As dementia cases are projected to reach 150 million by 2050, with Alzheimer’s disease (AD) accounting for $60-70 \%$ of instances, early detection becomes crucial. AD and other dementias currently rank as the seventh leading cause of death globally. Our study addresses this by employing speech analysis for AD detection, offering a non-invasive and cost-effective diagnostic tool. Utilizing the ADReSS dataset, we integrated advanced Deep Learning techniques, including YAMNet and VGGish, with Mel Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCCs) for feature extraction. An autoencoder was employed for dimensionality reduction to isolate key speech features. We applied Random Forest (RF), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), and Support Vector Machines (SVM) for classification. The ANN model outperformed others, achieving an impressive $89.3 \%$ accuracy, surpassing current methodologies. This research highlights the efficacy of using speech analysis and ML, DL for early AD detection. Our approach, accessible and precise, promises advancements in early diagnosis and care for AD. Future work will aim to enhance model applicability to various stages of AD and related disorders.

Predictive modeling of disease progression in chronic conditions is a crucial task in healthcare, as it enables early identification and personalized intervention for patients at risk of adverse outcomes. In recent times, there has been a notable advancement in the field of machine learning techniques, which has demonstrated considerable potential in accurately forecasting the evolution of diseases. This development has proven to be highly beneficial for healthcare professionals, as it equips them with vital insights that can significantly enhance the management of patients. This research paper provides a thorough examination and comparative evaluation of different machine learning algorithms in the context of forecasting the course of diseases in chronic situations. We explore the use of diverse datasets containing longitudinal patient records, clinical variables, and disease-specific markers to train and evaluate predictive models. The study also investigates the impact of feature selection and data preprocessing techniques on the model's performance. Moreover, we assess the generalizability and robustness of the models across different chronic diseases to determine their potential for broader clinical applications. The results demonstrate that machine learning models can effectively predict disease progression, with certain algorithms outperforming others in specific scenarios. The research findings presented in this study offer significant contributions to the understanding and implementation of machine learning techniques for predicting disease development. The aforementioned realizations have the potential to be of substantial assistance to medical professionals in terms of making well-informed decisions, which will ultimately lead to better outcomes for patients. © 2023 IEEE.

A new mobile attention economy has emerged with the explosive growth of short-video apps such as TikTok. In this internet market, three types of agents interact with each other: the platform, influencers, and advertisers. A short-video platform encourages its influencers to attract users by creating appealing content through short-form videos and allows advertisers to display their ads in short-form videos. There are two options for the advertisers: one is to bid for platform advert slots in a similar way to search engine auctions;the other is to pay an influencer to make engaging short videos and promote them through the influencer's channel. The second option will generate a higher conversion ratio if advertisers choose the right influencers whose followers match their target market. Although displaying influencer ads will generate less revenue, it is more engaging than platform ads, which is better for maintaining user traffic. Therefore, it is crucial for a platform to balance these factors by establishing a sustainable business agreement with its influencers and advertisers. In this paper, we develop a two-stage solution for a platform to maximize short-term revenue and long-term user traffic maintenance. In the first stage, we estimate the impact of user traffic generated by displaying influencer ads and characterize the user traffic the platform should allocate to influencers for overall revenue maximization. In the second stage, we devise an optimal (1 - 1/e)-competitive algorithm for ad slot allocation. To complement this analysis, we examine the ratio of the revenue generated by our online algorithm to the optimal offline revenue. Our simulation results show that this ratio is 0.94 on average, which is much higher than (1 - 1/e) and outperforms four baseline algorithms. © 2022 International Foundation for Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems (***). The development of effective drug therapies is a complex and multifaceted problem involving various biological, chemical, and computational challenges. Traditional drug development methods are often time-consuming and costly, necessitating innovative approaches. Multi-objective genetic algorithms (MOGAs) have emerged as a powerful tool for optimizing drug design by simultaneously considering multiple conflicting objectives, such as efficacy, safety, and cost. This paper reviews the application of MOGAs in drug discovery, highlighting their principles, advantages, and case studies, and discussing future directions in the field. Enhancing MOGAs in drug discovery are also outlined, emphasizing the integration with machine learning, advancements in computational infrastructure, and the potential for personalized medicine. Genetic algorithms (GAs) are a powerful class of optimization techniques inspired by the principles of natural selection and genetics. One of the theoretical cornerstones of GAs is schema theory, which provides a framework for understanding how building blocks of solutions, known as schemas, are propagated and combined through generations. This review paper aims to provide a comprehensive theoretical analysis of schema formation in genetic algorithms. It delves into the foundational principles of schema theory, including the schema theorem and its implications for the efficiency and behavior of GAs. The paper also explores advanced topics such as schema disruption mechanisms, the impact of multimodal and epistatic fitness landscapes, and the integration of schema theory with hybrid approaches. Additionally, practical implications and real-world applications of schema theory are discussed through case studies and best practices. By elucidating the mechanisms of schema formation and their influence on genetic algorithm performance, this review seeks to offer valuable insights and directions for future research. Video Character Social Relationship Recognition (VCSRR) requires a comprehensive consideration about spatio-temporal and multi-modal clues in videos. Most existing methods mainly focus on integrating multi-modal clues and modeling interactions among characters. However, they fail to discover key clues in the complex video data or fully understand the clues related to social relationships. In this article, we propose a novel Large Language Model Enhanced Key Clues Selection (LEKCS) framework to address the aforementioned issues. The core of LE-KCS is to mine multi-scale key clues from the perspectives of time, space and multi-modality, then transfer the knowledge about social relationships of the Large Language Model to VCSRR for understanding the selected clues. We evaluated LEKCS on the MovieGraphs dataset and the experimental results indicate that our proposed LE-KCS achieves state-of-the-art performance. © 2025 IEEE.

The SAR image semantic segmentation using computer vision techniques has gained much popularity in the research community due to their wide applications. Despite the advancements in Deep Learning for image analysis, these models still struggle to segment SAR images due to the existence of speckle noise and a poor feature extractor. Moreover, deep learning models are challenging to train on small datasets and the performance of the model is significantly impacted by the quality of the data. This calls for the development of an effective network that can draw out critical information from the low resolution SAR images. In this regard, the present work proposes a unique Self attention module in U-Net for the semantic segmentation of low resolution SAR images.. The Self Attention Model makes use of Laplacian kernel to highlight the sharp discontinuities in the features that define the boundaries of the objects. The proposed model, employs dilated convolution layers at the initial layers, enabling the model to more effectively capture larger contextual information. With an accuracy of 0.84 and an F1-score of 0.83, the proposed model outperforms the state-of-the-art techniques in semantic segmentation of low resolution SAR images. The results clearly demonstrate the importance of the self attention module and the consideration of dilated convolution layers in the initial layers in semantic segmentation of low resolution SAR images. © 2023 ACM.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) has substantial obstacles to early detection, which frequently leads to therapy delays. In this article a unique method that uses structural MRI data and Multi-Relation Graph Convolutional Networks (MR-GCN) to improve AD diagnostic accuracy. Which can capture the nuanced interactions that characterize neurodegenerative disorders by representing the intricate relationships between various brain regions as a multi-relational graph. This strategy provides a comprehensive picture of brain function and pathology through the combination of relational data and structural MRI features. Using a large dataset, the resusts are evaluated and contrasted in MR-GCN method with other machine-learning techniques and single-relation graph models. The findings demonstrate that this method outperforms current models in terms of classification accuracy and resilience, achieving higher sensitivity and specificity in distinguishing between individuals in good health and various stages of AD. Then for further exploration the interpretability of the model is identified in critical brain regions that support the diagnosing process. This work provides a promising framework for the integration of sophisticated graph-based medical imaging tools, which could lead to more sophisticated clinical applications in the diagnosis and monitoring of neurodegenerative diseases in addition to improving our understanding of how AD progresses. © 2024 IEEE.

Towards sustainable adversarial training with successive perturbation generation

Adversarial training with online-generated adversarial examples has achieved promising performance in defending adversarial attacks and improving robustness of convolutional neural network ***,most existing adversarial training methods are dedicated to finding strong adversarial examples for forcing the model to learn the adversarial data distribution,which inevitably imposes a large computational overhead and results in a decrease in the generalization performance on clean *** this paper,we show that progressively enhancing the adversarial strength of adversarial examples across training epochs can effectively improve the model robustness,and appropriate model shifting can preserve the generalization performance of models in conjunction with negligible computational *** this end,we propose a successive perturbation generation scheme for adversarial training(SPGAT),which progressively strengthens the adversarial examples by adding the perturbations on adversarial examples transferred from the previous epoch and shifts models across the epochs to improve the efficiency of adversarial *** proposed SPGAT is both efficient and effective;e.g.,the computation time of our method is 900 min as against the 4100 min duration observed in the case of standard adversarial training,and the performance boost is more than 7%and 3%in terms of adversarial accuracy and clean accuracy,*** extensively evaluate the SPGAT on various datasets,including small-scale MNIST,middle-scale CIFAR-10,and large-scale *** experimental results show that our method is more efficient while performing favorably against state-of-the-art methods.
