To significantly reduce the number of block-matching (BM) processes in motion vector estimation for HDTV, we have developed an extremely fast block matching (BM) algorithm that we call a "Stick-Shaped Window Search (SSWS)" BM algorithm for H.264/AVC. The algorithm consists of three steps: (1) sub-sampling BM in a reduced number of stick-shaped windows, (2) filternate eight-direction sub-sampling BM, and (3) cyclic small-diamond BM. For HDTV the algorithm not only improves full search (FS) processing speed by a factor of up to 2,716, but also that of a simplified unsymmetrical-cross multi-hexagon-grid search (S-UMHS) by a factor of up to 7.87, while achieving the same visual quality as that of FS.

A key example of this is the inconsistency between implementation image and specifications provided in the early stages of software development. To address this, we propose a method for automatic generation of user interface prototypes for developing Web-based business applications, based on the requirements specifications defined in the Unified Modeling Language (UML). One key to success for high quality enterprise information systems development is to validate the customers' requirements sufficiently at the early stage. Scenarios are an effective means to an end because they make it possible to represent various situations of system usage. Most scenarios are defined by using a natural language or such a formal language as Unified Modeling Language (UML) and describe normal, alternative, and exceptional service flows from the point of view of system usage. As a result, scenarios make it easy for the customers to confirm their requirements intuitively because of the concreteness. On the other hand, based on the V-model, which is well-known software development process and denotes the correspondence of requirement analysis stage to integration test stage, it is desirable that the testers should test the system by using the test cases derived from the validated scenarios. We have proposed a UML-based requirements analysis (RA) model with automatic prototype system generation for enterprise Web application development. This paper proposes a way to efficiently create reliable test cases from the scenarios that have been validated by the customers using the prototype system which was generated by the RA model.

To significantly reduce the number of block-matching (BM) processes for motion vector estimation (ME), we have developed a fast sub-sampling block matching (FSBM) algorithm for H.264. FSBM consists of three steps: a pre-processing step to define conditions for the second step, an alternate sub-sampling process to quickly find the precise location at which the third step starts, and cyclic four-point searches to pinpoint the final motion vector. FSBM not only improves the processing speed of a full search (FS) algorithm by a factor of up to 866, but also that of the simplified unsymmetrical-cross multi-hexagon-grid search (S-UMHS) algorithm for HDTV by a factor of up to 2.18, while achieving the same visual quality as that of FS.

With the deep submicron technologies, IR drop and electromigration have become remarkable by decreasing of the power supply voltage. Therefore, power grid optimization becomes important to achieve the stable operation of large scale integration (LSI). However, it requires large computation time. In this paper, we propose a novel power grid simulation technique which can be applied to a large scale power grid. The proposal technique achieves ldquohigh speed processing by hardware acceleratorrdquo and ldquorealization of high accuracy computation with fixed point arithmeticrdquo. The proposed power grid simulation algorithm achieves 32 times more high speed processing than software processing. The accuracy is proven by experimental comparison with SPICE simulation.

Recently, titanium casting technology attracts attention in the industrial fields. These casting metals are including a various residual stresses due to the heat shrinkage and inclusion particles, et al. In order to apply the casting technology, the accurate estimation of residual stresses is desired in many cases. In this study, it aims at the nondestructive stress evaluation of titanium casting material by the X‐ray stress measurement technique. At first in this study, the sin2ψ method which used in the usual X‐ray stress measurement was tried to measure the residual stresses. However, it was unsuitable for measurement of titanium casting material because of including coarse grains. Therefore, another X‐ray method for single crystal system was employed to coarse crystal grains, in order to investigate the possibilities of residual stress estimating. Four‐axes sample table which can set the both of tilt angle and rotate one on the sample surface was prepared. The stereographic diagrams and the theory of elasticity were used to measure the single crystal stresses on the sample surface.

A 90-nm CMOS motion estimation (ME) processor was developed by employing dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) to greatly reduce the dynamic power. To make full use of the advantages of DVFS, a fast ME algorithm and a small on-chip DC/DC converter were also developed. The fast ME algorithm can adaptively predict the optimum supply voltage (V_(D)) and the optimum clock frequency (f_(c)) before each block matching process starts. Power dissipation of the ME processor, which contained an absolute difference accumulator as well as the on-chip DC/DC converter and DVFS controller, was reduced to 29.1 (mu)W, which was only 3percent that of a conventional ME processor.

We suggest to develop the tendon-driven 2-link manipulator driven by pneumatic cylinder as the assist care lift for the rising and sitting on a chair of elderly people, disabled people or wheelchair users. The tendon-driven manipulator system developed in this subject makes use of the pneumatic cylinder as an actuator. By means of the flexible action caused by the compressibility of the air, the welfare system using pneumatic actuators can be expected as the human-friendly assist. This system is constructed by two parts, i.e., one is the tendon-driven manipulator and the other is actuator part using pneumatic cylinder, and they are separated. The pneumatic cylinder and each link are connected by the tendon through the pulley. In this research, taking account of using the manipulator as care lift, we verified the effect of pneumatic drive, in the view point of the precision of manipulator trajects in case of actual human care.
