In 2022, Indonesia initiated a pilot project to transition from liquid petroleum gas (LPG) stoves to induction stoves, targeting 8.2 million households by 2025. While LPG is considered a clean cooking fuel by the World Health Organization due to its low PM2.5 emissions, this program aims to further reduce CO2 emissions from cooking activities, aligning with Indonesia’s clean energy transition and 2060 Net Zero Emission goals. Throughout the program, doubts and criticisms arose among various sectors of society, particularly concerning the sustainability of this program. This research aims to determine and analyze the driving factors that support the sustainability of the induction stove transition program. Five sustainability aspects, namely, economic, social, environmental, technical, and institutional, were analyzed. A total of 315 Indonesian citizens participated as respondents in this research survey. The Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Model (PLS–SEM) method was utilized as the analytical approach for the study. The results revealed that nine factors significantly influenced program sustainability, with the strongest impacts from technology costs (path coefficient = 0.859), contextual factors (0.803), electrical infrastructure (0.792), and community perception (0.773). Economic sustainability was driven by technology costs and business opportunities (0.643), while environmental sustainability was strongly influenced by electrical infrastructure. Post-installation support (0.307) and financial management (0.391) significantly impacted technical and institutional sustainability respectively. These empirical findings improve previous research on the sustainability of an energy transition program, which provides insights for researchers and stakeholders in the energy management field, especially in developing countries, for policy determination and decision-making. © 2025, Aalborg University Press. In 2022, there are 1,524 flood events out of a total of 3,531 disasters occurring in Indonesia. East Kalimantan Province ranked 20th among the 35 provinces in Indonesia with 28 flood occurrences in 2022, resulting in two fatalities. This highlights the urgent need for addressing flood hazard to prevent future casualties. There are some methods that can be used to determine the flood hazard in a region. In this research aims to identify flood-prone areas in East Kalimantan Province and evaluate the effectiveness of different mapping methods. The methodology that compares are the Pairwise Comparison method and Geomorphic Flood Index (GFI). The study's results provide flood-prone area maps of East Kalimantan Province using both methods, recommend the more efficient method for flood-prone area identification, and offer mitigation strategies based on the findings. This research is intended to serve as a reference for selecting the best method for identifying flood-prone areas and for informing policy decisions to mitigate flood impacts in East Kalimantan Province. © Author(s) 2025.

Conventional dialysate recycling methods struggle to effectively remove creatinine, urea, and other minor contaminants. This study explores mixed matrix membrane adsorbers (MMMAs) as a novel approach to address these challenges. MMMAs, which integrate adsorbents into filtration membranes, function as both filters and impurity scavengers. Zeolite carbon composite (ZCC) and zeolite-templated carbon (ZTC) were incorporated into MMMAs using the non-solvent induced phase separation (NIPS) technique. Characterization by SEM and XRD confirmed the successful synthesis of ZCC and ZTC, retaining the zeolite-Y structure and amorphous nature, with notable differences in particle sizes (680 and 379 nm) and crystallite sizes (0.45 and 0.02 nm). FTIR revealed hydrogen bonding interactions between ZCC and PVP, absent in ZTC. SEM and AFM analyses of the membranes indicated increased hydrophilicity and porosity with ZCC, while ZTC reduced surface roughness. MMMAs significantly outperformed pristine membranes in removing urea and creatinine. The PPK-0.2 membrane achieved superior rejection rates (93.05 % for urea and 98.95 % for creatinine), attributed to microporous entrapment of ZTC and polymer matrix adsorption. In contrast, PPZ-0.2 showed lower rejection rates (84.24 % for urea and 85.79 % for creatinine), relying solely on physical adsorption. These findings highlight MMMAs, especially ZTC-based ones, as promising candidates for enhancing dialysate reuse efficiency. © 2024 The Korean Society of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry

Access to healthcare facilities is crucial in the present day. Healthcare facilities must be proportional to the population in a given area. Therefore, it is important to increase the number of healthcare facilities in regions where there is an imbalance. Proper planning and a sustainability review are necessary when determining locations for healthcare facilities. Environmental changes can affect the suitability of a location in the future. Thus, planning that can predict future suitability conditions is required to ensure that the built locations have high sustainability. This study predicts the suitability of healthcare facility locations in 2030 in West Java using remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS). Both static and dynamic data processed at 30×30 meter intervals across West Java will be used. Geospatial and remote sensing data are utilized in the study. Dynamic parameter extrapolation uses data from 2000 to 2018. The random forest machine learning method is employed to obtain the suitability values for healthcare facility locations using existing health facility training data in West Java. The results show changes in the suitability classes of healthcare facilities in each region from 2018 to 2030, with some areas experiencing an increase or decrease in class. This research highlights consistently suitable locations, ensuring their sustainability as healthcare facility sites. © 2024

Meningitis is an inflammation of the meninges that occurs in the protective lining of the brain and spinal cord caused by bacterial, viral, or fungal infections. This disease is difficult to recognize because it has initial symptoms like the flu where the patient has a fever and headache. Current efforts to prevent the disease by strengthening antibodies. Meanwhile, drug candidates for the treatment of this disease still have not found optimal results in reducing mortality due to meningitis. This study aims to find and analyses herbal compound candidates that might be inhibitors of meningitis. Compound data was acquired from a validated open database. The data acquired are smiles of the chemical bond structure of the compounds. In the data processing process, compound feature extraction is required by applying the concept of molecular fingerprint. The results of feature extraction are used as datasets to build classification models by applying the Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) and Random Forest algorithms. The two models are compared, and a more robust model is selected to be used as a prediction model for herbal compound search. The MLP model has a better accuracy of 0.97 compared to the Random Forest model. The results of screening using the MLP learning model obtained Symphytine, cis-Linalool oxide, and 3-O-Methylcalopocarpin compounds have the highest probability compared to thousands of other herbal compounds. This candidate compound can be used as a recommendation for drug discovery to treat patients who contract Meningitis.

We propose a new statistical modeling method to analyze functional relationship between predictor variables and correlated response variables, and apply it for modeling the number of HIV and AIDS cases influenced by early-age marriages and contraceptive users. The proposed method is LS-Spline BNNBR that is a Biresponse Nonparametric Negative Binomial Regression (BNNBR) based on least squares spline (LS-Spline). To validate the proposed method, we compare it with classical method, namely Ordinary Least Square Biresponse Parametric Negative Binomial Regression (OLS-BPNBR). The results show that the LS-Spline BNNBR method provided deviance value of 7.542334 which is smaller than that of OLS-BPNBR method, namely 7.993935. Thus, the proposed method has better prediction fit than the classical method. • This study discusses new statistical modeling method for the number of HIV and AIDS cases influenced by early-age marriages and contraceptive users where the response variables are correlated with each other. • The model estimation results show that the number of HIV and AIDS cases in Indonesia will decrease if the early-age marriages percentage increases and the contraceptive users percentage decreases. • The results are useful to provide a scientific basis for making policies to control the number of HIV and AIDS cases in Indonesia. © 2025 The Authors

In 2022, tobacco was the top export commodity, generating $106.3 million in sales. East Java Province contributes significantly to Indonesia's tobacco production, with an annual output of 188.6 thousand tons. Jember Regency is the area in East Java Province which is a Kasturi tobacco cultivation area. The productivity of Kasturi tobacco continues to decrease due to several factors that can affect the survival of the tobacco. This study aims to analyze the survival of Kasturi tobacco by creating stratified Cox and extended Cox models in order to handle factors that cannot fulfill the proportional hazard assumption. Based on the results of the analysis, the stratified Cox model is the best model with AIC and BIC values of 798.108 and 805.5748 respectively, while the extended Cox has AIC and BIC values of 840.2186 and 850.1732 respectively. Variables that can significantly affect the survival of Kasturi tobacco are the variable concentration of ZA fertilizer, pesticide concentration. The addition of ZA fertilizer must be appropriate, because if excessive it can cause poisoning of tobacco plants. Likewise with pesticides, if excessive it will cause damage to the leaves. This policy can increase the productivity of Kasturi tobacco. Then, Jember Regency contributes greater export capacity. • This paper aims to determine the factors that affect the survival of Kasturi tobacco plants in Jember • By using the extended Cox model, the best one is obtained using the Heaviside function with AIC and BIC values of 840.2186 and 850.1732, respectively • The stratified Cox model is better than the extended Cox model, which has AIC and BIC values of 798.108 and 805.5748, respectively

The increasing demand for sustainable materials has highlighted nanocellulose as a promising candidate due to its exceptional mechanical strength, thermal stability, and superior barrier properties. These attributes enable its application in diverse fields, including packaging, biomedical devices, and nanocomposites. This study investigates the valorization of edamame bean husks, a byproduct of the globally consumed legume snack, as a sustainable feedstock for nanocellulose production. Cellulose was extracted from the husks via delignification and bleaching, followed by a green and facile acid hydrolysis method employing organic acids (maleic acid, lactic acid, citric acid, and formic acid) to produce nanocellulose. The resulting nanocellulose exhibited a fibrillar morphology with particle sizes ranging from 7.59 to 17.51 nm, depending on the acid used. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed a crystallinity index ranging from 63.49 % to 67.24 %. Notably, acid hydrolysis significantly enhanced the thermal stability of the nanocellulose compared to both the raw husk and isolated cellulose. These findings demonstrate the potential of edamame agricultural waste as a valuable resource for sustainable and eco-friendly nanocellulose production, contributing to a circular bioeconomy. © 2025 The Authors

Poverty is considered a serious global issue that must be immediately eradicated by Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1, namely ending poverty anywhere and in any form. As a developing country, poverty is a complex issue faced by Indonesia. Tackling poverty in Indonesia has become a key focus of the government’s strategic priorities. This issue of poverty is experienced by all provinces in Indonesia, including Central Java. The poverty rate in Central Java stands at 10.77% or 3.79 million people. The causes of poverty are explained by several factors. Using these various factors, a mapping model can be conducted to determine the number of poor populations in Central Java. This research employs Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) and Mixed Geographically Weighted Regression (MGWR) approaches to compare the effectiveness of these models in analyzing the number of poor populations in Central Java in 2023. The kernel function weighting used in this study is Fixed Gaussian. The results showed that the MGWR model outperformed both the OLS regression and GWR models, achieving an Akaike Information Criterion (AIC) of 62.766, an R2 of 82.3%, and a Mean Squared Error (MSE) of 0.177. Consequently, it can be inferred that the MGWR model was more suitable for explaining the poverty levels in Central Java. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers). All Rights Reserved.

Indonesia has entered a period of demographic bonus. Human resources must be optimized. The number of children who do not in employment, education or training (NEET) in each province needs attention. Several factors that could contribute to the decline in the NEET percentage are literacy rates and the number of adolescents with computer skills. Increasing these two factors is believed to be able to reduce the percentage of NEET in every province in Indonesia. To find out the relationship between these two factors and how much influence they have on the percentage of NEET, this research is modeled by Cauchy regression and includes spatial effects. The results of the analysis show that the best model is when the spatial effect is modeled by Fernandez Steel Skew Normal conditionally autoregressive (FSSN CAR). This result is seen from the smallest value of the Watanabe Akaike Information Criterion (WAIC) in this model, which is 190.5. The parameter estimated shows that the higher the literacy rate and the number of adolescents with computer skills, the lower the percentage of NEET in each province in Indonesia. The results of this research can be useful for the Indonesian government to increase the number of educational facilities related to these two factors. © (2024), (International Association of Engineers).
