that of the traditional system with a single spatial light *** work presents a paradigm for achieving desirable holographic 3D display,and is expected to provide a new way for the wide application of holographic display.

Factory waste includes the incomplete combustion of industrial fuels that causes carbon to precipitate in vents. These carbons might be put to good use. Therefore, the impact of using waste carbon in factories to produce electricity is investigated in this study by evaluating electrical characteristics: the type of electrode material's suitability, the size of the electrode's carbon contact surface area, and the distance between the electrodes. According to the findings, the maximum open circuit voltage (Voc) was 1.09 V for copper (+) and zinc (-) electrode materials, 1.11 V for the electrode's carbon contact surface area, and 1.29 V for the electrodes' spacing. The maximum of Voc was 1.11 V, maximum on-load voltage and current were 0.64V, 124.65 mA for optimum electrode carbon contact surface size 40 cm2. Optimum electrode distance at 2 cm that maximum open circuit voltage (Voc) was 1.29 V. The maximum load voltage and current were 0.77V, 128.32mA. Factory waste carbon can be useful in some applications for producing electricity from waste carbon and assisting in the reduction of factory waste. © 2023 IEEE.
