This paper proposes a low cost three-phase power quality meter. Due to its characteristics, the meter can be applied for residential or small businesses use. The proposed device uses the power definitions from IEEE Standard 1459-2010. Moreover, it calculates the true rms value, the individual harmonics, and the voltage unbalanced factor. In order to validate the power quality meter, simulations and experimental results are presented. The results are presented on a web page that can be accessed by any device with internet access.

This paper presents three-phase converter topologies for four-wire systems. The converters are series connected by three-phase transformers with accessible neutral. They possess a common dc-link, which is the power supply of the system, and two or more converters, where one of them is connected directly to the ac system, and the others cascaded through three-phase transformers. The three-phase transformers have turn ratios that are calculated in order to maximize the number of levels produced by the inverters. The Level-Shifted Pulse Width Modulation technique is developed for two and three cascaded converters, and a control system is used to set the electrical grid currents on desired values. Simulation and experimental results are exposed for configurations with two cascaded converters, each one with either three or four legs.

An unidirectional single-phase three-wire rectifier is proposed in this paper. Such a proposed topology is composed of a non-controlled leg, two controlled legs and a capacitor bank. A suitable model and control strategy of the system, including a synchronization method, are proposed as well. The synchronization method, associated with the PWM strategy, imposes the grid currents to have the same phase angle of the generated voltages by rectifier. This method ensures sinusoidal grid currents and mitigate the zero-crossover distortions normally caused by the use of diodes. A comprehensive comparison with two conventional configurations is also presented in this paper. Simulation and experimental results are also presented for validation purposes.

At the Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe determining accident-prone areas on roads in Lhokseumawe still using manual systems. Determination of accident-prone areas are less effective because the police Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe just using the data of the last year and had to repeatedly calculate manually accident-prone areas based on the number of human casualties. In this study the system implementation CUSUM method (Cummulative Summary) to determine the accident-prone areas designed using the web-based programming language PHP. In this system there are three processes to determine areas prone to accidents, the accident rate calculations based on the weighted severity, blacksite calculations using the Z-Score method for determining areas prone to accident blackspots and calculations using the CUSUM method to determine the critical points of an accident. The data used are secondary data obtained from the Police Unit Laka Lantas Polres Lhokseumawe years 2009-2013.

This paper shows the building of an embedded Asterisk platform as a key technique for providing Information Technology classes with an extra laboratorial environment for learning Voice over Internet Protocol. Besides building the platform, the students are asked to mount a functional telephony system with it that meets the criteria of low cost, low building complexity and high adaptability to convergent networks. The Raspberry PI version B was the board used to provide portability for the students to work outside the laboratory environment. Asterisk was presented as a useful tool on which the students could create a flexible system that could be easily deployed on convergent networks. This work was developed in the Telephony subject for the electricalengineering and the Telecommunications Systems undergraduate courses from the Federal Institute of Education, science and Technology of Paraíba - IFPB, and presented good results in the students' learning achievements.

This paper proposes a hybrid multilevel topology for Open-End stator Winding (OEW) induction motor drive based on Modular Multilevel Cascade Inverter (MMCI) with Double-Star Chopper-Cells (DSCC) and 2-Level Voltage Source Inverter (2L-VSI). An efficient Voltage Reference Technique is proposed to generate the pole voltages of both inverters. As a result, the DSCC inverter is commanded in high-switching frequency, while the 2L-VSI operates at the fundamental frequency. A voltage-balancing control of the floating DC capacitors of the DSCC is presented to ensure the energy balance. At last, to investigate the proposed system and control strategy, experimental results are presented.

Background: Experimental and epidemiological studies indicate an association between exposure to particulate matter (PM) air pollution and increased risk of type 2 diabetes. In view of the high and increasing prevalence of diabetes, we aimed to quantify the burden of type 2 diabetes attributable to PM2·5 originating from ambient and household air pollution. Methods: We systematically compiled all relevant cohort and case-control studies assessing the effect of exposure to household and ambient fine particulate matter (PM2·5) air pollution on type 2 diabetes incidence and mortality. We derived an exposure–response curve from the extracted relative risk estimates using the MR-BRT (meta-regression—Bayesian, regularised, trimmed) tool. The estimated curve was linked to ambient and household PM2·5 exposures from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2019, and estimates of the attributable burden (population attributable fractions and rates per 100 000 population of deaths and disability-adjusted life-years) for 204 countries from 1990 to 2019 were calculated. We also assessed the role of changes in exposure, population size, age, and type 2 diabetes incidence in the observed trend in PM2·5-attributable type 2 diabetes burden. All estimates are presented with 95% uncertainty intervals. Findings: In 2019, approximately a fifth of the global burden of type 2 diabetes was attributable to PM2·5 exposure, with an estimated 3·78 (95% uncertainty interval 2·68–4·83) deaths per 100 000 population and 167 (117–223) disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) per 100 000 population. Approximately 13·4% (9·49–17·5) of deaths and 13·6% (9·73–17·9) of DALYs due to type 2 diabetes were contributed by ambient PM2·5, and 6·50% (4·22–9·53) of deaths and 5·92% (3·81–8·64) of DALYs by household air pollution. This paper presents a new way for automatic detection of SSVEPs through correlation analysis between tensor models. 3-way EEG tensor of channel x frequency x time is decomposed into constituting factor matrices using PARAFAC model. PARAFAC analysis of EEG tensor enables us to decompose multichannel EEG into constituting temporal, spectral and spatial signatures. SSVEPs characterized with localized spectral and spatial signatures are then detected exploiting a correlation analysis between extracted signatures of the EEG tensor and the corresponding simulated signatures of all target SSVEP signals. The SSVEP that has the highest correlation is selected as the intended target. Two flickers blinking at 8 and 13 Hz were used as visual stimuli and the detection was performed based on data packets of 1 second without overlapping. Five subjects participated in the experiments and the highest classification rate of 83.34% was achieved, leading to the Information Transfer Rate (ITR) of 21.01 bits/min.
