One way to save time and resources in the human recruitment and hiring process is to post open job positions on the Internet, but the overload of applications creates challenges for hiring managers and companies to select an adequate candidate. One of the solutions is to apply intelligent tools such as Deep Learning and recommender system algorithms to speed up the hiring process and identify the right candidates. In this paper, we propose a two-fold algorithmic approach to 1) building an RNN classifier for resume classification;2) using cosine similarity for resume recommendation to find a candidate that fits job requirements best after selecting all the resumes that belong to the right category. The performance of the proposed RNN classifier is evaluated in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and confusion matrix criteria. The experiment results have shown that the RNN classifier performs better than the other classifiers such as GNB, Linear SVM, RF, and BERT on the same dataset. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2023.

Lung cancer is the most common type of cancer among males worldwide. It accounts for one of every five cancer-related fatalities and is prevalent in people aged 55 to 65. Detecting lung cancer in its earliest stages is a crucial step in the treatment process that can significantly increase the chance of survival. In this paper, we used image processing techniques with MATLAB on computed tomography (CT) images of lung cancer for multiple patients to determine the location and extent of cancerous spots. The stages included image analysis and segmentation, feature extraction, and candidate identification as distinct regions of interest (ROI). Algorithms based on machine learning were utilized to classify cancer from the ROIs of candidates by extracting the characteristics required for the classification of pathologic features from the annotated ROIs. Comparing the evaluated algorithms in order to identify the optimal algorithm for cancer detection. © 2023 IEEE.

Accurate crop yield predictions are essential for agricultural planning and food security. Traditional methods relying on historical data are enhanced by modern techniques using satellite imagery, weather data, and soil conditions. This study presents an advanced crop yield forecasting model integrating deep reinforcement learning and multi-source remote sensing data. The Hybrid Reinforcement-Supervised Learning (HRSL) model combines reinforcement learning and supervised learning for enhanced classification and decision-making. Machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques analyze historical yield data and current season variables, improving prediction accuracy. Preprocessing steps like imputation, normalization, and atmospheric correction ensure robust datasets. Feature extraction with cascaded artificial neural networks (CANN) automates the learning of complex data relationships. Implemented using Python, this methodology achieves an accuracy of 97.8%. The proposed model demonstrates superior performance in yield prediction, evaluated through rigorous accuracy, precision, and training efficiency metrics. Integrating multi-source data with advanced machine learning models offers significant benefits for precision agriculture and food security. Future work will expand these techniques to broader applications and continuously improve predictive models with evolving data and computational capabilities. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Spatio-Temporal NDVI Prediction for Rice Crop

Accurately predicting the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) is crucial for effective agricultural planning and decision-making. Despite much literature on NDVI prediction, most of these methods do not consider spatial-temporal variations. Generating a dataset for predicting NDVI is another major bottleneck, as such data needs to be collected over an extensive period. In this work, we develop a semi-automated framework to generate a comprehensive time-series dataset after necessary preprocessing using the information from Sentinel-2, POWER data Access Viewer, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE). We propose a deep learning-based model to predict NDVI based on its historical time series and meteorological and spatial information for the rice crop in India. Here, we use a Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM)-based model augmented with spatial information to predict the NDVI of the near-about region for which the data is unavailable. We compared the proposed approach with a method that uses a weighted average of nearest neighbors prediction. Also, we compare the proposed method with existing statistical techniques such as the Autoregressive (AR), AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA), and Seasonal AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (SARIMA). Functional dependencies (FDs) form a valuable ingredient for various data management tasks. However, existing methods can hardly discover practical and interpretable FDs, especially in large noisy real-life datasets. This paper studies the problem of discovering meaningful functional dependencies (FDms) that utilize support and error parameters to capture interesting dependencies in such datasets and proposes an efficient discovery algorithm called FDM?. In order to scale with large datasets, FDM ? employs an efficient sampling method with accuracy guarantees to capture the differences between tuple pairs and to quantify the connection between support/error of dependencies on samples and those on the entire dataset. Moreover, it adopts a clustering-based correlated attributes extraction to divide the exponentially large search space into multiple small sub-spaces and proposes an easy-first traversal strategy with covariance-based guidance that quickly detects candidate dependencies and validates them. Additionally, we prove a covariance lower bound as an additional pruning criterion to reduce the search space. Extensive experiments on real-life and synthetic datasets demonstrate that FDM ? is 14 times faster than existing discovery algorithms on average, up to 31 times, and scales to larger datasets with the least memory cost. © 2024 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) was evaluated as part of this study. The IoT system in this study is the air quality monitoring system. The system consists of three layers, three end devices with air quality monitoring sensors as the perception layer, the LoRaWAN network as the network layer, and the monitoring website as the presentation layer. Before being made available to the public, IoT hardware and software must undergo testing. For IoT systems, there are no established standards or quality criteria. This study's goal is to evaluate the methodology for an air quality monitoring system. Website speed is measured using Pingdom tools. The website received a performance grade of B. Pingdom offers advice for enhancing website performance. Sucuri is utilized as a security test tool to evaluate the website's security, and consequently, no malware was discovered. The latency and data dependability are monitored to assess the system's performance fully. The outcome demonstrates that all system components consistently and accurately receive data with a latency of less than 1 s. © 2023 IEEE.

Monoclonal antibodies provide targeted treatment options for various diseases. In infectious diseases, techniques like reverse vaccinology 2.0 can extract potent monoclonal antibodies from human donors. However, there is no control over the specific target to which the antibody binds. Therefore, it is crucial to thoroughly understand the characteristics of the antibody sequence to extract target information and prioritize potential candidates for further in-vitro analysis. Addressing this challenge requires integrating both in-vitro and in-silico approaches. This study aims to explore machine learning algorithms and various augmentation techniques to determine whether monoclonal antibodies bind to proteins or non-protein targets solely based on their sequence. We used oversampling, SMOTE, ESM1-b, and hallucination techniques to enhance sequence information. To the best of our knowledge, this research is the first attempt to apply machine learning methodologies to this specific classification task, resulting in an accuracy rate of 80%, and an MCC of 61%. These findings pave the way for further exploration and introduce a new approach to streamline and enhance antibody development processes. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

We propose a novel piecewise stationary linear bandit (PSLB) model, where the environment randomly samples a context from an unknown probability distribution at each changepoint, and the quality of an arm is measured by its return averaged over all contexts. The contexts and their distribution, as well as the changepoints are unknown to the agent. We design Piecewise-Stationary Ε-Best Arm Identification+ (PSΕBAI+), an algorithm that is guaranteed to identify an Ε-optimal arm with probability ≥ 1 − δ and with a minimal number of samples. PSΕBAI+ consists of two subroutines, PSΕBAI and NAÏVE Ε-BAI (NΕBAI), which are executed in parallel. PSΕBAI actively detects changepoints and aligns contexts to facilitate the arm identification process. When PSΕBAI and NΕBAI are utilized judiciously in parallel, PSΕBAI+ is shown to have a finite expected sample complexity. By proving a lower bound, we show the expected sample complexity of PSΕBAI+ is optimal up to a logarithmic factor. We compare PSΕBAI+ to baseline algorithms using numerical experiments which demonstrate its efficiency. Both our analytical and numerical results corroborate that the efficacy of PSΕBAI+ is due to the delicate change detection and context alignment procedures embedded in PSΕBAI. © 2024 Neural information processing systems foundation. Identifying gravitational waves produced by binary black hole mergers has sparked an unheard-of revolution in physics and astronomy. However, due to the low magnitudes of gravitational wave signals and the inevitability of detector noise, proper processing of gravitational wave data is in high demand. In this research, we propose a deep learning technique termed convolution neural network based on a set of time-series data from '***/datasets/andradaolteanu/g2net-gravitational-wave-dataset' that contains simulated gravitational waves with noise. This work uses a convolution neural network and Fourier transformation-based gravitational wave signal recognition model (CNN). According to experimental findings, the frequency-domain signal graph describes the gravitational wave signal's features more accurately than the time-domain signal. The signal recognition accuracy has been improved using CNN's convolutional processing. © 2023 IEEE.

Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) is a disease. Diabetic patients are mostly affected by this disease. This causes damage to the eyes. Most probably the disease affects both the back of the eye and the blood vessels of the light-sensitive. Initially, this DR disease causes only minor problems with vision. But eventually, the eyesight will go away. This condition may occur in any diabetic patient. When the disease is more affected, the blood sugar level is high. DR detection is the application of image processing to medical examinations. To diagnose DR the retinal images should be evaluated. However, it takes a lot of time and resources to physically assess the images so that the severity of the DR can be removed. The blood vessels in the retina are damaged due to this problem can be noticed. When it starts to bleed the small vessels, then it forms a way on the retina. To overcome the challenges of DR, CNN with PSO is introduced. There are different stages implicated in the diabetic retinopathy detection technique. They are pre-processing, optimization and classification. The main objective of the proposed work is to use the CNN algorithm to analyze the disease that seems to be most affected and classify and report only that area from the given input. PSO is used to optimize the given classified images, and then finally PSO with CNN technique will produce accurate results. © 2023 IEEE.
