Various machine learning techniques have been proposed to improve the effectiveness of Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), where IDS is one of the important parts of the network that functions to maintain network security. With its various capabilities and reputation, Support Vector Machine (SVM) is often applied in various classification cases. However, it has constraints with accuracy and computing time when it comes to data that has large dimensions. Utilizing metaheuristic techniques is one possibility that researchers can use to solve this problem. To overcome this, in this study, we will evaluate the performance of SVM for the IDS case by utilizing the metaheuristic Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm. From the experiments with three different iteration models, the best results of the combination of SVM and GWO were found in a model with 10 GWO iterations and 10 populations with an accuracy of 97.47% using 15 features out of 48 original features of the UKM-IDS20 dataset. © 2024 IEEE.

Modern deep networks are highly complex and their inferential outcome very hard to interpret. This is a serious obstacle to their transparent deployment in safety-critical or bias-aware applications. This work contributes to post-hoc interpretability, and specifically Network Dissection. Our goal is to present a framework that makes it easier to discover the individual functionality of each neuron in a network trained on a vision task; discovery is performed in terms of textual description generation. To achieve this objective, we leverage: (i) recent advances in multimodal vision-text models and (ii) network layers founded upon the novel concept of stochastic local competition between linear units. In this setting, only a small subset of layer neurons are activated for a given input, leading to extremely high activation sparsity (as low as only ≈ 4%). Crucially, our proposed method infers (sparse) neuron activation patterns that enables the neurons to activate/specialize to inputs with specific characteristics, diversifying their individual functionality. This capacity of our method supercharges the potential of dissection processes: human understandable descriptions are generated only for the very few active neurons, thus facilitating the direct investigation of the network's decision process. As we experimentally show, our approach: (i) yields Vision Networks that retain or improve classification performance, and (ii) realizes a principled framework for text-based description and examination of the generated neuronal representations.

The essential criterion for developing an intelligent age-friendly environment is evaluating and monitoring the provision of services. Our research aims to allow the deployment of a broad range of digital healthcare solutions interconnected in an IoT network ecosystem. Through their interoperability, we will be able to cultivate age-friendly smart homes for older adults. Thus, we will enable interpreted living and wellbeing. The intelligent integrations of digital solutions will allow the acquisition and evaluation of health-related data. Standardization, interoperability and scalability of the integration will increase efficiency in healthcare, improving older adults’ Quality of Life (QoL). Also, interpreting their needs will allow key stakeholders to optimize the Quality of Service (QoS). The proposed Internet of Health (IoH) framework will encapsulate sustainable and affordable innovative solutions and their benefits for a comfortable, meaningful, and independent life in an intelligent environment. This work presents an in-depth analysis, identifies and derives the modulation processes in the Thyristor controlled Reactor by applying the Switching Function technique. The basic expressions of the circuit for current and voltage are derived as a function of the Switching Function. Hence the steady state analysis is performed, and the large signal mathematical models are derived. The model has the advantage of incorporating both the switching action of the thyristors and its triggering behaviour. Such a model can be used to investigate the current harmonics in a dynamic environment. Furthermore, the derived model is verified using the PSIM simulation software. The mathematical model results and the circuit simulation results are both analysed and discussed. As the results show, the proposed mathematical model correctly predicts the order and magnitude of the current harmonics with minimal error;less than 0.4% up to the fifth harmonic. Finally, it is worth noting that the switching function mathematical model is simple and its speed of execution is improved significantly by investigating specific range of harmonics. © 2021 IEEE.

Controlling air pollution is a difficult issue for governments in densely populated and developing nations. The burning of fossil fuels, industrial parameters and traffic assume critical parts in contamination of air. There is distinctive particulate matter which decide the nature of the air however among all the particulate matter, consideration towards particulate matter (PM 2.5) is become a necessity. In this paper we detect the PM value using image processing technology. Image processing uses edge detection and depth estimation techniques to get the contaminated regions of the picture. Accordingly, image processing is used to detect air pollution. It detects and quantifies contamination in the air with the image features like time, day/night, outdoor conditions for determining the correlation. The proposal uses the learning model based on these parameters to predict PM level on collected photos. High-level of PM can cause major issues on individuals' wellbeing. As a result, regulating it by just being vigilant on its overall visibility is critical. This paper proposes a method for identifying and evaluating PM contamination by distinguishing six image features: transmission, sky perfection and shading, complete and neighborhood picture difference, and picture entropy. To assess the association between PM level and numerous elements, we also analyze the time, terrain, and climate state of each image. We created a relapse model based on these data to forecast PM2.5 levels in a specific city. © 2023 IEEE.

The detection of cyberattacks has been increasingly emphasized in recent years, focusing on both infrastructure and people. Conventional security measures such as intrusion detection, firewalls, and encryption are insufficient in protecting cyber systems against growing and changing threats. In order to address this problem, scholars have explored reinforcement learning (i.e., RL) as a potential solution for intricate cybersecurity decision-making difficulties. Nevertheless, the use of RL faces several obstacles, including dynamic attack scenarios, insufficient training data, and the challenge of replicating real-world complexities. This study presents a novel framework that uses deep reinforcement learning (i.e., DRL) to simulate harmful cyberattacks and improve cybersecurity. This study presents an agent-based framework that is capable of ongoing learning and adaptation in a dynamic network security environment. The agent determines the optimal course of action by considering the current state of the network and the rewards it receives for its decisions. The CIC-IDS-2018 database, constructed using Python 3.7 programming, was used. The conducted studies yielded outstanding results, with a detection accuracy of 98.82% achieved for the CIC-IDS-2018 database in cyber-attack classification. © 2025 by the authors of this article. Quantum computing is progressing at a fast rate and there is a real threat that classical cryptographic methods can be compromised and therefore impact the security of blockchain networks. All of the ways used to secure blockchain like Rivest–Shamir–Adleman (RSA), Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) and Secure Hash Algorithm 256-bit (SHA256) are the characteristic of the traditional cryptographic techniques vulnerable to attack by quantum algorithms: Shor’s and Grover’s algorithms: can efficiently break asymmetric encryption and speed up brute force attacks. Because of this vulnerability, there exists a need to develop an advance quantum resilient blockchain framework to protect the decentralized ledgers from the future threats of the quantum. This research proposes Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG) as a formidable architectural integration, to fortify security of blockchain. Classical encryption is replaced with PQC, QKD with secure key exchange by detecting eavesdropping, and QRNG with improving cryptographic randomness to remove the predictable key vulnerability. Only with a small loss of transaction efficiency, we increase transaction encryption accuracy, key exchange security, and resistance to quantum attacks. In this quantum enhanced blockchain design, the idea is to preserve the decentralization, transparency and security and at the same time overcome the future quantum threat. By going through rigorous analysis and comparative evaluation, we demonstrate that the approach saves blockchain networks from the emerging quantum risks to make sure that the decentralized finance, smart contracts and cross chain transactions. © (2025), (Science and Information Organization).
