Understanding the mechanistic interpretability of mutation effects in a protein can help predict the clinical implications of the genetic variants. Hence, computational variant effect predictions that involve protein structural features of the protein mutations might be suitable in this case. In this work, we focus on BRCT domains of BRCA1 gene that is widely studied in breast cancer studies. We retrieved 88 selected missense variants found in BRCT domains annotated in both ClinVar and gnomAD databases. To computationally characterize the pathogenic property of the mutations we used two types of features extracted from protein structures: a change in free Gibbs energy and a set of features derived from molecular dynamics simulations of each mutant. Using a dimensional reduction and Gaussian mixture model (GMM)-based clustering we demonstrate that the variants are segregated into two regions that may correspond to their pathogenic status. This method can be a potential computational pipeline for providing the preliminary mechanistic interpretation of mutation effects in terms of their thermodynamic and structural features. © 2023 IEEE.

In medical question-answering, traditional knowledge triples often fail due to superfluous data and their inability to capture complex relationships between symptoms and treatments across diseases. This limits models' ability to provide accurate, contextually relevant responses. To overcome this, we introduce MedEx, which employs First-Order Logic (FOL)-based reasoning to model intricate relationships between diseases and treatments. We construct FOL-based triplets that encode the interplay of symptoms, diseases, and treatments, capturing not only surface-level data but also the logical constraints of the medical domain. MedEx encodes the discourse (questions and context) using a transformer-based unit, enhancing context comprehension. These encodings are processed by a Knowledge Injection Cell that integrates knowledge graph triples via a Graph Attention Network. The Logic Fusion Cell then combines medical-specific logical rule triples (e.g., co-occurrence, causation, diagnosis) with knowledge triples and extracts answers through a feed-forward layer. Our analysis demonstrates MedEx's effectiveness and generalization across medical question-answering tasks. By merging logical reasoning with knowledge, MedEx provides precise medical answers and adapts its logical rules based on training data nuances. © 2025 Association for Computational Linguistics.

The pandemic creates a more complicated providence of medical assistance and diagnosis procedures. In the world, Covid-19, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS Cov-2), and plague are widely known pandemic disease desperations. Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic tragedies, various medical diagnosis models and intelligent computing solutions are proposed for medical applications. In this era of computer-based medical environment, conventional clinical solutions are surpassed by many Machine Learning and Deep Learning-based COVID-19 diagnosis models. Anyhow, many existing models are developing lab-based diagnosis environments. Notably, the Gated Recurrent Unit-based Respiratory data Analysis (GRU-RE), Intelligent Unmanned Aerial Vehicle-based Covid data Analysis (Thermal Images) (I-UVAC), and Convolutional Neural Network-based computer Tomography Image Analysis (CNN-CT) are enriched with lightweight image data analysis techniques for obtaining mass pandemic data at real-time conditions. However, the existing models directly deal with bulk images (thermal data and respiratory data) to diagnose the symptoms of COVID-19. Against these works, the proposed spectacle thermal image data analysis model creates an easy and effective way of disease diagnosis deployment strategies. Particularly, the mass detection of disease symptoms needs a more lightweight equipment setup. In this proposed model, each patient's thermal data is collected via the spectacles of medical staff, and the data are analyzed with the help of a complex set of capsule network functions. Comparatively, the conventional capsule network functions are enriched in this proposed model using adequate sampling and data reduction solutions. In this way, the proposed model works effectively for mass thermal data diagnosis applications. Optimized Extreme Learning Machine with Bacterial Colony Optimization Algorithm for Disease Diagnosis in Clinical datasets

Currently, the computational disease diagnostic models are mainly for approximating the non-linear complex sensitive patterns in the medical data. For the most accurate diagnostic, it is to be processed by more sophisticated algorithms. The clinical data is obtained from various clinical tests conducted on both infected and healthy individuals. It is crucial to precisely identify the presence of sickness to provide treatment promptly. Disease detection models must accurately differentiate between true positive and negative outcomes. Manual interpretations may result in either false positives or false negatives. This study aims to create a universal framework for diagnosing diseases on clinical datasets. For this scenario, the Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) is combined with the Bacterial Colony Optimization (BCO) method to boost prediction accuracy and speed up global convergence. For efficient selection of the extreme learning machine model’s optimal weights and biases, it is recommended to use the BCO algorithm's neighborhood-based communication strategy. Eight different UCI medical datasets are used to analyze the performance of the developed optimized ELM method. The experimental results showed that the suggested BCO-ELM outperformed in terms of accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, f-measure, ROC-AUC, convergence speed. It obtained approximately 5 to 10 percent maximal accuracy and f-measure than the existing traditional approaches and obtained an AUC of 0.9 to 1 on all datasets. The experimental results confirmed that the developed approach produced high classification accuracy when compared with other existing approaches. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The complexity of managing the energy and operational needs in large-scale Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) emphasizes the importance of energy-aware routing. This paper proposes an energy-efficient routing protocol that uses an intelligent node selection scheme to address energy-aware routing in the healthcare Internet of Vehicles (IoV). The protocol identifies the most suitable cluster leader based on dynamic criteria. By building on a ranking system that considers factors like location and remaining energy, the protocol selects the next intelligent node to establish the most energy-efficient route within the Internet of Things (IoT) context. The energy-aware routing scheme is tested across various clustering systems to evaluate its impact on route discovery based on system size and time. Experimental results show that the model reduces energy consumption during broadcast operations. Performance metrics such as Jitter and Packet Loss Ratio (PLR) further illustrate the protocol's energy optimization. Simulation results across diverse network conditions demonstrate the superiority of adaptive ranking and intelligent forwarder node selection over competing strategies. Overall, the proposed protocol presents a promising solution for achieving energy-efficient routing in IoV, offering insights into optimized strategies and their benefits for IoT applications. © 2025 IEEE.

The evolution of human civilization has been intrinsically linked to advancements in technology, leading to the development of multiple languages as mediums of communication. However, this linguistic diversity poses significant challenges in cross-cultural communication. Despite numerous efforts and achieving near state-of-The-Art results in language translation, a universal solution remains elusive. This research study proposes an advanced approach to machine translation by utilizing server-side machine learning to enable seamless communication across various languages. By sending GET or POST requests through JQuery, users can efficiently translate text. The process is structured into three key steps: speech recognition (conversion of spoken words to text), translation using machine learning algorithms, and speech synthesis (conversion of translated text to audio). This approach aims to enhance real-Time translation capabilities, offering a more effective and user-friendly solution for overcoming language barriers. © 2024 IEEE.

Traffic accidents are a serious problem in developing countries. These accidents can be caused by poor infrastructure and the arrogance of drivers. In addition, semi-autonomous systems are automotive technologies that have been developed in recent years and are starting to be implemented in existing vehicles. This literature review paper will mainly discuss how object detection works in semi-autonomous systems, how semi-autonomous systems operate, and whether semi-autonomous cars can reduce the number of traffic accidents. Its main objective is to build driver confidence in semi-autonomous systems by assisting in driving and supporting the development of them. In the process of writing this paper, the method we use follows the guidelines stated in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Protocols (PRISMA-P). © 2023 IEEE.

Aspect-based sentiment analysis is carried out to determine user sentiment's polarity while still considering the aspects of the discussion so that all information in the reviews can be represented. The multiclassifier in this research means that two classifiers are used, the first is an aspect classifier to perform aspect classification, and the second is a sentiment classifier to perform sentiment classification based on its aspect. Two approaches were studied according to their classification work, namely, individual model in the form of an aspect classification and sentiment classification based on the aspects individually and sequentially model by testing the aspect and sentiment models sequentially. This study evaluates the performance of Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Naïve Bayes Classifier (NBC) algorithms and their combination in sequential testing. In addition, to overcome imbalance dataset, the use of oversampling types is also compared. In the individual approach, the SVM model with random oversampling showed the best performance with average accuracy, precision, recall, and f1 score of 92%, 86%, 80%, and 83% for the aspect model and 86%, 81%, 80%, and 80% for the sentiment model, respectively. While in the sequential approach, the combination of SVM-SVM with oversampling shows the best performance with an average accuracy, precision, recall, and f1-score of 79%, 56%, 50%, and 53%, while the performance of other model combinations is only in the maximum range of 77% accuracy, 55% precision, 51% recall, and 52% f1-score. © 2024 IEEE.

Depression affects a significant number of people, and it has a significant impact not only on their lives but also on society as a whole. In light of this, we require more advanced methods that are capable of locating individuals who are depressed in a timely and accurate manner. This research investigates the effectiveness of Long Short-Term Mem- ory (LSTM) networks used in conjunction with DistilBERT, a small transformer-based model, in identifying indications of melancholy in posts made on social networking platforms. The text was cleaned up using a dataset that was obtained from Reddit, and then we used the mixed DistilBERT+LSTM model to evaluate how well it performed in comparison to the DistilBERT model by itself. The findings that we obtained indicate that both approaches produce results that are comparable but not flawless, with only slight variations in terms of accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 scores. The fact that this is the case demonstrates that there are issues with optimizing the model and displaying the data. © 2024 IEEE.
