In an era dominated by artificial intelligence (AI), concerns about bias and discrimination loom large. The quest for fairness and equity in AI-driven decision-making has led to the exploration of Explainable AI (XAI) as a viable solution. This paper undertakes a thorough examination of the bias ingrained within AI systems and posits XAI as a potent antidote. Beginning with an exploration of the origins and aftermath of bias in AI, the analysis traverses the evolution of XAI techniques, including SHAP, LIME, and counterfactual explanations, clearly stating their advantages and drawbacks. With each XAI method thoroughly inspected, the study unravels their applicability across diverse AI models and domains. Furthermore, a compelling case study is presented, showcasing XAI's practical application in a language translation app, where it guarantees transparency and equity in the translation process. This tangible example serves as a testament to XAI's efficacy in mitigating bias within real-world applications. As the analysis concludes, it underscores the pivotal role XAI plays in fostering accountability and trustworthiness in AI systems. By shedding light on how XAI mitigates bias and offering concrete examples of its utility, the paper advocates for its widespread adoption as an imperative step towards the development of ethically robust AI systems. In a landscape filled with concerns about bias, XAI emerges as a beacon of hope, promising a future where AI decisions are transparent, fair, and equitable for all. © 2024 IEEE.

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) systems are becoming relevant in the fast-expanding terrain of large-scale networks because of their efficiency in concurrently managing many users. This is true since NOMA systems let numerous users concurrently be managed. On the other hand, the intricacy of these networks leaves them vulnerable to a wide spectrum of attacks, including the more advanced and erratic NOMA attacks on the network. These strikes could produce major disturbances that would compromise the quality of service and cast questions regarding the general network security. It has been demonstrated that the effective projection of these hazards is limited by standard linear and probabilistic techniques. This is true as contemporary methods fail to adequately capture the basic non-linear dynamics of these large-scale networks. This article offers a novel method for NOMA attack prediction by means of a non-linear chaotic belief process. The results are shown here. To recreate the uncertainty and intricate interactions inside the network, the proposed method which is the logistic map which in turn generates the sequences for ensuring the accurate iterative updates which in turn provides better scalability and precision. This integrates belief networks with chaos theory. More exactly, we capture the random and nonlinear aspect of network dynamics by building belief values indicating the likelihood of an attack by use of a chaotic map. After that, the belief values proliferate across the network in search of defects and project the probability of NOMA attacks. Effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by test results on a simulated large-scale network simulation. With a prediction accuracy of 92.7%, the chaotic belief mechanism obtained much above the average accuracy of 78.4% of traditional linear prediction systems. Given the severity of waste pollution as a major environmental concern, intelligent and sustainable waste management is becoming increasingly crucial in both developed and developing countries. The material composition and volume of urban solid waste are key considerations in processing, managing, and utilizing city waste. Deep learning technologies have emerged as viable solutions to address waste management issues by reducing labor costs and automating complex tasks. However, the limited number of trash image categories and the inadequacy of existing datasets have constrained the proper evaluation of machine learning model performance across a large number of waste classes. In this paper, we present robust waste image classification and object detection studies using deep learning models, utilizing 28 distinct recyclable categories of waste images comprising a total of 10,406 images. For the waste classification task, we proposed a novel dual-stream network that outperformed several state-of-the-art models, achieving an overall classification accuracy of 83.11%. Additionally, we introduced the GELAN-E (generalized efficient layer aggregation network) model for waste object detection tasks, obtaining a mean average precision (mAP50) of 63%, surpassing other state-of-the-art detection models. These advancements demonstrate significant progress in the field of intelligent waste management, paving the way for more efficient and effective solutions. © The Author(s) 2024.

Skin cancer is one of the most prevalent types of cancer globally, with its incidence steadily rising over the past decades. Early and accurate detection of skin cancer plays a pivotal role in improving patient outcomes and reducing mortality rates. In recent years, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have emerged as powerful tools for automated image analysis and classification, offering promising results in various medical imaging tasks, including skin cancer detection. This paper provides a comprehensive review and analysis of CNN-based approaches for skin cancer classification. We discuss the challenges associated with traditional methods of skin cancer diagnosis and highlight the potential of CNNs in addressing these challenges. Furthermore, we survey state-of-the-art CNN architectures, dataset collections, preprocessing techniques, and evaluation metrics commonly used in skin cancer classification tasks. We also delve into the transfer learning and data augmentation strategies employed to improve model generalization and robustness. Additionally, we review recent advancements in interpretability techniques for CNNs, which enhance the transparency and trustworthiness of automated skin cancer diagnosis systems. Finally, we discuss the limitations and future directions of CNN-based approaches in skin cancer classification, emphasizing the need for large-scale, diverse datasets, standardized evaluation protocols, and interdisciplinary collaborations to facilitate the clinical translation and deployment of CNN-based diagnostic tool. © 2024 IEEE.

Urban heat island (UHI) effects, especially in highly urbanised areas, and greenhouse gas emissions from human activity are two elements that accelerate global climate change (GCC). Sustainable city planning and modification may benefit from the quantification of the surface UHI (SUHI) effect utilising land surface temperature (LST), local climate zones (LCZ), and deep learning methods like convolutional neural networks (CNN) and pix2pix. The findings show that socioeconomic variables account for 12–20% of variability in UHI intensity. In general, the contribution rate of urban economic scale is higher than that of population and industrial structure variables. The increase in urban economic expansion increased summertime heat discomfort. This research propose novel method in socioeconomic analysis based on urban heat pattern analysis with public healthcare system using decision-making with DL (deep learning) model. Input is collected as urban heat pattern dataset and processed for noise removal and normalisation. This data has been features are extracted and classified using convolutional fuzzy Q-Gaussian neural network and variational K-C-means regressive learning. The simulation analysis has been carried out based on training accuracy, average precision, recall, and F-measure. The proposed model attained average precision was 94%, recall was 90%, training accuracy was 97%, and F1-score was 92%. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.

Progressive diagnosis prediction in healthcare is a promising yet challenging task. Existing studies usually assume a pre-defined prior for generating patient distributions (e.g., Gaussian). However, the inferred approximate posterior can deviate from the real-world distribution, which further affects the modeling of continuous disease progression over time. To alleviate such inference bias, we propose an enhanced progressive diagnostic prediction model (i.e., ProCNF), which integrates continuous normalizing flows (CNF) and neural ordinary differential equations (ODEs) to achieve more accurate approximations of patient health trajectories while capturing the continuity underlying disease progression. We first learn patient embeddings with CNF to construct a complex posterior approximation of patient distributions. Then, we devise a CNF-enhanced neural ODE module for progressive diagnostic prediction, which aims to improve the modeling of disease progression for individual patients. Extensive experiments on two real-world longitudinal EHR datasets show significant performance gains brought by our method over state-of-the-art competitors. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). AI and virtual assistants are transforming higher education by using digital tools to enhance teaching and learning in ways that go beyond traditional methods. These digital tools are not merely supplementary aids but are increasingly gaining popularity in educationalsetting offering innovative approaches that transcend conventional methods. In this research we introduce ByteBuddy a virtual assistant which assists instructors on Java ***'s framework is designed in a way to integrate easily into educational context. This study reveals the architecture of ByteBuddy, the process model that captured the behavior of students in the learning environment and the observation of its application in java instructions. By applying this study, we provide profound insights on how the effective use of ByteBuddy supplements the teaching practices and measure learning outcomes. © 2025 IEEE.

In federated learning (FL), incentivizing contributions of training resources (e.g., data, compute) from potentially competitive clients is crucial. Existing incentive mechanisms often distribute post-training monetary rewards, which suffer from practical challenges of timeliness and feasibility of the rewards. Rewarding the clients after the completion of training may incentivize them to abort the collaboration, and monetizing the contribution is challenging in practice. To address these problems, we propose an incentive-aware algorithm that offers differentiated training-time model rewards for each client at each FL iteration. We theoretically prove that such a local design ensures the global objective of client incentivization. Through theoretical analyses, we further identify the issue of error propagation in model rewards and thus propose a stochastic reference-model recovery strategy to ensure theoretically that all the clients eventually obtain the optimal model in the limit. We perform extensive experiments to demonstrate the superior incentivizing performance of our method compared to existing baselines. © 2024 12th International Conference on Learning Representations, ICLR 2024. In recent years, deep learning has significantly reshaped numerous fields and applications, fundamentally altering how we tackle a variety of challenges. Areas such as natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, healthcare, network security, wide-area surveillance, and precision agriculture have leveraged the merits of the deep learning era. Particularly, deep learning has significantly improved the analysis of remote sensing images, with a continuous increase in the number of researchers and contributions to the field. The high impact of deep learning development is complemented by rapid advancements and the availability of data from a variety of sensors, including high-resolution RGB, thermal, LiDAR, and multi-/hyperspectral cameras, as well as emerging sensing platforms such as satellites and aerial vehicles that can be captured by multi-temporal, multi-sensor, and sensing devices with a wider view. This study aims to present an extensive survey that encapsulates widely used deep learning strategies for tackling image classification challenges in remote sensing. Refasctoring is a technique used in software development to improve the quality of code without changing its functionality. One metric that is often used to measure code quality is Code Coverage. This study aims to examine refactoring techniques that can maximize Code Coverage Metric. Through the study, identification, evaluation, and summary of empirical evidence from various literature sources are carried out. The results of this study provide guidance on effective refactoring techniques to improve Code Coverage as well as other positive impacts for software development. There are ten refactoring techniques that can be used to improve Code Coverage Metrics in software testing. © 2023 IEEE.
