Chinese short text similarity computation stands as a pivotal task within natural language processing, garnering significant attention. However, existing models grapple with limitations in handling intricate semantic relationships, such as the challenge of discerning subtle semantic nuances in text, inadequacies in effectively integrating diverse levels of semantic information, and the struggle to capture polysemous meanings accurately. In addressing these issues, this paper introduces an innovative Chinese short text similarity computation model, SMGC-SBERT. This model addresses shortcomings of the existing models by employing a multi-module fusion strategy, thereby enabling a more precise measurement of semantic similarity between texts. Primarily, the model incorporates SAT embedding to acquire phrase-level semantic information and leverages the MS-BERT model to encode text, improving the model's comprehension of textual polysemy and obtaining richer semantic representation. Then, the fusion of module features, including multi-branch convolutional networks and mix pooling, enables the extraction of textual features from varied levels, bolstering the model's representational capacity. Additionally, to further reduce overfitting risks while improving accuracy and other performance, a multi-layer feature adjustment network is utilized for short text similarity calculation. The final resultant experimental findings showcase the superiority of the SMGC-SBERT model over other neural network models, demonstrating significant advancements across both Chinese-SNLI and CCKS2018_Task3 Chinese short text datasets. © 2024 IEEE.

Realizability of Rectangular Euler Diagrams

Euler diagrams are a tool for the graphical representation of set relations. Due to their simple way of visualizing elements in the sets by geometric containment, they are easily readable by an inexperienced reader. Euler diagrams where the sets are visualized as aligned rectangles are of special interest. In this work, we link the existence of such rectangular Euler diagrams to the order dimension of an associated order relation. For this, we consider Euler diagrams in one and two dimensions. In the one-dimensional case, this correspondence provides us with a polynomial-time algorithm to compute the Euler diagrams, while the two-dimensional case is linked to an NP-complete problem which we approach with an exponential-time *** Codes 06A07, 68R05 Copyright © 2024, The Authors. Conceptual Exploration is a sophisticated method for the interactive and structured acquisition of knowledge from experts. It is therefore particularly suitable for the use in hybrid settings where both humans and AIs act as experts. This article provides a brief summary of how conceptual exploration can be used in the context of Hybrid Human AI systems, as discussed within a tutorial during the third HHAI conference in Malmö, Sweden. We will recapitulate two small experiments that were carried out with the participants of the tutorial and their results. Finally, we give some pointers on how this promising link can be further researched. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Chatbot-based tools are becoming pervasive in multiple domains from commercial websites to rehabilitation applications. Only recently, an eleven-item satisfaction inventory was developed (the ChatBot Usability Scale, BUS-11) to help designers in the assessment process of their systems. The BUS-11 has been validated in multiple contexts and languages, i.e., English, German, Dutch, and Spanish. This scale forms a solid platform enabling designers to rapidly assess chatbots both during and after the design process. The present work aims to adapt and validate the BUS-11 inventory in Italian. A total of 1360 questionnaires were collected which related to a total of 10 Italian chatbot-based systems using the BUS-11 inventory and also using the lite version of the Usability Metrics for User eXperience for convergent validity purposes. The Italian version of the BUS-11 was adapted in terms of the wording of one item, and a Multi-group Confirmatory Factorial Analysis was performed to establish the factorial structure of the scale and compare the effects of the wording adaptation. Results indicate that the adapted Italian version of the scale matches the expected factorial structure of the original scale. ChatGPT, an AI-based chatbot, offers coherent and useful replies based on analysis of large volumes of data. In this article, leading academics, scientists, distinguish researchers and engineers discuss the transformative effects of ChatGPT on modern education. This research discusses ChatGPT capabilities and its use in the education sector, identifies potential concerns and challenges. Our preliminary evaluation shows that ChatGPT perform differently in different subject areas including finance, coding, maths, and general public queries. While ChatGPT has the ability to help educators by creating instructional content, offering suggestions and acting as an online educator to learners by answering questions, transforming education through smartphones and IoT gadgets, and promoting group work, there are clear drawbacks in its use, such as the possibility of producing inaccurate or false data and circumventing duplicate content (plagiarism) detectors where originality is essential. The often reported "hallucinations" within GenerativeAI in general, and also relevant for ChatGPT, can render its use of limited benefit where accuracy is essential. What ChatGPT lacks is a stochastic measure to help provide sincere and sensitive communication with its users. Academic regulations and evaluation practices used in educational institutions need to be updated, should ChatGPT be used as a tool in education. To address the transformative effects of ChatGPT on the learning environment, educating teachers and students alike about its capabilities and limitations will be crucial. © 2023 The Authors

In recent times, water quality monitoring, observing, and testing have become a significant research study with the advancement on the Internet of Things, and Big data analytics research ideas. The relationship between water demand and supply is very crucial for every country and is likewise a complex challenge to satisfy this requirement around the world. Water is compulsory for human survival being on the earth. Therefore, for survival, the preservation and taking care of the existing water resource are also equally substantial. Moreover, for a healthier society, access to clean and safe water resources is also imperative. To recognize the water quality effects and provide an automated water quality mentoring and a testing system can support in guaranteeing the safety of the water. This paper presents a study on water quality analysis using IoT and Big data analytics. Drawing Order Diagrams Through Two-Dimension Extension

Ordinal real-world data such as concept hierarchies, ontologies, genealogies, or task dependencies in scheduling often has the property to not only contain pairwise comparable, but also incomparable elements. Order diagrams provide an important tool for understanding and thus discovering knowledge in such data. Easily readable drawings of such order diagrams are hard to come by, even for small ordered sets. Many attempts were made to transfer classical graph drawing approaches to order diagrams. Although these methods produce satisfying results for some ordered sets, they unfortunately perform poorly in general. In this work, we present the novel algorithm DimDraw to decompose an ordered set (e.g., a concept hierarchy) in linear orders and to produce a corresponding order diagram. This algorithm is based on a relation between the dimension of an ordered set and the bipartiteness of its transitive incompatibility graph. To evaluate the quality of the algorithm, a user study was conducted where generated drawings were compared with ones from state-of-the-art drawing algorithms. © 2023 Brown University. Detecting brain tumours is complex due to the natural variation in their location, shape, and intensity in images. While having accurate detection and segmentation of brain tumours would be beneficial, current methods still need to solve this problem despite the numerous available approaches. Precise analysis of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is crucial for detecting, segmenting, and classifying brain tumours in medical diagnostics. Magnetic Resonance Imaging is a vital component in medical diagnosis, and it requires precise, efficient, careful, efficient, and reliable image analysis techniques. The authors developed a Deep Learning (DL) fusion model to classify brain tumours reliably. Deep Learning models require large amounts of training data to achieve good results, so the researchers utilised data augmentation techniques to increase the dataset size for training models. VGG16, ResNet50, and convolutional deep belief networks networks extracted deep features from MRI images. Softmax was used as the classifier, and the training set was supplemented with intentionally created MRI images of brain tumours in addition to the genuine ones. The features of two DL models were combined in the proposed model to generate a fusion model, which significantly increased classification accuracy. An openly accessible dataset from the internet was used to test the model's performance, and the experimental results showed that the proposed fusion model achieved a classification accuracy of 98.98%. Finally, the results were compared with existing methods, and the proposed model outperformed them significantly.

This research presents the HardnessTesterV app- a web application for predicting the Vicker hardness of Laser welded Metallic alloy using Flask API, HTML, and CSS to build the front end and back end. Vickers hardness is an important property in the manufacturing industry, and predicting it accurately is vital for material selection and design. The Web application takes some of the important processing parameters as the input features and uses a random forest Machine learning model to predict its Vickers hardness. Flask API was used to create a RESTful interface that provides a user-friendly platform for users to submit the combinations of the processing parameters and receive predictions. HTML and CSS were used to design the front end of the web application to provide a visually appealing interface for users. The application was deployed on a PythonAnywhere cloud server, making it easily accessible to users. The application was deployed on a cloud server, making it easily accessible to users worldwide. The accuracy of the predictions was evaluated using various metrics and the results showed that the developed model can accurately predict the Vickers hardness of metallic alloys. HardnessTesterV web app measures the Vickers hardness of 2507 Duplex stainless steel material. The web application is expected to be a valuable tool for engineers and researchers in the manufacturing industry for material selection and design.

The paper reports on an early iteration of a Design science effort for defining a business process analytics method. The method hybridizes explicitly engineered knowledge and implicit knowledge, as it streamlines the following ingredients: BPMN modeling, semantic linking and the transformation of models into RDF graphs, natural language processing and network analysis applied on the resulting graph repository. The engineered knowledge comes in the form of a BPMN implementation that can transform diagrams into RDF, whereas the implicit knowledge is derived from analytic measures (similarity metrics, network analysis) that further annotate the graphs obtained from models, enabling richer semantic queries and filtering possibilities for Business Process Management use cases. The originating problem context consists of contract management and project management scenarios from which use cases will be exemplified. The proposed method is deployable as an orchestration of tools: the BEE-UP modeling environment, GraphDB for storage and Python libraries (rdflib, nltk, networkx) for processing the graphs and running the annotating analytics. © 2023 CEUR-WS.
