In the field of computational intelligence and data analytics, the detection of fake food reviews has emerged as a pressing challenge, exacerbated by the widespread use of social media. These fraudulent reviews, particularly prevalent in the food and beverage industry, distort consumer decision-making and disrupt market fairness. To address this, we propose GMF-R, an innovative multimodal fusion framework based on Graph Attention Network (GAT), designed to effectively detect fake food reviews. The framework features end-to-end trainability and introduces advanced multimodal feature processing mechanisms, including fine-grained cross-modal interactions, a shared feature space, and multimodal graph construction. By utilizing GAT, GMF-R can adaptively assign attention weights to key nodes and accurately capture complex inter-modal relationships. Experimental results demonstrate that GMF-R achieves a 97.4% accuracy rate and a 98.1% F1 score on the Yelp reviews website dataset, significantly outperforming previous state-of-the-art models. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

Batik is a cultural heritage of Indonesia, recognized by WHO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage. Batik is dyed by skilled craftsmen who make patterns with dots and lines on the fabric from melted wax. The process is complicated, so few people can experience all the steps in crafting Batik. From these problems, immersive learning media are needed so everyone can learn and gain experience in Batik crafting from start to finish. In this study, we will present Nge-BatikVR, a serious game application that introduces Batik through Virtual Reality and offers an immersive experience of learning Batik from various regions with interactive hands-on feature aimed at people to better understand and learn Batik. Nge-BatikVR offers four main features called Sinau (Learn), Kuis (Quiz), Nge-Batik (Simulation) and Toko (Shopping), with the main purpose to present interactive and engaging media useful for introducing and learning Batik with a fully immersive experience. © 2023 IEEE.

Large Multimodal Models (LMMs) have achieved strong performance across a range of vision and language tasks. However, their spatial reasoning capabilities are under-investigated. In this paper, we construct a novel VQA dataset, Spatial-MM, to comprehensively study LMMs' spatial understanding and reasoning capabilities. Our analyses on object-relationship and multi-hop reasoning reveal several important findings. Firstly, bounding boxes and scene graphs, even synthetic ones, can significantly enhance LMMs' spatial reasoning. Secondly, LMMs struggle more with questions posed from the human perspective than the camera perspective about the image. Thirdly, chain of thought (CoT) prompting does not improve model performance on complex multi-hop questions involving spatial relations. Lastly, our perturbation analysis on GQA-spatial reveals that LMMs are much stronger at basic object detection than complex spatial reasoning. We believe our new benchmark dataset and in-depth analyses can spark further research on LMMs spatial reasoning. © 2024 Association for Computational Linguistics.

Depressive Disorders (DD) is one of the most prevalent mental disorders in the world that may lead to suicide cases. To prevent the latter, ubiquitous early detection systems may be effective. Recent studies have since researched the development of such systems by exploiting several forms of data, including video, audio, Ecological Momentary Assessments (EMA), and passive sensing data using sensors embedded in mobile devices. To summarize the trends, opportunities, and existing challenges in this field, this study reviewed 15 papers to answer four research questions. EMA was the most popular data to be used in this task, but other approaches, such as using video, audio, and typing behaviors, may be considered due to the subjectivity of EMA. These data were typically recorded using smartphones and analyzed using Machine Learning (ML). However, most of the developed systems had yet to be implemented. Overall, it was concluded that further studies may need to explore usages of more objective data in multimodal approaches as well as consider using Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC) to deploy these systems to provide more effective and efficient diagnoses. Future studies must also take into account the existing challenges of the data and infrastructures, such as the weaknesses of several data types, limitations of mobile devices, as well as the challenges of diagnosis approaches. © 2023 IEEE.

High-dimensional linear bandits with low-dimensional structure have received considerable attention in recent studies due to their practical significance. The most common structure in the literature is sparsity. However, it may not be available in practice. Symmetry, where the reward is invariant under certain groups of transformations on the set of arms, is another important inductive bias in the high-dimensional case that covers many standard structures, including sparsity. In this work, we study high-dimensional symmetric linear bandits where the symmetry is hidden from the learner, and the correct symmetry needs to be learned in an online setting. We examine the structure of a collection of hidden symmetry and provide a method based on model selection within the collection of low-dimensional subspaces. Our algorithm achieves a regret bound of (Equation presented), where d is the ambient dimension which is potentially very large, and d0 is the dimension of the true low-dimensional subspace such that d0 d. With an extra assumption on well-separated models, we can further improve the regret to (Equation presented). © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. All rights reserved.

In high-density crowd, a unique visual motion effect called stop-and-go wave occurs, which could evolve to trampling and compression incidents. However, few computational models have been reported for stop-and-go wave perception form the angle of computer vision. On the bases of the neural structures of the locusts’ vision systems and the frequency resonance properties of the interneuronal (INs) neurons in locust’s brains, this paper investigates a bio-inspired visual neural network (sgWPNN) for stop-and-go wave perception in high-density crowd scenes. The proposed sgWPNN firstly visually stabilizes the image frames;and then converts the spatial intensity visual information to the frequency domain for extracting crowd’s motion cues;finally, sgWPNN output membrane potential impulses to identify the occurring of stop-and-go wave in the field of view. Videos filmed high-density crowd activities in two scenarios demonstrate the effectiveness of sgWPNN in the perception against to the unique stop-and-go wave effect in moving crowd scenes. This work discusses the biological inspired processing of dynamic visual information in crowd activity perception, which can provide some new ideas for crowd activity detection and behavior analysis. © 2025 SPIE.

Sentiment analysis is still in its developing era, and sometimes, struggles are faced in evaluating user sentiment due to the use of traditional models to analyze the relationship structures in social media interactions. To tackle the issue, we proposed an innovative approach Hybrid LSTM neural network and a fully connected neural network (FCNN) integrated with the Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm. The objective of this proposed method is to improve sentiment analysis by employing the LSTM to capture the sequence of data and improve the ability of FCNNs to improve feature extraction and the analysis process. The proposed system process initiated with the data preprocessing of input Twitter sentiment dataset transformed into a suitable input to the Hybrid LSTM-FCNN neural network. Then, temporal dependency of the data captured by LSTM and FCNN is used to extract the features. The GWO method mimics the grey wolf hunting behaviour, for optimizing the proposed Hybrid LSTM-FCNN model's parameters to enhance the classification accuracy. The system models start with the initialization of the model, parameters, and training the models using the dataset to reduce the cross-entropy loss, estimating the testing dataset from unseen data and fine-tuning using GWO as necessary. Results demonstrate significant improvements in sentiment categorization compared to traditional methods. The Hybrid LSTM-FCNN model, enhanced with GWO, effectively captures nuanced sentiment patterns, leading to more accurate classification. Additionally, GWO's computational efficiency contributes to scalability. In conclusion, our proposed approach offers a promising solution for enhancing product quality evaluation through advanced neural network architectures and optimization algorithms applied to social media sentiment analysis. © 2024 IEEE.

Breast and cervical cancers account for more than 85 percent of all cancer-related fatalities in developing nations, according to the World Cancer Research Fund. As a result, breast and cervical cancer have become one of the leading causes of mortality among women worldwide. This field is still in its infancy, with only a few studies in gynaecology and computer science looking into the detection of breast and cervical cancer. According to the researchers, medical records and early testing from individuals with breast and cervical cancer will be used in this study to determine the prognosis of those suffering from the diseases. To assess our cervical cancer predictions, we employed machine learning models such as Optimized Hybrid Ensemble Classifier (OHEC), which were trained on patient behavior and variables revealed to be associated with patient behavior. The datasets in this study have a substantial number of missing values, and the distribution of those values has been altered as a function of the missing values. OHEC classifier performance has been shown to improve when the number of features is reduced and the problem of high-class imbalance is resolved, because the accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of the classifier, as well as the number of false positives, were used to demonstrate the success of feature selection in the suggested model's predictive analysis. This has been demonstrated through the use of numerous tests involving categorization challenges. The study underscores the critical significance of early detection and prognosis in combating breast and cervical cancers, which remain leading causes of mortality worldwide. Through the utilization of machine learning models like the OHEC, the authors have demonstrated the potential for improved predictive accuracy and clinical outcomes. Word meanings extend over time due to a functional need for maintaining communicative expressivity within a compact lexicon. Previous scholars have suggested that word meanings extend via a process of chaining, whereby novel items link to existing ones close in semantic space. Recent work has formalized this idea using computational models grounded typically in the exemplar and prototype theories of categorization that are either memory-intensive or simplistic in representation. We propose an alternative account of chaining that optimizes cognitive efficiency by trading off representational accuracy with memory complexity. We operationalize this efficient chaining as an infinite mixture model and show how it constructs the internal representations of word meaning adaptively through time while predicting the historical development of English verb meanings with precision and limited resources. © 2022 The Author(s).
