Research has shown that visual information of multimedia is critical in highly-skilled applications, such as biomedicine and life sciences, and a certain visual reasoning process is essential for meaningful search in a timely manner. Relevant image characteristics are learned and verified with accumulated experiences during the reasoning processes. However, such processes are highly dynamic and elusive to computationally quantify and therefore challenging to analyze, let alone to make the knowledge sharable across users. In this paper we study real-time human visual reasoning processes with the aid of gaze tracking devices. Temporal and spatial representations are proposed for gaze modeling, and a visual reasoning retrieval system utilizing in-memory computing under Big data ecosystems is designed for real-time search of similar reasoning models. Simulated data derived from human subject experiments show that the system has a reasonably high accuracy and provides predictive estimations for hardware requirements versus data sizes for exhaustive searches. Comparison between various visual action classifiers show challenges in modeling visual actions. The proposed system provides a theoretical framework and computing platform for advancement in visual semantic computing, as well as potential applications in medicine, social science, and arts. © 2016 World Scientific Publishing Company.

Three-dimensional (3D) human pose estimation (HPE) targets to produce the 3D spatial coordinates of the human pose from 2D images. 3D HPE is a basic computer vision task for many intelligent industrial applications. Commonly, the coordinates of the predicted 3D human pose joints are calculated through the 2D keypoint from the ground truth provided by the datasets or generated by a classical and robust 2D human pose estimator. With the development of transformer-based methods, the methods with a sequence of monocular images have achieved great success in 2D-to-3D lifting human pose estimation. In this paper, the sampled frames with a dilated ratio are given as the input of the 3D human pose estimator. Extensive experiments on the public benchmark Human 3.6M demonstrate the significance and effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2023 IEEE.

Drinking alcohol has high cost on society. The journey from being a regular drinker to a successful quitter may be a long and hard journey, fraught with the risk to relapse. Research has shown that certain behavioral changes can be effective towards staying abstained. Traditional way to conduct research on drinking abstainers uses questionnaire based approach to collect data from a curated group of people. However, it is an expensive approach in both cost and time and often results in small data with less diversity. Recently, social media has emerged as a rich data source. Reddit is one such social media platform that has a community (‘subreddit’) with an interest to quit drinking. The discussions among the group dates back to year 2011 and contain more than 40,000 posts. This large scale data is generated by users themselves and without being limited by any survey questionnaires. The most predictive factors from the features (unigrams, topics and LIWC) associated with short-term and long-term abstinence are identified using Lasso. It is seen that many common patterns manifest in unigrams, topics and LIWC. Whilst topics provided much richer associations between a group of words and the outcome, unigrams and LIWC are found to be good at finding highly predictive solo and psycho linguistically important words. Combining them we have found that many interesting patterns that are associated with the successful attempt made by the long-term abstainer, at the same time finding many of the common issues faced during the initial period of abstinence. © Springer International Publishing AG 2016.

In many real-life applications, spatial objects are associated with multiple non-spatial attributes. For example, a hotel may have price and rating in addition to its geographic location. In traditional spatial databases, spatial objects are often ranked solely based on their distance to a given query location, e.g., in a nearest neighbor search. In another line of research, domination based skyline queries are used to return best objects according to multi-criteria on non-spatial attributes. In this paper, we study how to rank spatial objects with respect to their non-spatial attributes within their spatial neighborhoods. To enable a general ranking, we design a ranking function that inherits the advantages of dominance relationship and integrates them with spatial proximity. Further, we propose an effective index structure, and a branch and bound solution that executes the ranking efficiently via the index. We conduct extensive empirical studies on real and synthetic datasets. The results demonstrate the high efficiency of our proposal compared to straightforward alternatives. © Springer-Verlag 2013.

QCA is an emanating nanotechnology, which will ease and reduce the complexity of CMOS technology. Recently by using the characteristic of this nomenclature, different devices of the digital system can be offered which will consume less power and will have less device density. In this paper, a new QCA based 2-to-4 decoder has been proposed, which is designed by only 81 3-dot QCA cells. The comparison of this proposed design has been stated in the paper along with necessary simulations. Here we become acquainted that, our proposed novel architecture improves 61% in the number of cell counts and 99% in terms of the area in comparison to the existing QCA based decoders. In this proposed design, it is possible to avoid any kind of overlapping of cells which leads to a more compact and cost-effective design of a 2-to-4 decoder. © 2021 IEEE.

The purpose of this research is the segmentation of lungs computed tomography(CT)scan for the diagnosis of COVID-19 by using machine learning *** dataset contains data from patients who are prone to the *** contains three types of lungs CT images(Normal,Pneumonia,and COVID-19)collected from two different sources;the first one is the Radiology department of Nishtar Hospital Multan and Civil Hospital Bahawalpur,Pakistan,and the second one is a publicly free available medical imaging database known as *** the preprocessing,a novel fuzzy c-mean automated region-growing segmentation approach is deployed to take an automated region of interest(ROIs)and acquire 52 hybrid statistical features for each ***,12 optimized statistical features are selected via the chi-square feature reduction *** the classification,five machine learning classifiers named as deep learning J4,multilayer perceptron,support vector machine,random forest,and naive Bayes are deployed to optimize the hybrid statistical features *** is observed that the deep learning J4 has promising results(sensitivity and specificity:0.987;accuracy:98.67%)among all the deployed *** a complementary study,a statistical work is devoted to the use of a new statistical model to fit the main datasets of COVID-19 collected in Pakistan.

This paper proposes an improved GRPS protocol based on the ant colony algorithm, OVGPSR. In this protocol, various factors are considered in the routing calculation, and the parameters such as vehicle speed, energy consumption, and deflection angle are introduced into the ant colony algorithm. The algorithm predicts vehicle intermediate nodes, improves the ability of a vehicle ad hoc network, and reduces energy consumption. The results show that OVGPSR decreases delay and enhance throughput. © 2020 IEEE.

Recently, similarity-preserving hashing methods have been extensively studied for large-scale image retrieval. Compared with unsupervised hashing, supervised hashing methods for labeled data have usually better performance by utilizing semantic label information. Intuitively, for unlabeled data, it will improve the performance of unsupervised hashing methods if we can first mine some supervised semantic'label information' from unlabeled data and then incorporate the'label information' into the training process. Thus, in this paper, we propose a novel Object Detection based Deep Unsupervised Hashing method (ODDUH). Specifically, a pre-trained object detection model is utilized to mining supervised'label information', which is used to guide the learning process to generate high-quality hash codes. Extensive experiments on two public datasets demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the state-of-the-art unsupervised hashing methods in the image retrieval task. © 2019 International Joint Conferences on Artificial Intelligence. To alleviate the big data difficulties that have created a potential problem for many Internet users, it is necessary to filter, rank, and efficiently communicate the relevant information on the Web, where the diversity of possibilities is overwhelming. Recommender systems, which sift through enormous amounts of dynamically generated data to give consumers with personalised information and services, are able to overcome this problem. Bipartite graphs are currently generally used to store and understand this data due to its sparse nature. data are mapped to a bipartite user-item interaction network where the graph topology captures detailed information about user-item associations, transforming a recommendation issue into a link prediction problem. Earlier, approaches for link prediction in bipartite graphs for various recommendation systems were developed, but the efficacy of the prediction methodology was not close to the standards required by real-time recommenders. So, the primary goal of this research is to offer an effective link prediction-based recommendation system that takes advantage of SVD++ along with K-nearest neighbors and reduces the system's error rate, leading to better outcomes. The proposed system is sorely tested on the MovieLens dataset and compared to some traditional recommendation methods. The results demonstrate that the suggested strategy exceeds all traditional approaches in terms of accuracy, and the actual suggestions are equally encouraging. © 2023 The Authors. Several recent and ongoing smart grid projects aim at incorporating more renewable energy sources (RES) into the energy production. Among them, the European MIRABEL project tackles this problem by managing flexibilities on energy demand and supply. Typically, this project assumes that some parts of the energy demand can be shifted when the RES production is sufficient, e.g., the washing machine can be turned on when the wind blows. To express these flexibilities, the project introduces the core-concept of flex-offer. Unfortunately, flex-offer data from the consumers is not yet available. Consequently, in order to test and evaluate the MIRABEL prototype, the flex-offers are extracted from the real world electricity consumption time series. In this work, we investigate, discuss, and experiment several ways to automatically capture flexibility within the electricity time series. Particularly, we show that incorporating domain knowledge, for instance, appliance information or appliance usage frequencies, can improve a lot the outcome of the flex-offer generation and, thus, the MIRABEL project global evaluation. © 2013 ACM.
