This paper presents the development and creation of a system for measuring length with temperature compensation. The measuring system serves for the final dimensional control of the quality of the product. It is a necessary condition to ensure the conformity of the product with the dimensional values given in the technical drawing. The solution for the case of the product condition with temperature expansion is a measuring system, which has integrated temperature compensation. This means that every time, in addition to the measurement, it also measures the temperature of the product and takes into account the appropriate correction factor for the calculation of the actual value. This allows user to obtain standardized measurement results independent of the temperature of the product at the time of measurement. © 2024, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

This paper presents SkyLabs' concept of advanced and safe satellite electronics design utilizing CoTS components. The recent ESA mission class classification paradigm allows the use of CoTS components in Class 5, 4, and 3 missions under specific conditions. SkyLabs proposes the utilization of hierarchical FdIR topology using autonomous Latch-up Current Limiter (LCL) on the subsystem level and controlled LCLs on the component level, fault tolerant digital design concepts, and thorough execution of MAIT (manufacture, assembly, integration, and test) process, including TId and SEE characterizations. The proposed concepts are demonstrated on SkyLabs high-performance RISC-V based on-board computer named NANohpm-obc. © 2024 IEEE.

In this paper, a new video sequence database, called Slow Motion Video Sequences (SMVS), is developed. The developed SMVS database consists of 30 video sequences with very low temporal activities, where every sequence contains a freezing artifact. The performance of two freezing detection algorithms, the Histogram-Based Freezing Artifacts detection Algorithm (HBFdA) and the Real-Time no-reference Freezing detection Algorithm (RTFdA) are tested on the developed database. The testing results show the poor performance of the tested algorithms. © 2023 IEEE.

Testing is a crucial part of software development. Testing uses a combination of tools to execute test cases and record their results. This paper addresses the integration process of such tools (Windchill and JIRA) into a single application that can be used for overall test case management, as well as exploring the potential for shortening the testing process duration. In addition, test execution and reporting times for tests executed using the integrated test management tool and for tests executed without the aforementioned tool will be analyzed to determine if test execution and reporting times have been reduced as a result of integrating multiple tools. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper explores the potential of MultiModal Large Language Models (MM-LLMs) in automating grading processes in GUI design courses. We introduce a novel approach in using MM-LLMs to conduct pairwise comparisons rather than assigning direct numerical grades, aiming to enhance grading objectivity and efficiency. Preliminary results indicate that multimodal LLMs (such as openAI GPT-4o) can successfully identify superior designs when presented in pairs, suggesting a potential for a scalable and less biased grading system that could benefit both the educators and the students by providing timely and consistent feedback. © 2024 IEEE.

The automotive industry strives to increase the safety of road users using various advanced driver-assistance systems (AdASs). one of the AdAS solutions that should increase the safety of drivers and road users approaching the vehicle from behind is the one that includes an alarm system when the driver leaves the vehicle if there is a possibility of a collision with objects comming from behind. In this paper, a new solution for this purpose is proposed. The solution consists of the YoLov7 algorithm for detecting traffic participants in video sequences, an algorithm for tracking detected traffic participants, and a distance estimation algorithm needed for calculating the speed of the object coming from behind and the time to potential collision (TTC) with the driver's door, which potentially triggers the alarm system. After the development and testing of the solution using a PC, the solution is implemented and tested on the Raspberry Pi 4 platform to test its performance in the case of the embedded platform with limited computational resources. The solution has been tested on a custom dataset which consists of 34 different video sequences, aiming to detect five types of objects (car, bus or truck, pedestrian, cyclist and motorcyclist). The solution achieves high performance in terms of alarm activation and is able to process 25 FPS, thus providing real-time operation capabilities. © 2024 University of Split, FESB.

This paper presents a novel design and implementation of a CCSdS-compliant communication module (X-CoMM) in the X-band frequency range. It consists of an agile transceiver with an upconverter supported by a low-noise low-power local oscillator circuit to extend the operation to X-band frequency. In addition, a single board solution provides an output power of 5 W, with the power added efficiency of the power stage greater than 50%. By implementing an adjustable power supply to power the power amplifier stage, the output power can be decreased to 2 W without compromising efficiency. The highly efficient single-board implementation supports several modules' redundant/parallel operation simultaneously. Further, the module communicates with other systems via standard CAN, LVdS, and two Ethernet interfaces. The CAN interface collects telemetry data and system setup, while the LVdS and two Ethernet interfaces are used for high-speed data transfers. In addition, the X-CoMM includes a dedicated virtual channel for transferring universal lossless compressed data instead of direct data transfer with a typical compression rate of 41%. The detailed system design is presented and focuses on the low-noise local oscillator and the power amplifier stage is more thorough. © 2025 The Authors.

In the last decade, rapid advancements in computer technology have significantly impacted various industries, especially the automotive sector. This paper presents a software solution for a system for displaying information about the profile of the driver of the vehicle in front of the ego-vehicle, based on license plate detection (LPd) and recognition. The system consists of two applications, one for detecting vehicle license plates (VLPs) and recognizing text on them, and a web application for displaying driver profile data and reviewing drivers. Various algorithms for LPd and text recognition were explored within this research, whereas YoLov5 small and PaddleoCR are selected as the most suitable for these tasks, respectively. The experimental results show that the selected YoLov5 small achieved a precision of 0.9905, recall of 0.9811, and F1 score of 0.9858 for the LPd task while processing 2.69 frames per second (FPS) when tested on an Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80 GHz 1.99 GHz processor. Regarding PaddleoCR, the system's maximum recognition distance for VLPs was determined to be when the vehicle in front of the ego-vehicle is distanced at approximately 8 meters for images with resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, where PaddleoCR achieved an accuracy of 77.08% after testing. A django web application was developed to display driver profile data and enable driver reviews based on license plates and the experimental results confirmed its functionality. © 2024 University of Split, FESB.

The development of autonomous driving (Ad) algorithms and their testing would be very expensive when real-world vehicles and environments would be used from the very beginning of development. That is why in the initial development phases simulators are often used, in which it is possible to achieve realistic simulations of the real world. Therefore, many different simulators for Ad have been developed. one of the main tasks of a fully autonomous vehicle is steering angle prediction (SAP). This paper explores SAP using a PilotNet CNN-based algorithm that recognizes essential features from input images to predict vehicle trajectory. After training on real-world images, the algorithm's performance is evaluated in both CARLA and AirSim simulators, achieving 91.65% autonomy in CARLA and 71.87% in AirSim. The algorithm is further trained on the images obtained from the simulator, resulting in improved performance of 96.34% in CARLA and 78.99% in AirSim in terms of total autonomy. The study demonstrates the benefits of simulators for the development of Ad algorithms and highlights the importance of testing in multiple simulators to achieve reliable performance across different environments and scenarios, including different lighting and weather conditions, types of road markings, and track configurations. The paper also highlights the advantages and disadvantages of individual simulators, which can be useful for the development and testing of future SAP algorithms. © 2023 University of Split, FESB.

Unmanned aerial vehicle surveying of the riverbed enables detailed mapping of the river flow, which is useful for various purposes such as flood management, ecosystem monitoring and geological processes. Unmanned aerial vehicles are used to collect data on water height, flow velocity and bed shape, creating precise maps of river systems. This process can be fast, efficient and safe for operators, and is therefore increasingly used in scientific research and water resource management. Riverbed surveying can be done with a LidAR (Light detection and Ranging/Laser scanning) camera which collects visual data on the condition of the riverbed, such as changes in shape, erosion and sedimentation. LidAR cameras, also known as side-scan sonar, use sound signals to collect data on the depth and shape of the riverbed and create a precise 3d map of the riverbed. This process enables a detailed analysis of the river system and is useful for water resource management and environmental protection. The paper will give an overview of the methods and technologies that are currently relevant for the implementation of such recordings.
