This paper gives an idea of how to utilize the processor-in-the-loop (PIL) and reduce the development time. The rapid advancement of the computer system and user interactive software empowers the lot of simulation software which are available for technical applications. In this paper, the simple mathematical formulations using simulation block sets are formed. The simulated mathematical formulations are transformed into embedded C code. The generated code is launched into the embedded processor. The communication link between host PC and target processor is formed to view real-time variation where part of the simulation runs in PC and part in processor. The simulation results are compared with launched program executed by the processor. This approach unified the designer with a program and reduced the core technical manpower effort, simultaneously increases more functionality to test the program in processor. The simulation platform is used as MATLAB and Simulink, and STM32F4 Discovery board is used as a target to launch the program in processor. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2017.

Sentiment analysis is all about opinion mining. Analyze emotions, characteristics and opinions of users about any products, topics, or problem. For the public opinion, internet is becoming a spreading and very wide platform where online forums, social sites, blogs and other sites contains opinion and review of people in form of comments and posted messages. Now a days the knowledge obtained from these sites, blogs and comments and poster is very useful for marketing research. In these process to detect online trending forum, In first phase emotional polarity of poster messages is calculated and in second phase trending forums are identified using clustering method i.e. EM (Expectation Maximization) and different classification methods i.e. SVM, PSO-SVM, Naïve Bayes, Random forest. In this research paper, emotional polarity of poster comments calculated by Lexicon approach of sentiment analysis using python script. After that trending forums are identified by two approaches EM clustering and Random Forest classification technique gives better result than previous approaches to detect trending forum.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to initiate researches in the direction of integrating knowledge management (KM) principles with ISO 9001:2008 Supported Quality System and motivate the practitioners to implement such integrated system in real-time practice. Design/methodology/approach - The principles of KM were integrated with the five major clauses of ISO 9001:2000 standard. After designing this integrated system, it was subjected to peripheral implementation study in a government-managed company situated in India. The knowledge portal required for maintaining this integrated system was also developed. Findings - ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 9001:2000 standards rest on the same process-based quality system model which is comprised of five major clauses. Hence, the integrated system proposed in this paper can be utilized by the contemporary organizations to infuse KM principles in ISO 9001:2008 based quality system. Research limitations/implications - Though the integrated system designed in this research could not be implemented in a full-fledged manner, the experiences gained have been useful to indicate the future direction of research and practice for integrating KM principles with ISO 9001:2008 Supported Quality System. Practical implications - A roadmap has been evolved to guide the practitioners to implement Knowledge Managed ISO 9001:2008 Supported Quality System. Originality value - No researcher or practitioner has so far contributed a model integrating the process-based quality system incorporated in ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 9001:2008 standards with KM principles. Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to conceptualize the integration of total productive maintenance (TPM) and ISO 9001 certification by contributing a model named as TPM 9001:2008. Design/methodology/approach - In the beginning of the paper, the origin, growth and capabilities of TPM and ISO 9001 certification in enabling the organizations to perform at world class level are appraised by citing research outcomes reported in literature arena. The information and knowledge thus gathered from literature arena are used to conceptualize TPM 9001:2008 model. Through this conceptualization, the eight TPM pillars are fitted into the five major clauses of ISO 9001:2008 standard. In order to illustrate this conceptualization, the contents of a sub-clause of TPM 9001:2008 model are presented and the rationale behind designating it is appraised. Findings - TPM 9001:2008 model brings out synergy from the two renowned world class strategies namely "TPM" and "ISO 9001 certification". Practical implications - The paper points out that the practical validity of TPM 9001:2008 model shall be established by conducting real time case studies in various organizations. Originality/value - This paper presents a unique approach for integrating TPM elements with ISO 9001:2008 standard based quality management system, as a single framework benefiting the contemporary organizations. © Emerald Group Publishing Limited.

Nanoparticles of semiconductor TiO2, zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4) and ZnFe2O4-TiO2 composite, were synthesized by auto combustion route. Subsequent characterization of synthesized photocatalysts was carried out by X-ray powder diffractometry, transmission electron microscopy, UV-Vis-Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy to study the structural and textural properties. The specific surface area, pore diameter and pore volume of synthesized materials were investigated by N2 adsorption analysis while the presence of TiO2 in the composite material was verified by infrared spectral analysis. The photocatalytic activity of synthesized photocatalysts was evaluated by degradation of nitrobenzene (NB) in aqueous medium under irradiation of ultraviolet light. The result revealed that 77, 73 and 70% of NB was degraded using TiO2, ZnFe2O4 and ZnFe2O4-TiO2 photocatalysts after 4h in the presence of UV irradiation. The composite photocatalyst was found easy to separate from the treated solution.

A good biquad filter, from practical point of view, should be capable of controlling the poles and zeros independently. In other words, it should be able to control pole frequency and pole Q and the type of generic filter independently. This calls for the control over the numerator and denominator coefficients by independent elements. Such circuits can then be programmed digitally. From economic fabrication point of view the biquad should use as small silicon area on the chip as possible. This is possible by reducing the total capacitance and/or resistance and number of OAs and time-multiplexing the components. The aim of this paper is to present two such biquads which meet the above requirements.

Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to report a literature review which was conducted to trace the quality journeys occurring in industrial and educational scenarios. Design/methodology/approach - First, the literature was reviewed to trace the efforts made to implement quality models in industrial scenarios. Quality models include International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 9000 certification, Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award (MBNQA), Deming Prize and European Quality Award (EQA). Next, the literature was reviewed to trace the quality journey being undertaken in an engineering educational scenario. Findings - Modern engineering Educational Institutions (EEIs) are required to first accredit their programs by following Accreditation Board for engineering and technology (ABET)-based stipulations. Then, these EEIs have to strive to implement quality models. Research limitations/implications - Because of the low volume of research conducted, relatively very few papers dealing with ABET and quality models could be reviewed. However, the exhaustive review of most of these papers has overcome this limitation. Practical implications - First, modern EEIs should gain accreditation to ABET and then strive to obtain quality models. This endeavour would make fresh engineers employable in industrial scenarios. Originality/value - It appears that no researcher has so far attempted to examine the implementation of quality models in an engineering educational scenario. In this context, the results of the literature review reported in this paper could be utilized while implementing quality models in EEIs via ABET-based accredited programs. © 2012 Emerald Group Publishing Limited. The world's manufacturing community has been questing for ways to face the onslaught of competition. One of those ways is the adoption of agile manufacturing (AM) paradigm. AM paradigm enables a company to quickly respond to the customers' dynamic demands. In order to implement AM paradigm, a model named "model for enhancing total agility level" (METAL) is proposed in this paper. METAL enunciates the assessing of the total agility level (TAL), identifying the weak AM criteria and subsequently strengthening them. The practicality of METAL has been explored in an air dryer manufacturing company. During this case study, refrigeration air dryer was considered as AM capable product. After assessment, three weak AM criteria were identified. Proposals were drawn to strengthen these three weak AM criteria. These proposals envisage the strengthening of the weak AM criteria through the removal of nonvalue adding activities, utilization of mathematical models, and creation of web portal. The reassessment has indicated the possibility of enhancing the TAL value in the above company through the implementation of these proposals. The experience of carrying out this research has revealed that the deployment of METAL would facilitate the contemporary companies to systematically infuse AM paradigm and enhance their TAL values. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

The Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM) is increasingly popular in power quality application. The Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) based STATCOM is used for eliminating current harmonics and compensating reactive power. This VSI draw or supply a compensating current from the utility such that it cancels current harmonics on the AC side. STATCOM generates a current wave such that it compensate by cancelling out the non-linear current waveform generateted by load. In this paper hysteresis controller based STATCOM is proposed. The STATCOM modeled using Simulink of MATLAB. Simulation result of 6 pulse VSI based STATCOM validate current control strategy to prevent harmonics current and compensate reactive power. ©2011 IEEE.
