Crop prices in India are vulnerable to environmental factors such as rainfall and temperature which can cause supply variations and price shifts. Government policies are intended to keep prices stable during severe weather occurrences. An extensive crop price prediction approach utilizing diverse machine learning techniques and encompassing features such as temperature extremes, humidity, precipitation, and probabilities is introduced in this research work. Employing algorithms including linear regression, decision trees, random forests, K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), XGBoost, and Bayesian regression, the research conducts comprehensive evaluation and comparative analysis to identify optimal techniques for crop price prediction, thereby yielding valuable insights for agricultural applications. Amid the intricacies of contemporary agricultural markets, where numerous factors influence prices, machine learning emerges as a potent tool capable of capturing intricate influences. By exploring a range of machine learning algorithms, complex relationships within data are unveiled, establishing a basis for evidence-based methodology selection. The research results heighten forecasting precision and empower stakeholders with actionable insights, facilitating informed decisions, risk mitigation, and capitalization on opportunities. This signifies a substantial stride towards the convergence of machine learning and agriculture, fostering enhanced predictive accuracy in crop price forecasting. © 2024 IEEE.

In the big data technology nowadays, activities associated with Multi-Label Classification (MLC) pose big and complex challenges, receiving terrific interest in diverse fields. Existing MLC algorithms suffer from low overall performance. This paper considers four well-known Problem Transformation Methods (PTMs). Two of these PTMs are based on the frequency of the labels (MFL and LFL) while the last two PTMs are based on the positive correlations among labels. These PTMs have been implemented and compared against four multi label datasets of various sizes to identify the best one that fits the nature of MLC datasets. Moreover, six popular ensemble learning models have been carried out and compared on the four datasets with respect to several evaluation metrics such as Accuracy, Hamming loss, and Exact Match and using SMO, DecisionStump, Random Forest, and Random Commission classifiers. The results revealed that MFL accomplished the quality performance amongst the four PTMs, and Stacking SVM is the best ensemble learning technique. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper presents an approach to joint wireless and computing resource management in slice-enabled metaverse networks, addressing the challenges of inter-slice and intra-slice resource allocation in the presence of in-network computing. We formulate the problem as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem and derive an optimal solution using standard optimization techniques. Through extensive simulations, we demonstrate that our proposed method significantly improves system performance by effectively balancing the allocation of radio and computing resources across multiple slices. Our approach outperforms existing benchmarks, particularly in scenarios with high user demand and varying computational tasks. © 2024 IEEE.

In this research, the author addresses the prevalent issues faced by users of cloud services, especially those using Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology, such as connection losses, security concerns, and poor video quality. The study does not delve into the complex problems at the data center level but instead proposes a novel Design science Research approach. This new method, tested with five clients in varied locations, utilizes port forwarding to establish a direct server-client connection, bypassing traditional P2P frameworks. The results show that this approach significantly improves quality over the P2P system. Feedback from clients before and after the experiment indicates a positive response to this new method. This research offers insights into overcoming P2P-related issues in cloud services and contributes to the development of cloud-based server science, presenting a cost-effective, independent alternative to data center-dependent P2P services, with plans for ongoing research in this area. © 2023 IEEE.

In the era of computation, researchers have paid significant attention to the nonparametric regression method. Nonparametric regression has the benefit of a high degree of modeling flexibility. Developing a mixed estimator truncated spline-Epanechnikov kernel is the most recent innovation in this study. The truncated spline estimator excels at handling data whose behavior varies at predetermined intervals. In contrast, the Epanechnikov kernel estimator has a more flexible structure and excels at modeling data that does not adhere to a particular pattern. Maximum Likelihood Estimation is utilized to estimate parameters. The concluding section of this study will discuss the estimator properties of the mixed estimators truncated spline and Epanechnikov kernel models. The proposed can be utilized for additional analysis in the field of nonparametric regression. © 2023, International Association of Engineers. All rights reserved.

Conformal prediction is a powerful tool for uncertainty quantification, but its application to time-series data is constrained by the violation of the exchangeability assumption. Current solutions for time-series prediction typically operate in the output space and rely on manually selected weights to address distribution drift, leading to overly conservative predictions. To enable dynamic weight learning in the semantically rich latent space, we introduce a novel approach called Conformalized Time Series with Semantic Features (CT-SSF). CT-SSF utilizes the inductive bias in deep representation learning to dynamically adjust weights, prioritizing semantic features relevant to the current prediction. Theoretically, we show that CT-SSF surpasses previous methods defined in the output space. Experiments on synthetic and benchmark datasets demonstrate that CT-SSF significantly outperforms existing state-of-the-art (SOTA) conformal prediction techniques in terms of prediction efficiency while maintaining a valid coverage guarantee.

The proliferation of privacy-sensitive data has spurred the development of federated learning (FL), which is an important technology for state-of-the-art machine learning and responsible AI. However, most existing FL methods are constrained in their applicability and generalizability due to their narrow focus on specific tasks. This article presents a novel federated multitask learning (FMTL) framework that is capable of acquiring knowledge across multiple tasks. To address the challenges posed by non-IID data and task imbalance in FMTL, this study proposes a federated fusion strategy based on dynamic guided attention (FedDGA), which adaptively fine-tunes local models for multiple tasks with personalized attention. In addition, this article designed dynamic batch weight (DBW) to balance the task losses and improve the convergence speed. Extensive experiments were conducted on various datasets, tasks, and settings, and the proposed method was compared with state-of-the-art methods such as FedAvg, FedProx, and SCAFFOLD. The results show that our method achieves significant performance gains, with up to 11.1% increase in accuracy over the baselines. © 2020 IEEE.

The aim of text-based person retrieval is to identify pedestrians using natural language descriptions within a large-scale image gallery. Traditional methods rely heavily on manually annotated image-text pairs, which are resource-intensive to obtain. With the emergence of Large Vision-Language Models (LVLMs), the advanced capabilities of contemporary models in image understanding have led to the generation of highly accurate captions. Therefore, this paper explores the potential of employing Large Vision-Language Models for unsupervised text-based pedestrian image retrieval and proposes a Multi-grained Uncertainty Modeling and Alignment framework (MUMA). Initially, multiple Large Vision-Language Models are employed to generate diverse and hierarchically structured pedestrian descriptions across different styles and granularities. However, the generated captions inevitably introduce noise. To address this issue, an uncertainty-guided sample filtration module is proposed to estimate and filter out unreliable image-text pairs. Additionally, to simulate the diversity of styles and granularities in captions, a multi-grained uncertainty modeling approach is applied to model the distributions of captions, with each caption represented as a multivariate Gaussian distribution. Finally, a multi-level consistency distillation loss is employed to integrate and align the multi-grained captions, aiming to transfer knowledge across different granularities. Experimental evaluations conducted on three widely-used datasets demonstrate the significant advancements achieved by our approach. © 2025, Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (***).
