Among the advanced countries, especially in Japan, we are facing on the decreasing birthrate and aging population ahead of the world. In recent, population of single-living elder, and elderly people have been taking care by same-aged person, have been actualized. Unfortunately, the population of caregivers is decreasing according to year. In this situation, the Elderly Person Watching System has been focused on. Especially, Robotics, Internet of Things, and Artificial Intelligence technology have been having high affinity with this system. In this study, firstly, the person watching robot system will be developed. In detail, in this paper, the flexible-analyze system will be focused on. In the algorithm, a resident-tracking task and an energy-saving task are holding. The whole tasks are working based on Reinforcement Learning. Thus, the behavior algorithm of the person watching robot system will be developed. In detail, in this paper, the flexible-analyze system will be focused on. In the algorithm, a resident-tracking task and an energy-saving task are holding. From the verification experiment, the simulation results showed the proposed method has been acquired actions to switch the desired task. © 2019 IEEE.

Hard carbon/SiOx composite active material prepared from phenolic resin and rice husk for Li-ion battery negative electrode

The composite negative electrode active material of Li-ion batteries (LIBs) was fabricated using phenolic resin (PR) and agricultural waste of rice husk (RH). Because silicates were intrinsically composed in RH, the composite of hard carbon (HC) and SiOx (HC/SiOx composite) was readily prepared by carbonizing the mixture of PR and RH. Li-ion insertion and extraction capacity of the HC/SiOx composite was evaluated in a half-cell configuration using Li metal as the counter electrode, in comparison with those of the carbonized RH and the commercial HC. It was revealed the HC/SiOx composite exhibited 30% higher specific capacity of Li-ion insertion/extraction than did the commercial HC. In addition to this, its capacity retention was found to be approximately equal to that of the commercial HC. The performance comparison of the HC/SiOx composite and the carbonized RH suggested that hybridization of HC and SiOx was useful to alleviate the capacity fading of the SiOx part with maintaining the increased specific capacity attributed to the SiOx part. Cost-effective active material for the LIB negative electrode with acceptable performances could be realized by the simple carbonization of the mixture of PR and RH. The produced HC/SiOx composite was promising for vehicle applications requiring excellent cycle performance and high cost effectiveness. ©2018 Soc. Mater. Eng. Resour. Japan.

In this paper, we present a review of how the various aspects of any study using an eye tracker (such as the instrument, methodology, environment, participant, etc.) affect the quality of the recorded eye-tracking data and the obtained eye-movement and gaze measures. We take this review to represent the empirical foundation for reporting guidelines of any study involving an eye tracker. We compare this empirical foundation to five existing reporting guidelines and to a database of 207 published eye-tracking studies. We find that reporting guidelines vary substantially and do not match with actual reporting practices. We end by deriving a minimal, flexible reporting guideline based on empirical research (Section "An empirically based minimal reporting guideline").

In order to improve tracking performance on fast time-varying channels, this paper proposes a soft-output Viterbi algorithm (SOVA) for multiple differential detection (MDD) employing channel prediction and forward error correction. Although QPSK are generally demodulated based on LLR (log-likelihood ratio) for its soft-decisions, it is difficult for joint detection (JD), which does not explicitly estimate channel state information, to derive LLR. This paper proposes soft-output PSP (per-survivor processing), which derives metrics difference between the two paths in the Viterbi algorithm (VA) of PSP, where PSP is JD based on the VA. The proposed scheme can improve tracking performance for time-varying channels without an increase of computational complexity. Finally, computer simulation results confirm that the proposed scheme can track four times larger maximum Doppler frequency normalized by symbol rate in fading than the conventional schemes.

Several position sensorless control methods of interior permanent magnet synchronous motors (IPMSMs) using observers have been proposed. In the case of full-order observers, these designs are difficult because the order of the error equations of observers becomes an order of four. In this paper, to realize the position sensorless control of IPMSMs, a design method for full-order observers based on the extended electromotive force (EEMF) is proposed, and the pole assignment of the proposed observer is studied. Experimental results of the position sensorless control of an IPMSM show the usefulness of this proposed design method for the full-order observer compared to the case where poles are merely assigned on the left half plane.

Synchronous reluctance motors (SynRMs) have attracted attention because they have no magnets. The position sensorless control of SynRMs at low speeds is desired, and several methods have been proposed. A new position sensorless control method for SynRMs in a very-low-speed region has been proposed by the authors. It involves superimposing a high-frequency current with a small constant amplitude, using a high-frequency current control system. This paper shows that robust position sensorless control against inductance variations can be realized using this proposed method. Experiments showed that the proposed method is very useful even in a very-low-speed region.

Mobile systems with lithium-ion batteries have become very popular. Higher performance, longer battery life, and safer operation are required for those systems. We have developed a method of the thermal management system for lithium-ion batteries for mobile systems. An evaluation system has been built with micro-processor with analog interface, and FPGA. It provides a charge and discharge speed control to manage the temperature condition. An application to variable speed charger shows that battery can be charged in short time with less temperature rise. © 2013 TU Dresden.

We believe it is extremely important to quickly communicate information - on matters such as the extent of the damage and the safety of affected persons - when a large-scale earthquake or other disaster occurs. However, if electric power is lost, communication will be impossible with existing information networks. For this reason, we have built an Ad-Hoc network in Shiojiri City enabling communication even if electric power is lost due to a large-scale disaster. Using this Ad-Hoc network, we are building a sensor network to forecast landslide disasters. Among the various sensors installed to the sensor terminals, this paper reports in particular on observation results with EC sensors. © 2013 Springer-Verlag.
