Multi-Label Truth Inference for Crowdsourcing Using Mixture Models

When acquiring labels from crowdsourcing platforms, a task may be designed to include multiple labels and the values of each label may belong to a set of various distinct options, which is the so-called multi-class multi-label annotation. To improve the quality of labels, requesters usually let one task be independently completed by a group of heterogeneous crowdsourced workers. Then, the true values of the multiple labels of each task are inferred from these repeated noisy labels. In this paper, we propose two novel probabilistic models MCMLI and MCMLD to address the multi-class multi-label inference problem in crowdsourcing. MCMLI assumes that the labels of each task are mutually independent and MCMLD utilizes a mixture of multiple independently multinoulli distributions to capture the correlation among the labels. Both models can jointly infer multiple true labels of each instance as well as estimate the reliability of crowdsourced workers modeled by a set of confusion matrices with an expectation-maximization algorithm. Experiments with three typical crowdsourcing scenarios and a real-world dataset show that our proposed models significantly outperform existing competitive alternatives. When the labels are strongly correlated, MCMLD substantially outperforms MCMLI. Furthermore, our models can be easily simplified to the one-coin models, which show more advantageous when errors are uniformly distributed, or labels are sparse. © 1989-2012 IEEE.

WiFi Channel State Information (CSI)-based gesture recognition offers unique advantages, including cost-effectiveness and enhanced privacy protection, and has garnered significant attention in recent years. However, existing WiFi-based gesture recognition solutions exhibit poor generalization ability when deployed in new environment, orientation, or location. Although some methods combine labeled source domain and unlabeled target domain to learn domain-independent features, factors such as data privacy protection hinder access to source data during practical environment adaptation. Consequently, we consider realistic scenario where source data is unavailable during adaptation of unlabeled test data, and instead, a trained source domain model is used. In this paper, we propose Wi-SFDAGR, a WiFi-based Source-free Domain Adaptation Gesture Recognition framework. Specifically, we treat cross-domain as an unsupervised clustering problem, aiming to ensure that features within local neighborhoods exhibit similar prediction results while those farther apart display different prediction outcomes in the feature space. We theoretically analyze the effect of enhanced prediction consistency between neighbor points extracted from gestures on generalization error. Furthermore, we employ an attraction-dispersion network to strengthen prediction consistency among closely located features in the feature space while reducing it for distantly located features. To mitigate noise introduced during nearest neighbor sample selection in the feature space (where predictions may not align with the input sample’s prediction), we progressively improve nearby sample feature aggregation by estimating uncertainty to reweight local neighborhood predictions. Finally, extensive experiments are conducted on the Widar 3.0 and XRF55 datasets and the results show our proposed framework outperforms most cross-domain methods. © 2014 IEEE.

In the paper, we investigate the secure communication of multiple-input single-output (MISO) systems with multiple eavesdroppers. We jointly design the beamforming (BF) and the artificial noise (AN) in MISO systems with multiple eavesdroppers to enhance the secrecy rate. Furthermore, under the secrecy interrupt constraint, we obtain the calculation formulas of the secrecy interrupt probability and the optimal secrecy rate. The simulation results demonstrate that AN with a higher dimension can effectively obstruct eavesdroppers and enhance the system's optimal secrecy rate. In addition, it is proved that the 1/4 full-dimension AN's secrecy rate close to that of the full-dimension AN in the system with multiple eavesdroppers, allowing the trade-off between system secrecy performance and artificial noise design complexity to be realized. © 2023 IEEE.

Toward Big-data Sharing: A Unified Trusted Remote Attestation Scheme based on Blockchain

The rapid expansion of the Internet of Things (IoT) has brought forth new challenges and opportunities in securely managing and sharing vast amounts of data generated by connected devices. Blockchain technology, with its decentralization, tamper-resistance, and traceability, offers a promising framework for IoT data sharing but struggles to safeguard smart contracts and sensitive data. Integrating Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) with blockchain addresses these concerns, enabling secure execution and communication via remote attestation. However, existing remote attestation methods face challenges, including incompatibility across heterogeneous TEEs, inefficiency under frequent authentication, and vulnerability to DoS attacks. To tackle these, we propose a blockchain-based unified remote attestation scheme for IoT. Our three-tier blockchain architecture–comprising a Certificate Authority (CA) channel, an authoritative channel, and a business channel–separates authentication, attestation, and operations while ensuring auditability. An abstraction layer supports heterogeneous TEEs, and an authoritative blockchain stores authentication reports, enabling secure, frequent attestations. Additionally, a distributed CA system enhances resilience to DoS attacks. Experimental results validate our scheme’s efficiency and security, offering a robust solution for IoT data sharing. © 2014 IEEE.

This paper studies the tracking control problem of the T-S fuzzy switched systems with the α-dissipativity and the bumpless transfer *** on the reference system,the fuzzy tracking controller will be designed by using the parallel distributed compensation *** sufficient conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities are obtained to guarantee the adissipative tracking bumpless transfer performance via the co-design of the bumpless transfer controller and the state-dependent switching law,even if the tracking problem of each fuzzy subsystems is not ***,an example is given to validate the effectiveness of the results.

An intelligent solar flare prediction model based on X-ray flux curves using Long Short-Term Memory

Solar flares are violent solar outbursts which have a great influence on the space environment surrounding Earth,potentially causing disruption of the ionosphere and interference with the geomagnetic field,thus causing magnetic ***,it is very important to accurately predict the time period of solar *** paper proposes a flare prediction model,based on physical images of active solar *** employ X-ray flux curves recorded directly by the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite,used as input data for the model,allowing us to largely avoid the influence of accidental errors,effectively improving the model prediction efficiency.A model based on the X-ray flux curve can predict whether there will be a flare event within 24 *** reverse can also be verified by the peak of the X-ray flux curve to see if a flare has occurred within the past 24 *** True Positive Rate and False Positive Rate of the prediction model,based on physical images of active regions are 0.6070 and 0.2410 respectively,and the accuracy and True Skill Statistics are 0.7590 and *** model can effectively improve prediction efficiency compared with models based on the physical parameters of active regions or magnetic field records,providing a simple method for solar flare prediction.

Recently,the Third Pole(TP)region has experienced rapid environmental *** data are essential for hydrometeorological and ecological applications but still have large uncertainties on the TP owing to the heterogeneous land surface,complex terrain,and sparse weather *** this study,a long-term(1979–2020)high-resolution(1/30°)meteorological forcing dataset for the TP(TPMFD)was developed,as a sister to the widely used China Meteorological Forcing dataset(CMFD).The TPMFD comprises seven components necessary for driving land surface *** have previously contributed precipitation and downward shortwave radiation data for the TPMFD,and this study presents the development of five other components and focuses on validations for all ***,2-meter air temperature,2-meter specific humidity,10-meter wind speed,and surface air pressure were generated by combining the fifth-generation atmospheric reanalysis for European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts(ERA5),a short-term high-resolution atmospheric simulation,and in situ observations,and the downward longwave radiation was calculated using semi-physical *** cross-validation and independent-validation demonstrated that most variables in the developed dataset outperformed those in widely used reanalysis datasets,including ERA5,ERA5-Land,and the Global Land data Assimilation System(GLDAS).This dataset is expected to be beneficial for climate analyses and modeling applications of land-surface processes on the TP.

RGB-thermal semantic segmentation is a potential solution for reliable semantic scene understanding under adverse weather and complex lighting conditions. However, past studies have primarily focused on the design of fusion paradigms. Unfortunately, these methods have not fully considered the modality differences caused by different imaging mechanisms, thereby reducing the performance of pixel-level semantic analysis. In response to this issue, this paper proposes an innovative Cross-Modality Comprehensive Feature Aggregation Network (CFANet). This method first designs a Cross-Modality Feature Rectification Module (CFRM) to align modality differences;then, it constructs a Global-Local Fusion Module (GLF) to sharpen object edges and refine the segmentation map. Results on two urban scene understanding datasets demonstrate that CFANet can effectively aggregate multi-layer deep features and outperform existing advanced deep learning methods in scene understanding performance. © 2024 IEEE.

Aiming at optimizing the energy consumption of HVAC,an energy conservation optimization method was proposed for HVAC systems based on the sensitivity analysis(SA),named the sensitivity analysis combination method(SAC).Based on the SA,neural network and the related settings about energy conservation of HVAC systems,such as cooling water temperature,chilled water temperature and supply air temperature,were ***,based on the data of the existing HVAC system,various optimal control methods ofHVAC systems were tested and evaluated by a simulated HVAC system in *** results show that the proposed SA combination method can reduce significant computational load while maintaining an equivalent energy performance compared with traditional optimal control methods.
